Question: Why 90 degrees for 2-phase, why not 180 degrees
Answer: if 2-phases are displaced by 180 degrees then instantaneous power is zero. But with 90 degrees its value is constant.
Question: Why we use R, Y, B representation in Three phase
Answer: R for Red, Y for Yellow, B for Blue color. these colors will clearly distinguish the respective wire.

Yr lecture on " why 3 phase and not single phase or two phase or four phase or six phase is stunning and is praise worthy. Very clear and yr prooving the same with equations and calculation. I have not come across these details in any electrical engg. Book or explanation by any. Excellence is the word for it. Thought provoking. Keep it up. Srivatsa

In 2 phase, the voltage generation from coil 1 is at 0 sec but in second coil voltage generation starts from (90deg) phase shift because the coil 2 is shifted 90 deg physically in alternator or in dynamo to the coil one so generation of voltage is also delay by coil 1 timing and it is exactly (1/50hz) then we get one cycle time period and then at 1/200 sec u will get voltage in coil 2 and this 1/200 sec is also exactly 90deg phase shift that's why in 2 phase the phase difference is 90 not 180

your explanation is correct that kirchhoff law also telling the algebraic sum of the current at any junction of the net work is zero.because transmission line voltage & current losses 50% it will be reduced and all installation electrical materials will be reduced and single phase (1ph,2ph) can not get rotational magnetic field in ac induction motor only get pulsating magnetic field also many phases no required to run the ac induction motor only 3ph enough

Hello, in 11:57, area of the conductor is reduced by 3 times because current is changed from 3I to I. But in normal conditions, for example cable which is able to carry 300Amps has not the section area of a cable which is able to carry 100Amps. (150mm2 section cable carries 324Amps and 25mm2 section cable carries 106Amps, current ratio is 3 to 1 but section area ratio is 6 to 1)

Here u didnt say about transmission losses & voltage drop in 2phase.Instead u discuss about the 3phase with phase shift, without phase shift & also 1phase & 3 nos of 1 phase losses nly. Sir. Could u plz tell me the losses in 2phase?
@thinkseeeatthroughvickus4555
@thinkseeeatthroughvickus4555 4 года назад
The concept of transmission power loss is clear. the power loss you calculated for all 3 phases. but there is some confusion in voltage drop in case if 3 single phase with common thick neutral. bcoz voltage drop you calculated in per phase only. so in case of 3 single phase with common thick neutral, even though there is '3I' in common neutral, the contribution of one-phase in neutral line is, only '3I/3 = I' and hence overall voltage drop / phase will be '4I', right? but in case of 3 single phase with separate neutral & in case of 3phase system, voltage drop / phase concept is clear. And presentation very much conveying message.

I have 315 KVA, 15/0.4 KV, 50 Hz, DELTA/STAR connected step down 3 phase transformer whose HV and LV windings are rewound again as it was. The TTR test was 100% ok. The insulation and dc resistance tests were also ok. However, as I tried to conduct open circuit test by connecting 380 V to the star connected LV side and the delta connected HV side was left open, the 16 A circuit breaker tripped immediately as the supply is switched on. I expected small magnetizing current (1.2 - 2) % 0f LV side rated current which is 455 A from the name plate. What could be the reason that the circuit breaker tripped?
