@@gyula6516 Heres an idea why don't they do the same in the past and combine both M139's to make a v8 and lower the displacement for emissions? LIKE THEYVE DONE IT BEFORE!!
That M157 with 670 mothereffing lb.ft of torque was an absolute MONSTER! My uncle had one and from highway cruising speed at 70 mph you could give it a quarter throttle and be at 140 in a few seconds, that thing was fucking ridiculous! There's absolutely no way I could ever own one, my license would be gone within a couple weeks...
@@azizchemli2526 nope. I know exactly what I said. The M113K is a great engine but it still is only a street engine in AMG cars. The M119, in all its sizes and guises, is an awesome engine with a winning racing pedigree. Sure the cam phasers were an issue, but run a high quality oil and drive it like it was meant to be driven, it will live a long life.
M113k is the only one I’ve owned and it’s stole my heart. I will get another if mine ever fails But I’m in love with the w124 and w140. Maybe I’ll have to get one with this engine
If you think about it M119 is M117 alu block with M104-like heads. I think they learned a lot from M102 Cosworth DOHC heads and applied it into M104 and M119 creating pretty much the best old-school Mercedes-Benz engines before the Chrysler merger/disaster. I also love the original M100 6.3 but in many ways it is not performance engine and definitely not AMG engine. It is limo/truck engine designed with 60s race-car technology for extreme endurance at full power.
Im a Mercedes Benz, and particularly AMG fanboy, and I have to say that this video was excellent. Youre on par with some of the biggest youtubers around, I dont know why i had not discovered this channel before. I swear im binge watching videos, cheers, and keep it up!
Unfortunately, AMG has really lost its way in my eyes. I am honestly shocked at some of the Mercedes I see with an AMG badge these days. Gone are the times when a Merc used to fly-by and create the same thunder as a BF109. I still hope to get my hands on a W140 V8 before the roads fall silent ;(
Have you literally heard any modern AMG that does not sound awesome? I'd say the closes contender is the new A35 AMG, But almost every other Benz AMG sounds like A growling, big V8, high top speed monster. Why discriminate what car an AMG badge goes onto. Any model with the full AMG treatment is awesome.
@@marxthesocialist5231 From a suspension, aerodynamic and overall technology point of view, AMG is still making great cars but they are inherently different. There was a time when I could hear a growl in the distance and could straight away tell you it was an AMG. I just get a little sad when I hear noises usually from a Golf or I30 N (Both great cars in their own right) coming from something that looks like the C43.
This a really fantastic combination of informative slides and great sounding video, with very well timed and well executed narration throughout. L whole lot like older videos, and getting better.
My C32’s M112K is an absolute beast 20 years and 140k miles later. I’ve had it for a few months and not a single mechanical issue has come up, and even runs 0-60 in 5.3 for a mediocre run. And I bought all this for $7k, AMG for life!
Not to mention the immense tuning potential despite the Stone Age technology of being 3V and SOHC, pulleys get you at 400hp easily, and some packages get up to 450hp from a blown low tech 3.2L. Absolutely nuts
What an amazing channel. You provide content that’s not only better than similar channels on RU-vid, but it’s one of the best car/engine/engineering/history channels ever created! No hyperbole. There’s so reasons why this channel deserves such plaudits: • Consistent and popular subject matter that appeals to a wide range of people. • Detailed and comprehensive explanation of complex information in an accessible manner. • Thoroughly researched and very informative. • Fantastic production quality with beautiful archive footage. • High and consistent episodic output, particularly considering the production quality and level of detail. • An entertaining and personable presenter. This channel is a ‘must watch’ for every gearhead on the planet! Keep up the fantastic work!
I love your videos on tiktok. Spend hours scrolling on your account. I’m so happy to see you on here can’t wait to watch you grow to one of the biggest car channels here
Agreed. It makes me happy that he’s showing love to all sorts of engines and manufacturers, not just one market or brand. Just goes to show that we live in the golden age with hundreds, if not thousands of incredible motors and cars to choose from.
Best AMG video I’ve seen on RU-vid. I love this channel. Your astute research, editing, and narrating are spot on. If you have a Patreon I’d love to support the channel! So awesome. Thank you.
The M113K is legendary. I want an E55 AMG so badly because I would want to pulley swap it to a smaller clutchless pulley rather than the very large clutched pully found on it from the factory
For clutchless pulley u will need tons of cooling. Which will cost you more than pulley and tune it self. Using 76mm clutched on my w215 with huge heat exchanger and cwa100-3 and still have cooling issues time to time. Hard to get lover than 70-80 degree in Celsius on WOT when there is 30-35 degrees outside..
You've really outdone yourself with this series. This video in particular will solve many of the explanations I've had with people concerning the various engines of AMG and the numbering used to designate their models. Thanks for putting it all in one place!!! Have you considered doing a series on the flat 6 engines of Porsche??? I'm not sure how you'd want to break down the versions, but I'd love to see your analysis of engines from the GT lineup (GT3 & GT2) specifically. Maybe air cooled versus water cooled or Mezger versus the later generations?
I like to think “337” represents the 337 variant VW MKIV GTI. Nice work, I enjoy the exhaust note clips ( Greta audio quality) and your informational showmanship.
The videos are great and a large part of it is your voice/delivery. I have no idea if you narrate/present professionally, but if you don’t, you should.
Great video dude, no unnecessary informations and talking around, I like that 😁 could you do a video on all non amg V8s or just the greatest non amg engines?
Your channel has blown up! Rightfully so! I fucking love this channel and the knowledge you have is intense. Asking for a video on Volvo's T5 engine! Either way, I'm glad I subbed because these are great vids
It may not be their best engine overall, but the M156 is just unbeatable in terms of character. Just the thought of them putting a 6.2 liter in something as small as a C-class coupé is crazy.
This was great. Makes me want to get rid of my charger and go back to Mercedes. Definitely been considering it between that and the Ram Rebel. Can’t come to a decision yet.
These vids are so entertaining. I’d like to see Porsche 992 flat 6 and how the f does it sound so good with the those turbos, also debunk myth that they aren’t fast?
I love that this channel talks about everything as if it's the best ever thing with no compare. But everything gets the exact same treatment when it's their turn.
