You can try and change the neurotypical world to be more empathetic, which is great and I hope we can continue to increase acceptance -- but we live in an interdependent world that is unforgiving. You can either adapt to the neurotypical world, avoid it completely, or suffer the psychological consequences of getting bullied and socially outcast. Can you suggest other ways that might help young a-typical children learn and adapt to the external world without the negative aspects of ABA?
you seem to be contradicting yourself. At first you say you can try and change the neurotypical world, then you go on to say you can either adapt or avoid it completely, which statement are you standing behind? I urge you to look at what point you decide to move from one strategy to the other and why, and what kind of actions that lead to. any strategy applied has to start from a point of understanding of the self and the other, if you're not working from what actually is, you can't expect a functional outcome. let's pretend the child you are talking about is gay rather than autistic. Why would that justify abuse conducted by their guardian? How is MORE abuse helping the child become a secure and confident member of society? We all know that doesn't work, so why would it work with autistic people? Positive reinforcement is the way to go even for dogs, why should we treat humans worse than our pets?
Excellent analysis also I like that thing ye said about comparing nature to machines as being faulty as an atheistic analogy, it makes sense. Also, agreed it's not all about behaviors and things like that, just because we can't find what innately causes qualia doesn't mean we shoukd disregard it, and similarly i don't think the possibility of non-humans and even inanimate matter having qualia should be disregarded and our ignorance used to apathetically destroy things around us or justify harmful intent and/or action towards it. Ultimately, does it even matter if it's real or not if it's real to them? My answer is that it doesn't, and so what is *internal* should be respected as much as what is external. And if anyone was to say otherwise I'd probably poke them with a stick and tell them how their behavior isn't helpful and how i can't see their qualia so it probably doesn't exist
