Why American animation is so disappointing. 

Bojack Horseman, Avatar: The Last Airbender, the Spiderverse movies, Invincible - what do all of these things have in common? They're all one of a kind in America. Japan has been a topic of discussion in recent years, and if it does one thing right... it's anime (for the most part).
Animation has been long seen as a medium "for children". More recently (in history), studios have created animated series/films for adults. But the glaring issue with these two pieces of media is that they almost only cover the comedy genre - and in terms of television - they're almost always episodic! Where are the narrative stories? Where are the dark, gritty, and poignant animated dramas? Today I talk about the pitiful American system in which animated media are produced and how we could potentially see a change with that in the future. And maybe... that change has already started.
