Were you surprised by how much different a dirt bike is from a street bike? [FREE Guide] "Basic Techniques" guide to trail ride with confidence - motocrosshideout.com/basic/
@@MotocrossHideout The fact that I have to control the slide. And it's not like a road bike which you can always return back to normal out of the corner. Lean too much on a dirt bike and it will throw you off from the other side
Coming from road racing, I think dirt is way harder than street bikes. Riding around on the streets is alot easier than trying to navigate even simple trails. As well as motocross being way harder and more competitive compared to road racing. I was not slow on a road bike either, was running expert racer laptimes. It got too expensive for me so I switched to MX and my god learning MX is so much harder. Its also more competitive as well because of easier access, Ive been humbled for sure. I had my first MX race a few weeks ago and I have 16 year olds smoking me. I know this goes beyond how the bikes handle but just my 2c. Great vid!
Yes, but it also depends on crank HP vs RWHP. I just settled on 45 because that's close enough to most 250 2-strokes and 450 4-strokes... It's not the exact number that matters here, ha.
My 08 was 56 too. I was running 12 53 sprockets. Not much for a top speed but I kept the rear tire manufacturers in business. The guy that bought it came back with a big smile on his face and immediately said SOLD! It is intoxicating when that front tire always wants to come up. I sold it to get a 300 2 stroke and ironically the slower bike is way faster in single track and it doesn't beat the snot out of me all day long.
Just got a yz250 and I’ve been riding a gxsr600 for a long time and now the street bike kinda feels slow, like 3 and 4 will easily wheelie but the street bike will stay down in first of course it’s a lot different gearing 1=4 or 5 in terms of speed😂
Dirtbike's aren't typical geared for taking off from stop signs, causes people to learn how to change the gearing and chain so they aren't shifting gears mid turn. (if your street riding anyway) I'd also mention as soon as you get about 40mph on a dirt tire, you're going to notice your wheels probably aren't balanced well and the nobs are going to vibrate the bike a bit more than you'd be use to. which brings up another point, dirt bikes practically need to bath in thread lock. :p
You can go about 60mph on 750+cc sportbikes sometimes in 1st gear! You underestimated ha, but your right huge difference. I rode in a slightly wet dirt yesterday and it was the most fun ive ever had on any bike sliding it around. Except cleaning it. Thanks for the tips
@@Visualswitch5 Husqvarna 701 supermoto i HIGLY recommend it. I grabbed the 2018 which has the updated engine without all the annoying "rider aids" tech
701 supermoto is worlds away from being a dirt bike. Yeah i know i rode a 2022 model now a fe450 enduro the weight difference is night and day. Also the factory 701 totally lacks bottom power coming from factory compared to its 450 brethren.
85s are bloody killers, I still keep my 2006 RM despite having much more powerful bikes in garage too. Those tiny pocket rockets are fun to ride for sure. If only frame could handle 125cc engine ....
@@MotocrossHideout Nothing it helped heaps! just looking for more specific info on 2 strokes ie: burn marks on the plug ect and i wanna hear you make the noise haha
@@lmc7233 lol, gotcha. I don't pay that close attention to spark plug marks other than obvious colors that show it's way too rich or lean. For the casual trail rider, the butt and ear test works great in my opinion.
