Myself aslo suffering from this excessive burping and can't stop it...it's been almost 3 years now...when I get this excessive burping I try to divert my mind like playing online games or keeping myself busy....but at night it's rrally hard
Sounds like H. pylori if it's paired with epigastric stabbing, gnawing or deep pain. If it's not, it might be SIBO if you also get bloated after eating FODMAPs. Look into this if you recognize this.
Over a decade ago, I got sick, IDK, I think I ate something bad and/or got food poisoning, I don't really remember the specifics, but about a week later, I started experiencing this. I can pretty much burp on command and It's something I struggled a lot with Initially, but now It's pretty much a part of my daily life. It's good to know that It doesn't seem to be anything too serious though.
I wonder if our stomach linings are just very fragile and easily ruined. I had mine destroyed by an antidepressant medication (I can’t remember the name) when I was 17. I’m really great full to come across this.... I have been suffering excessive burping to the point where I can’t even breathe. I’m also bloated , like I’m 8 month pregnant and can’t even dress up.. I went number of doctors and took hundreds of tablets and nothing worked. Finally I did endoscopy and was told I have stomach ulcers but again the medication is not working. It only somehow reduced the belching. But I’m still bloated and it’s also painful. So now after listening to you I might have aerophagia
This video doesn't address all the causes of excessive burping. You probably have the wrong bacteria digesting the food in your small intestive instead of your own stomach and thus creating excessive amount of gas. It is called SIBO, it has various causes including taking antibiotics or anti-acid for too long. I had this for 10years and still have it (despite being careful of what I eat and doing intermittent fasting) it really sucks. F the doctors who just don't know what they're doing prescribing those drugs...
@Naziid Abdi glad to hear that, hope you'll figure out what you have and eventually heal. it took years for me to be able to put a word on this digestive issue i was having. in the beginning i had no idea where it came from, i even thought it was psychological... then i remembered it all started after i took anti-acid pills because of some heartburn i was having at that time. then I discovered about SIBO on internet and about the fact that it was often linked to those anti-acid drugs or antibiotics. if you took some of those before your bloating problems occured it's very likely that you have SIBO but it may also have other root causes...
I’m experiencing your symptoms going on 3 months. Anything I eat or drink I burp also pass gas. Are you still experiencing your symptoms if not can you please share with me your cure? In June I’m having a colonoscopy but till then I’ll just have to wait..

I am 58 and in very good health. I teach and practice jiu jitsu 3-4 times a week, and ride my bike 1-2x a week. My diet is good and nothing has changed at all in my life with the exception of my sister being in the hospital for covid since December 2021. She’s in a long term facility and is still on a ventilator. I’ve noticed my digestion isn’t as efficient as it was a few years ago. If I don’t eat lunch prior to 1 pm I could have real bad indigestion during jiu jitsu practice, which is at 6 pm. So if I eat after 1 pm it has to be a light salad or fruit or veggies. I’ve had this digestion issue for about 3 years. However in the past month it has gotten a lot worse. Where as before the indigestion only bothered me during jiu jitsu, but now it bothers me about an hour after eating and lasts for 4 plus hours. For example, I had kefir and pumpkin seeds for a snack around 2 pm and I felt bloated about an hour after. That feeling lasted several hours and once the feeling subsided I didn’t feel like eating all night. In the morning I always feel great. Typical breakfast is eggs and potatoes. This doesn’t bother me that much. What I have for lunch is typically what will trigger the bloating and indigestion followed with random burps. I’ve tried cutting out wheat products and drinking ACV with my water, kimchi, and kefir. Even probiotic capsules. In the past week the only time I didn’t feel bloated was after dinner a few nights ago. I had a rib eye steak, French fries, beans, and a salad. I did take 3 probiotic capsules an hour before. But I did take probiotics before the kefir and seeds too and that didn’t help.
It's likely because of microbiotic overgrowth. Look into SIBO (Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth); it's a MAJOR cause of gas production in the upper GI-tract, and EXTREMELY underrecognized and thus underdiagnozed. It's cause is often food poisoning, causing post-infectious anti-vinculin antibodies causing an auto-immune response to the vinculin in the nerve cells of the enteric nervous system, which damages the migrating motor complex, which causes stagnant food remains in the small intestine, which causes bacterial overgrowth. Testing consists of a glucose or lactulose breath test that checks for the gases hydrogen gas, methane, and hydrogen sulfide. Most tests only test for the first two, which is a bad thing as it can lead to false negative results. Treatment consists out of taking appropriate antibiotics; 550mg of rifaximin 3 times daily for hydrogen gas, and neomycin or metronidazole if you have methane overgrowth. During this time, you should eat some FODMAPs as to keep the bacteria fed, because they become resistant to antibiotics when unfed. Phase two consists out of taking a prokinetic, preferrably prucalopride 0.5mg at least 4 hours after your last meal at bedtime, and fast at least 12 hours after ingestion. Don't snack between meals as to not interrupt migrating motor complex function, eat very low-FODMAP in this phase, contrary to the first phase, and fast as much as you can. Do this for about 2 monts. This should get rid of the SIBO. Phase three is avoiding a relapse by sometimes taking a prokinetic when you feel like you're getting bloated or start burping again a bit more.

Perhaps you should cut out dairy including kefir. Dairy is one of the most common allergies amongst humans and almost always causes indigestion (even if it has probiotics). Dairy is just really hard on the human digestive system as it’s from another species and was really never meant for us. Maybe get an allergy test. If you’re already taking probiotics you really don’t need to eat so many probiotics rich foods and vise versa. Kimchi and sauerkraut, also pickles and miso soup are really good sources of probiotics on their own.
I am not sure if your reply was for me but I don't touch dairy very often. Not sure why I drank kefir since that occurred a year ago. The bloating and gas has been way better lately. Intermittent fasting has helped. I try not to eat until after 12 noon. @@Letthembelightpeaceonelove

Thank you for this very informative presentation. Have this Supragastric burping more intensely this past year but it has become harder to release the trapped gas after 8 months on PPI’s. Now on DGL Licorice instead of PPI to deal with acid reflux but the terrible feeling of fullness from trapped gas gives me anxiety as I’m unable to get a full breath until the gas is released. Then feel much better. Now to find out what’s causing it in addition to swallowing air…ie SIBO, lack of Bile/Enzymes etc.
gosh i feel so understood right now! same thing happens to me, i get so bloated from trapped gas and it makes me anxious too, and certain burps will make me feel the air actually coming out of my stomach, and the relief is awesome like i can take a deep breath, but it only last a few minutes max😭

I went on a six month streak with those symptoms. I went to doctors and they were treating me for GERD, after endoscopy gave them nothing. Till I came across this term Aerophagia, and someone mentioned that try breathing slow, be aware of breath until it becomes a habit,, I no longer burp every 20 seconds. And it's gone and I breathe normally now.

Know this though, if you have a sensation of air stuck in your throat and that is causing you to burp, then yes, also, psychological conditions like stress and depression may also cause this, if you notice when you're focusing hard on something else then you won't be burping, or when you're sleeping. Then it's more psychological and slow breathing may help you get rid of that.

@@mylapallisrinivas4114 I believe you've been told to stay away from oily spicy and hot food, you have to do that continually for atleast two months. Warm food, okay, no spice, no chilly, no outside fast foods also no sugar if you can. Also avoid drinking tea. For atleast two months. Take probiotic foods and add fibrous food on your diet. But you have to count how much fiber, an adult should atleast get 35mg of fiber in their diet, so get that much, too much fiber may give you indigestion and more gas. So, basically, take probiotic foods like curds, yogurts and others if you can and fibrous foods from pulses, and vegetables.
After Covid vaccine, I suffer from a severe burping issue like 1times in a second. SIBO test says hydrogen level about 73 high at 135min where baseline is 2. Even methane was about 22. Same foods sometime causing severe burping for 3 hr at night. Rifaxin and neomycin don’t work. Please help.

I have been struggling with burping since 2018 it is 2023 and i still don’t know what this is. So i cannot burp involuntarily i feel the gas in my throat and always have to push it out. I used to get this when I was in my early 20’s! I totally know what it feels like and it sucks so much. You wake up gasping and find your stomach and upper gut is brick hard and full of air and you have to get up and move around until you can eventually belch it out. I made several changes to my lifestyle over the years and never get this anymore at all. I feel strongly that it’s what you eat and how it affects your body. I literally googled anti inflammatory diet and ate as many of those foods as possible and googled what are inflammatory foods and cut those as much as possible 😊

I am burping alot but my main problem is air always moving in my intestines as if it's dragging my intestines...I ran an upper endoscopy test and everything cam back normal...I am confuse what exactly is causing these sensation in my intestines and it's making me feel anxious.i
Don't worry to much about gurgling belly. It's a sign you body is doing its job. Often this is the gallbladder kicking in to clear toxins. Try to manage stress levels as anxiety can trigger upset bowels. And then we wonder why our bowels are upset and have more anxiety. Just rest with the idea that when your belly gurgles its doing what it's supposed to and is functioning properly.
Every time I lie down for 1 minute, my stomach faces upwards and then I get up and sit up and I belch a lot. So every time I sleep on my stomach. What's wrong with my body 🙄??
Does she take any non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as aspirin, ibuprofen, etc before developing this? If not, it might be Crohn disease, or an infection. Have her undergo a colonoscopy. See a gastro-enterologist. If you can't pay for it. If it's Crohn disease, she should get real medical help because it's incurable and very dangerous in the long term. Dr I have a question. I was treated for h pylori recently. I tested negative a month later. But I’m constantly burping after meals and passing gas. Is that normal? My doctor says it’s normal. But I don’t know. I didn’t have this problem during the treatment. 🙁
Great video. Im currently experiencing over 2 weeks of almost constant loud excessive burping and quite a lot of wind as well. I have never experienced anything like this at all. Im 52. Due to fatigue i have had blood tests and an ECG which two doctors have said are ok but im being sent for a CT scan . This has me more than a little worried. Should i be concerned for something far more serious that blood tests can miss? Any information would be welcome
@@mahezabeennisha6787 had the CT scan 2 weeks ago. Didnt spot anything in my bowel but my lymph glands in my chest are up. I went tested positive for Covid the next day so i must have had it prior to the scan. Im awaiting another scan and potential biopsy. Interesting thing was the belching decreased massively when i was coughing for 10 days. I have now tested negative and the belching is back. Its all very strange

The belching (today aside) has decreased substantial from what it was. I quit my job a few weeks ago so dont have the stress of that any more. Could there be a connection? I genuinely dont know
@@gregcruse4647 Sounds a lot like long covid Greg. A lot of people report GI issues with infection and COVID has been shown to persist in the gut long after recovery. How are you finding your symptoms now?
I think I found out that it is called "Supragastric Belching". Maybe you can find out how to treat it. I find that stoping all thinking and just breathing in and out slowly helps while I just focus on something boring. Try that. Also the medicine simethicone (or Gas-X) helps too. Good luck.

Dear GutDr , since 8 month before I've started burping and progressively burps gets excessive and this burps dont stops even for 5 or 6 hours after drinking 1 ml of water . I take upper endoscopy for two time and doctors tells me everything is ok and I dont have any H pillory or anything else. Now they recommend me to visit a psychologists. And even after 1 month nothing has changed , I dont really know what to do I cant take a barium x ray test because I cant drink anything and now am alive with serum .... Try peanut butter. I was told that by a nurse one time to try to get the patient to stop hiccups for the one hour mri exam. It worked ! I had to do that a few times for patients to get through the mri and it worked every time. Not sure how long it last ? But even if a big spoon fill works a few hours that’s some relief

If the pain is around the stomach (epigastric pain), it might be Helicobacter pylori infection. If it's on your lower left or lower right side, it's possibly an infection of the large intestine. Everything in between is most likely a small intestinal problem. Get a test for H. pylori, SIBO and make sure you don't have any infections, such as a bacterial or parasitic one. And make sure you don't have inflammatory bowel disease such as ulcerative colitis or Crohn disease. All the best.
