A helpful hint, thank you. I have one of these trimmers and had a similar problem without knowing I could have easily fixed it myself. A good quality synthetic oil helps, too, as I found out on my 1975 Stihl 020 saw. It was OK on mineral oil at 30:1 but in the early 90s I changed to Amsoil lube at 100:1 which transformed it and on which it ran exclusively for the next 10 years. The naysayers abounded but my saw didn't hear their loud objections to my sanity and just kept on going until I no longer needed firewood for self. The many "others" now had to find their own. The saw was passed on to another, who replaced carb and piston rings. That's all. Not bad for a hard-working little machine 25 years old at the time.

I split my exhaust from the crimp around the whole thing. We have a lot of mud wasps here in Australia. Nothing inside. Can you suggest anything else? Thanks.

Mind you I know nothing about engines but I have a question how do you know the difference between whether or not it is a plugged Muffler screen or if your carburetor needs to be rebuilt my engine will run if I leave them choked eventually they get hot enough that I may be to take the choke off and I know this is not good for the engine so I assumed that the membrane in the carburetor needs to be replaced that it's gotten stiffened because of old gas once it gets hot it gets more flexible but how do I know whether it is the exhaust fixed or the muffler fix are all steel Mufflers the same I have a very old Steel weed eater that is at least 17 years old thank you for your time great video Simon i found out that i have an sh 80 weed eater and a sh 85b both with the same problem

need your help sir. i have a fs100 stilh trimmer. it runs on idle good. when squeeze trigger it rev up a little and kept on running but no power. turn the trimmer head but not strong to cut. i checked or replaced filter, exhaust arester, spark plug, new carb. nothing work. can you help me please
