She has a Leeds accent that's probably why you can't understand it, I have a Mancunian accent which I have to adapt when speaking to Americans, because apparently I talk to fast and my accent is weird !? I know I say me instead of my a lot but apart from that I think I sound normal!
Well, it's usual and normal for Mel B to have that accent because she is British. While Cardi B, it's like she just had a eureka moment and invented her way of speaking, it is not even an accent. It is confusing. Not working.
Kiara Campbell i use to like addriane now i just fucking dont bitch too extra like yuk her attempt at doing the cardi laugh with the roungue out is just fucking wrong
The cute part is that Mel is being so dead serious 😂like at first I thought she was tryna be funny or throw shade but that I seen her face and I’m like aw she’s genuinely trying to understand 😂❤️❤️
Marlena Montano interesting... I can barely understand anything she says. She doesn’t enunciate her words at all not to mention completely negating ending consonants. It’s a chore to try and listen to her and quite frankly just frustrates me because I’ve literally taught kindergarteners who’ve spoken better than her...my husband, who is trilingual (English being his 3rd language) asked me if she was an American the other day. When I told him yes he said that it was surprising because he never knows what she’s saying.
Bruhhh she never finishes her sentence. She always starts out with something and then the rest is all noises that she makes, meowww, okurrrr 😂😂Trying to understand her conversations is exhausting.
Marlena Montano I grew up in Miami around plenty of accents and also served as a missionary for a year teaching in an island in the South Pacific. I’ve been around accents all my life and I gotta tell you, it’s just her, lol. But it really is amazing that you can understand her. If she were in the market for a translator, I’d vote for you!
Simmy tan You don’t understand because you don’t know the art of language. First, you need to listen. Then, you need to use context clues. After that, use you imagination. I can tell you were not very good in language arts class.
I am not British, not American either, but frankly, I don't understand Cardi B when she talks/sings either. And it's not about Latinas, I understand Jennifer Lopez quite well...but Cardi B speaks....idk...differently and it goes above my head too.
She raps. Just for context; there's multiple types of artists. Opera singers, singers, choir singers, rappers, lyricists... In future references, try to use the term rap(s) for rappers. Not sing, please.
First of all, jennifer lopez is practically american, she speaks proper american english, her spanish is baaaad tho. Cardi b english, is a type of dominican english, kind of the bronx accent, but dominican /english/spanish and yes its hard to understand if youre not from the hood
@terrance Prescott she does sing though, look up the song La modelo she raps and sings really well. So don’t go correcting someone if you yourself don’t even know Cardi B can sing. I’m not even a fan of her and I knew that. smh 🙄
I think adrienne meant when she uses certain British slang that we don't use in the U.S. If you listen to grime music from england in sure there would be some things that wouldn't resonate with you
Ambar Alfaro I just said that like yesterday I was talking to my husband and I said I don't know why I just can't get into her it made no sense the way she be talkin I hear her on the radio I turn the station I am not going to even try to understand her anymore
Me too. I thought she was cute on that Vh1 Love & Hip Hop but I tried listening to that Bodak Yellow and was thinking what the heck have this new generation done to Hip-Hop music.
ThomasTekno Shut up dude. I’m from NYC. And I don’t talk like that. Half of the ppl I know don’t unless they are from a foreign country and came to New York. But this chick was born and raised in NYC and sounds like a foreigner with broken ass English. It’s hard to understand her. Which again makes no sense because she is American. No one I know that was born and grew up in the Bronx sounds like that. I mean you can have perfect English with a NYC accent. Ex, JLO, Evelyn Lozada, Azaelia Banks, Nicki Minaj. Many artists who grew up in NY you can UNDERSTAND them. This chick just dropped outta school, spoke Spanish growing up, and picked up English in the streets. Hence why she sounds like that. Terrible🤦🏾♀️
Funny how Adrienne said Mel has a British accent so we don't know what she's saying. Mel speaks the King's English so our version of English sounds broken to them. We are actually the ones with an accent and sound like Hillbillies to British people.
Americans actually have the original English accents. The higher class English wanted to separate themselves from the lower class so they stopped anouncestating their R's as strongly.
Meadow Gailer actually only the North East of England don’t pronounce their R’s and yes the British accents have changed but Americans do not have the same accent as we did when settlers immigrated to the US either.
Mel is actually speaking the Queen’s English which is from way before Queen Elizabeth II was even born. Americans mainly the ones in the NorthEast is the closest to the King’s English because when we left England, there was a king but like I said in another reply, Americans accents have changed over the years but the British’s accents have changed more.
@@meadowgailer5659 wtf?? No they don't. American accent is more based on Irish. They are not English or British. Did you just pull that information out your own arse or someone else's???
Well it’s normal. In Britain they speak different English than in American. In Spain they speak one Spanish and in Centrla and south America VARIOUS Spanish accent/ dialects etc. the same is with France’s French and “African” aka marrocco, Algier etc. Nothing new other the sky.
I agree with Mel B. Half the time I don’t really understand Cardi B either... and watching her speak in interviews is exhausting with all her sound effects. It’s like she’s malfunctioning and randomly makes noises. 😂😂😂
Faridie Vazquez exactly... she speaks so poorly, it truly is embarrassing. Not having a command of the English language when you’re a born and bred America is pitiful. There’s no excuse. I don’t care where you’re from or what you’re socioeconomic status is, there’s no excuse.
Mel was basically saying she didn't understand her slang terms mixed with her accent and Ardrienne took offense like Mel B was talking about her. Like, sit down. I
I understand her it's just her lyrics bore me. Then again I grew up in the time of Missy Elliott. When people used a lot more word play in their rap music. Also, the production was way better.
Alright Adrienne, we get it that you love Jlo and CardiB, but i honestly didnt see the reason for that clapback, was a bit much. And enough with the tongue thing, geez! You were definitely extra..
sirine van-dijk oh my god how can you claim that people in north london have Mel B’s accent? She has a Birmingham/ leeds one. That’s not a regular London accent, what the fck.
Not everyone is blessed with the same educational opportunities or communication abilities. Cardi B's communication style is a reflection of many things (environment, culture, education, upbringing etc). Adrienne was defending Cardi B's right to be herself without being subjected to judgments on her character or intellect. Lets build one another up and give credit where its due!!!
I think its more of not understanding certain terms the use in England. I would expect someone from another country to understand U.S. slang. I wouldn't expect someone from the suburbs in the U.S to understand hood slang either.
No grown person should be talking like Cardi B. in public. Keep that mess at home with your close friends and family. #outheresoundingcrazythinkingitscute
She cant change the way she speaks wtf. She grew up in a place where you will naturally begin to use slang or speak differently. Learn your facts before you speak on something #stopjudgingandliveyourownlife
@@gobblestopper768 Of course she can. I'm born Canadian from Toronto my backgrounds is Jamaican, Chinese and Indian. I speak patois It has slangs. She doesn't want to she's comfortable. But she has a choice to.
I’m sorry but hear me out ! Why do they always kiss the celebrities ass that they’re talking about! I like how Mel didn’t care and actually spoke her mind! And I agree sometimes cardi can’t be understood she doesn’t have the most proper grammar .
Thanks for commenting something relevant! Other than the comments emphasizing cardi’s “influence” and positive “pizzaz”, that are non existent lol. I made the comparison of a surgeon to cardi b to establish a dichotomy where society values people, it’s very messed...
@@jennilopez6649 so the pretext of her being an illiterate individual is the fact that she was born in New York. People in South Africa retain elevated literate aptitudes , (higher than her’s) explain that!
@@jackdowern2979 You don't understand the word illiterate if you're using it to describe Cardi B. She's not illiterate. She may be hard to understand, but there is nothing illiterate about her.
Adrienne got all salty, Lord forbid you say an honest criticism about one of her fellow Latinas 🙄 Mel didn’t mean no harm she was just stating the obvious, Adrienne was mad disrespectful with the British accent come back..she needs to chill out smh
Get educated then. I’m white as hell from the south but I know about that Dominican/boriqua shyt! You gotta be willing to appreciate and learn about other cultures and what they contribute
maeflower522 she forgot she was pretending to be classy now she’s jumping on the ima ghetto girl too look st mee I’m just like cardi I know all the lingo but I thought u did not want people to see that side of u an pretend to be a good classy girl now she she exposed herself she just as ratchet
I know right. So cheap. Who the heck told these girls they look cute attractive doing this. Hella ridiculous. If you do that next to me Ima straight up look at you like a psycho
Sometimes I don't understand what Cardi says either, but I kinda assumed it was because English is only my 3rd language. On the other hand, I always understand what Mel B says, she speaks very properly.
Adrienne talkin about “i dont understand when british speak” to Mel B. Yeah Adrienne just like that interview of you trying hard on Gordo and La Flaca that you knew how to speak spanish lmao “ yo fue chanel” lmfaooooo
Raphael Ferrero lol so true! Adrianne is so ignorant it's pathetic. She is so Latina and so New York and can't even speak proper Spanish and has not lived in New York for years. She is so fake
@Javi Ruiz and the whole “is the latina in me its the adobo i eat” ugh shut up. She’s been acting all uppity after getting married. With her “GIVE ME THE MOST TALENTED THE MOST BEAUTIFUL WOMAN, a man will cheat because the relationship is missing something” no homegirl cheating is cheating period. Wtf damn she got hella annoying
I agree Mel B doesn’t look the same. Her her nose looks completely different to me for some reason. She looked better before, but she’s still a beautiful woman.
"Jesus said forgive." He also said, Don't cast your pearls before swine, lest they trample them and you underfoot. Yes, he said it. Forgiveness does NOT mean to cast your pearls AGAIN!
No dear, Mel B speaks the real English language. The Americans speak a dialect of the real English language. And the hood people speak a dialect of American dialect.
Acacius there isn’t really a “real English” though because there are so many different accents within England itself, but even if there were it would probably be Received Pronunciation, which is definitely not Mel B’s accent.
You guys know how to take a light comment, in which I’m complementing this woman, and screw it all up with your technical stuff and misunderstandings. Typical RU-vid 😂
Tiffany Chisholm she lives in the nice place in LA. She is a valley girl. She has had money and has been out of the projects for YEARS. Let's keep it real. She is so fake. I have lived in NYC for I think 9 years and you rarely see people talking or acting like that. Even the ghetto people
Javi Ruiz I grew up in rural Virginia and I have lived all over the east coats and I have hard plenty of people talk like Cardi in every state that I've been to. Its a hood culture thing and if you don't understand its cool but it seems millions of others get it cause the people shot her to stardom
Jerome Carden I guess when you come from the the streets then I guess obviously you would relate and be surrounded by people like her. This is why we need better education in the US and those people need to stop having ghetto children.
The fact that you think I don't know that everyone has an accent makes the three of you sound so stupid. I'm from the Bahamas and I have an accent but English is my first language. So what she's saying about not understanding Cardi B slang or dialect is funny because I have had multiple experiences where this has happened. Especially when I'm in the airport. I can speak to someone in the Bahamas that's from a different Island and not understand them fully and we laugh about the misunderstanding together... Jezzz you can't even relate to a joke on RU-vid without someone jumping down your throat. So annoying!
Your dumb ass literally just reexplained what i said. And i stand by my original comment and the explanation YOU needed for thinking I didn't know everyone has an accent.
I disagree with Adrienne because Mel B has a right to be misunderstood coming from a foreign country with different lango. Cardi B sounds like she had a slow moment so she makes up for it with sound effects. #Difference
Im confused as to why there are so many comments based on race. Mel b is almost 20 years older, from a different country and why would she be familiar with terms like 'P' for project. We don't even use the term projects to describe such areas in England. Alot of Americans think people in England speak the same but we don't. Please google strong Yorkshire accent and tell me you can understand that with ease. I am all for standing for your people but calling her racist us just extra.
I don't know any American that think British people should the same. What are you talking about? The only reason why calling her racist is extra is because they both have African ancestry. She was the one that brought up P's...
I agree whole heartedly Cardi B has a strong sccent and to top it off she raps/ speaks American slang. Expecting people from other countries to automatically understand her is ignorant. Besides why would Mel B be rascist?
@@sonniekariuki exactly. I'm African American and sometimes I look up rap lyrics because I don't catch them. In one song she said, "your pussy smells like turtle tank." I can see people being confused...lol
