That’s some great speed you have considering you’re 74 years young! It’s also so great to read there more room for speed! Yes absolutely, more than happy to help in any way I can, there are a few videos on my RU-vid which talk through speed but I also offer online lessons via Skillest, follow me on there and we can arrange a call to go through a plan.
Hi, pleased to read you’ve found my coaching explanations Simple to understand. More content coming your way every Tuesday and Friday… eventually hoping to post on Sundays too!
Hi thanks for commenting, I’ve already done the follow up video which is this one right here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zz6GPP1Pl3I.html = the ultimate guide to consistently increase your swing speed!
Great explanation and demonstration. I see a lot of myself in your examples of not getting the timing right- shifting the weight forward and thereby creating a counter reaction and early extension, rotating the hips too much and thereby inadvertently coming around and over the top, etc. I’m going to work on the movements and thought patterns as you’ve explained them and see what happens. That squatting move is especially challenging but I’m going to work on it. 😊
Hi Matt, thanks for commenting, pleased you've enjoyed the video. And it's also great to read you can relate to yourself/ swing from this as it's a great indication that these drills to change and improve this will help you improve your game. Persevere with this, and keep me posted by commenting on new videos - also, if you ever need a check-up personally from me you can reach out to me on Skillest... where you can send me your swing... link is in the description of the video.
Love how much you’ve broken this swing down in to many small parts, it’s all about the ‘details’ 👌🏼 Can’t wait to work on this down the range - thanks 🙏🏼
Hi Courtney, thanks for commenting pleased you enjoyed the broken-down details on teh video, more like this to come. Feel free to let me know how you get on with this by contacting me on my website!
Ive just swung at 50 balls. A week all in a row. Increasing swing arc. And looser grip. Dont care where the balls go.ive gone from 170 ball speed. To 180. 188 max . 342 yards on trackman. Took a few weeks. Now i just need to tweek launch angle as i struggle to have any launch over 9 degrees. If i can get it to 14 . Who knows how far ill get it.
That’s great to read though, they are brilliant numbers, how have you found the consistency with this? Also…For the angle of attack you’re saying your finding it difficult to hit more up on the ball?
Hi Harry, so far I’m impressed with your instructions. The light or aha moment happened when you seated or bent your knees with your back still to the target. Kind of like Dr. Kwon. Thank you
Thanks. Well presented. I am interested in the follow-up. If I don't warm up before playing it takes me 5 or 6 holes to get my body in sync. First driver swings are always low hooks, path is ok, but clubface closed. Then comes right.
Hi Phil, thanks for commenting, I’ll take not of this to add into the next step (follow up video if we hit over 10 comments). Do you find this is mainly with the longer clubs? Or just the driver?
Hi Patrick, thanks for commenting, yes video is currently being planned and hoping to film and post in the next couple of weeks! Stay tuned. How’s your golf going?
I also love the break down and the drills to ingrain the movements! I can see how well it would work pre game or even in the middle of holes or shots if something has thrown you off your game. I was in a very serious crash a couple years ago, and I'm not getting any younger. Slowly I'm getting back into it, I started out 9 holes at a pitch and putt. Now I'm doing all 18 lol, breaking a sweat too. These drills are a great tool to get back the movements that I once took for granted. Thank you so much!
Hi John, it’s inspiring to read your story getting back into the game after your car accident. Thanks for reaching out, I’m very pleased this is helping you improve your game and get back into the swing of things. Good on you for playing the full 18 holes now! If you’re looking for any further help with your game/ more personals coaching you can contact me on Skillest!
When I was younger I was known as a long driver by my playing partners. I used to go to the range and hit nothing but the driver. I was always looking to hit it the absolute best that I could. I found out to increase my swing speed, I would get into a rhythm at 75-80 percent speed and then “ramp up” the speed at which I was swinging. If I got out of sequence, I would ease back until I got back in rhythm then try again. You have to be a little fearless to gain speed. You’re going to hit some bad shots when you try to hit it hard, but it sure is fun when you get it right.
Totally agree, when attempting to max out speed it’s important to complete forget about the technical aspects of the swing unless it’s to do with helping you gain More speed (working the ground more and whipping the club). How’s your golf going?
Thanks for all the great content you have been a great source in bringing my swing to where l am having a much better understanding how too put this Golf puzzle together …thank you so much
Hi Darrell, Thank you, it’s so great to read my coaching videos are helping you fit the your golf puzzle. Feel free to let me know if there anything else you’d like to see on the channel to help you!
Great video. Really helped clarify the shift from the drop down of the lead leg to gain ground force. The shift back to 50/50 happens naturally for me now as my centers realign. But Ive been bypassing the critical move for ground force of dropping down a bit on the lead leg to really push off into the rotation. Very helpful. I would love to see the follow up. Thanks.
Hi, thanks for commenting, very pleased you've been able to get some simple tips for your swing using the info from this video, I'm hoping to plan this follow-up video very soon. But will keep you posted. Have you managed to give this a try at the driving range?
Hi, thank you for commenting! I’m so pleased you’ve enjoyed the video. You’re very welcome, have you managed to give this a try at the driving range yet?
That’s so great to read thanks for letting me know. We’ll if you ever need help with anything else in your swing or if there anything you’re struggling with and need advise on you can arrange a call with me through zoom - the link is in the description.
Execllent video, and a revelation about ground forces , rather than the usual weight shift recommendations that are hard to follow. Definitely do a follow up.
So I can do this as you demonstrate. I can do it with one hand on the club either one. I cannot manifest this with both hands on the club. My videos of myself I'm not swaying very much but the exploding out of the shot doesn't want to happen. But thank you.
@@harryshawgolf just playrd a round of golf and shot my lowest round ever. What I've realized is that in my short game shots I squat down to the ground and explode upwards to hit a good shot but was not doing that on my long clubs. Made a change today on the course and shot 41 on the back nine my best ever. I will work on that.
That’s fantastic to read, thanks for letting me know the successes you’ve had from watching the video. If you want to improve your game further I’d be more than happy to arrange a zoom call with you to see how we can get you shooting in the 30’s for nine holes. The ‘book call’ link is in the description.
It’s great to read you’ve tried the squatting move and the hand movement. Absolutely, more videos coming your way ever Tuesday and Friday. Have you managed to give this a try at the range yet?
Great Video Harry on swing speed! Like to see a followup on how to increase it more. Well done especially sitting on right leg and then whipping it through.
I've been taught to maintain the bend in the trail leg so when I turn lead hip into trail foot I squat on the back swing then push off trail foot and push off lead foot to turn lead hip up and away like you say. Does this still make sense since I am only initiating the squat in the last half of the backswing after parrallel?
Hi, thanks for commenting, i would delay the squat until you get to the very top of your backswing, this is because when we bring this in during any point of the backswing, we don't initiate the lower body as efficiently during the downswing. Hope this makes sense, if you'd like me to explain further, I'd be more than happy to arrange a zoom call to discuss how we can get the lower body working at the correct point.
@@harryshawgolf I'm on est time. I am flexible. My biggest issue is with the driver. I have an issue with initiating the bump to the lead side and when I do I fall back on the trail foot. I do drop my hands behind me on the downswing. When I hit my 7 iron in the simulator I get the preasure with my trail palm and push of the trail side by thinking of the trail knee to the inside of the lead knee and I have hot my 7 as far as 194 yards with a draw about 20 yards off center. I can ease up on my back swing and tighten the dispersion. My driver is only going 250 and 280 at its best. When I can hit a 7 like that my driver should be going farther than my 5 wood.
Interesting concept, yes, this does need to be addressed, sometimes it literally can be a drill that's the key to help you get this move right with the woods and driver. If you download Skillest and follow my page, I'll drop you a message to arrange this zoom call and we can take it from there.
Really great explanation on swing speed increase. I have been told that ground force is essential but this is the first time ive fully grasped the concept. Im swing my short orange whip in front of the tv and i can feel the difference straight away. Cheers looking forward to more content.
Hi, thanks for commenting, I’m pleased to read you’ve been able to grasp the concept of the ground reaction forces in our swing, and how we should be producing them, is the short orange whip some sort’ve training aid to help build speed?
It's a tempo swing trainer. Flexible shaft with a heavy tennis ball sized ball on the end. Come in driver length as well. I like the short one to use inside, can do full swings and feels like your swinging a real club.
Oh, that makes sense yes I've seen those before, that's a very interesting training aid to use for this, something I haven't thought of before, how has it felt using this?
I have put your teaching to work on the driving range today. Am so happy It’s really coming together. Very happy, onwards and upwards. Pls keep your videos coming. From Perth western Australia.
Thanks for your comment again, really appreciate them! It's great to read you've taken this to the range today to practice and you've found this is really coming together. If there's anything else you'd like to see (tips and drills wise) let me know!
@@harryshawgolfI played 9 holes yesterday Harry. I then went to the track man range to try and make sense of my distances. I struck my irons great and have good distance with my short, mid and long irons. However, this is not translating into driver distance.
@@harryshawgolf i play to 11.Wife play to 8 n Son play to +1.I send ur excellent video to both of them.my distance goin downhill age catching up.Trying hard to get my distance back .
Wow, that's awesome, all your close family members play golf? Thanks for sharing the content. With regards to the distance going downhill, I'd be happy to arrange a Zoom call with you to discuss how we can maintain/increase your distance off the tee. Follow my on Skillest or use my website link to enquire and we can arrange the call from there.
@@harryshawgolf This is interesting because I have just started seeing a new coach (very highly rated) who wants me to grip the club with a very tight grip. This may be an interim feel that will change in future lessons, I don't know, but it does go against my natural feeling of wanting to grip lightly.
Interesting, this could be because your coach is trying to get you to control the takeaway a little more, and to limit the wrist movement. If this is the case, this video here will be great for you to control these two aspects without needing to hold the grip very tight... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hwfNuUh9yL0.html
@@harryshawgolf Driver swing at 104mph ball speed at 153mph. Right arm gets stuck and I early extend. Been following the Speed Sticks protocol but no real progress. Goal is to get to 110mph driver speed. Your videos are very helpful, I just struggle to focus on what to focus on. I have a focus problem.
The key for golf is to find something, either a move or a drill to really focus on, to put all your energy into improving, rather than trying 2/3/4 things at a time. One at a time is key, and even if it takes over 6 months to nail that one thing, you stick to it. If you're looking for this simplicity, I'd be more than happy to arrange a zoom call to discuss how we can work together to help you over come this... the link is in the description.
@@harryshawgolf actually just got back from a golf trip with friends in Fl, 5 days of golf. As I worked into a better rhythm for week, each day got better. Highlight of the week while I was on course practicing, hit a 7 iron to 10 feet from 180, and on the second ball I holed it out 😀! So hope that’s a good sign of things to come this year! Keep up the great content!
