@@liamjenkins244 I think in the Kennett years they went for that but it was a retrograde step. Certainly works for retro round. But all gold back is a classic jumper design for Hawthorn with brown shorts.
@@liamjenkins244 ha ha i'm a bit older. the white socks looked a disaster especially on brereton who had a barrel chest but skinny legs. made him look like a chicken. If I was going to compare Harley Reid's attitude and competitivenss to anyone I'd say Dermott Brereton. Big time player.
Symbolically, an Anchor around or from the neck revealed one who is landlocked or weighed down. If you look closely, Fremantle performed terribly whilst wearing the Anchor, and the moment they changed it to the chevron, made a GF. Novelty alone does not suffice to those eyes behind the scenes.
Freo retro designs! heres an idea. actually wear the purple and green colour that they actually played in, instead of a darker retro versionFreo can also wear a combination of East and South Frem. Remember how upset Sharks fans were when Freo first wore a retro white jumper with a few insipid red chevrons, very South Freo. But Freo could certainly play with the anchor jumper to make it look more like an anchor and less like a seagull. Furthermore they could wear green or red shorts. They've never actually worn that colour shorts but adds a fake retro element and puts the colour out there for the fans.
Eagles perhaps should have gone with the gold shorts today. After all in a few matches in the 80s they did wear gold shorts with home and away jumpers. It would have been far more commonsense than to wear white shorts, when North already have white in the jumper.
Certainly the Dockers can easily play around with more colour on the chevrons. Your idea is good with green above the chevrons. The jumper could be lighter though. I also think that they could play around with green and red between the white chevrons with colours sleeve trimmings. I just don't like the white away jumper. If they could wear coloured shorts it would be tolerable.
Freo retro could narrow the white at the front and look more like an anchor and less like a seagull. Red or green shorts would be sensational. Not retro as Freo never did it. In the 70s to 80s it was a thing clubs regularly did (Ess and bullies in red shorts). Its a retro gesture and would add more green and red. Purple jumper with red shorts... classic AFL retro even if not Freo retro.
Footscray... I think stick to Royal Blue. But the classic Bulldogs retro is the white red white stripe in the middle with more white. That's retro. white sleep trimmings and collar.
I wouldn't have a white lion on Brisbane. I know Fitzroy and Brisbane both had white on their jumper, but its plain. And also "Kimba the White Lion" while a classic isn't the image you want really. I reckon they should demand blue shorts on retro round. I also think as an away jumper against Suns Giants Swans etc Brisbane should always wear blue shorts and make the blue yolk a bit lower at front and back. They've be wearing almost their usual jumper but there wouldn't be a clash due to the extra blue.
The retro sponsor logos are FILTHY I hope companies see the value in going along with this sort of thing Wests Tigers simularity is kind of cool as it creates a sense of identity for the Western Sydney area
I love that Freo guernsey. Green on top with the anchor. I've always thought that design could make a great home guernsey if the club decided to bring back the anchor and the original colours. Maybe add a red collar and/or red sleeves ?
I reckon if they ever wear chevrons they need to have red and green between the white chevrons with sleeve trimmings. Or away all the four colours should be used. Tri coloured chevrons. Has anyone ever designed a Dockers purple jumper with a green anchor with white trimmings, like how Eagles sometimes have white trimmings on wings. It might look rubbish mind you.
@@edoss_cohen_8825 And the Italians... I think the anchor could be done so much better. Not sure purple shorts work too well. It looks like they've pulled their shorts up too high.
Rate that, hard for a lot of club to wear retro jumpers as a lot of them have no difference in what they wore 100 years ago. Melbourne wear the retro royal blue jumper as a clash, Collingwood wear their og as a clash, etc and so forth
I'd like to see St Kilda with red white and black at the back. Mostly white. I think they're wearing an away jumper a bit like this. Having a white back better emphasises the red and the black on the jumper. They can go with any colour shorts. I think its much better than the usual black back. Wear a white back and they rarely need to wear alternatives really. In their history they used to have a tri striped back that was mostly white.
Could Carlton's retro jumper have fake lace ups. I know its a bit fake, but it is a traditional look without stuffing around with the navy and CFC much.
Should the AFL return the old AFL logo from the 90s back or if not can you make an idea that if the AFL were to change the logo can you make up ideas please. Thanks Matt N
At the footy today with the Dockers. The retro jumper was clearly darker and the white anchor was wider at the top. Poorly designed. When has anyone seen an anchor shaped like that. Get it right and the fans will come on board. I'd like to see a video which shows club logos done badly. Anchor, Port's lack of lightning bolts, Brisbane Bears famous BB logo. Eagles wings in the 2015s... before they got the wings properly shaped again like the 80s... Melbourne's shape of yolk... South Freo small V.
You realise the anchor is shaped like that because this retro jumper is based on the 90s original jumpers that were made of wool, the anchor changed in the 2000s once they could digitally print it onto the jumper.
@@mattn1 The anchor was far too wide. It was just poorly done today. Eagles managed to shape their wings perfectly in the 1980s. I reckon the Dockers should have done better in the 1990s and today. I'm not convinced you're correct. If the Eagles could, then why couldn't Freo.
@@mattn1 I felt today the anchor seemed wider (the part from the neck) and wasn't as deep. Also far darker. Freo needed to replicate the jumper better to get the colours right and shape better. I still say, the fans want to see green and red return.
@@mattn1 The wings are superb. I don't think sewing is the issue. I just reckon they didn't think getting the anchor right was important. You could see that in the way the away jumper was green with anchor and purple above with red trimmings. Not a lot of thought there. But they should bring in the extra colours at the very least. Get the anchor right. It can still be an outline but it has to be narrower and longer on the jumper. To actually look like an anchor.
