Why an Invincible Movie Won't Work 

Even if they could pull it off. We don't need it. Invincible is one of the best comic runs i've ever read. And the cartoon adaptation is brilliant. A third version is not really necessary.

When I heard fan cast that wanted Chamlet as mark I said “The fans don’t even deserve a live action movie”

They Should put all their budget into the show instead of just making a movie season 3 hasn't come out yet and they already renewed for season 4 they should try to prioritize realeasing those Seasons first and finish the show before even thinking it needs a movie.

The only way they could make it work in films funnily enough would be making multiple movies like a cinematic universe imagine before invincible we get a Guardians of the globe movie maybe Mark could have a small role but make the whole movie about everyone’s relationship with Omniman and the end have him kill the guardians which then leads into an invincible film

I disagree with is the story being too long. Half of the things that happened in season 1 of Invincible actually happened after Nolan and Mark fought in the comics. You could 100% streamline the story and take out many of the side plots the make the story more focused around Mark and his dad. You would miss out on some of the cooler side storied but it could fit and work well in a 2-3 hour long movie if done right. The show changed A LOT from the comic, the show added a lot of new things, moved around events and modified most of the existing content and that was met with praise, if the movie changes things in a good way it won't be met with much backlash. Robert Kirkman said he wanted to make the movie perfect so when it does release even if fans aren't happy about it, it will be the perfect Invincible origin and movie or as close to that as it can be in his eyes. With that much effort put it, I doubt it will be bad and introducing a wider audience to the character by retelling the story isn't bad. We've had 3 different spidermans that are different but all well received and Invincible is kinda like that as well with the 2 adaptations that already existed.

I imagine if they made the movie it would have to be the origin story like you said, and it would probably focus mostly on the main Invincible and Omni-man plot lines. That’s honestly probably the main reason they’re even considering doing the movie, because that on its own *is* a great concept for a movie. The problem to me is more the pacing and the tone. The show did such an excellent job of fleshing out Mark’s journey in season 1, perfectly to time with the growing mystery of what was going on with his dad, and then the intersection of those two plot lines was perfect. In a movie, that would obviously be the third act reveal and it just wouldn’t hit the same way. It could still work I guess, just wouldn’t be as good. Tone is an even bigger issue. The way the comics play around with the idea of comic tropes and the show plays with Saturday morning cartoons is unique. It’s funny and satirical but not too ironic. I think it would be hard to replicate that tone in a live-action, without leaning too far into the Marvel quips, or the dark/edgy Boys type thing. I definitely think you’re spot on with the change thing. Especially because unlike a character like Spider-Man, whose story has been told many times before in different ways, Invincible has ONE linear run from beginning to end. It’s a fully-formed story. So it’s less like bringing to life an MCU character, and more like adapting a book series. In that sense, Mark Grayson is more like Harry Potter than he is Peter Parker.

Invincible is better as a Big-Budget Live-Action TV Series similar to The Boys showing the colorful comic-book accurate costumes.

We don't need more adaptations. Alan Moore was right, leave comics alone. I was bored watching season two, it felt like I could predict the future.

Only two good things I can possibly see come out of it 1 the action I think the action could be pretty cool but expensive 2 whatever casting they have for mark I’d like to see him show up in the cartoon with some sort of multiverse stuff maybe have him help out during the invincible war idk

Who's this movie gonna be for? Comic fans have the comics and people who don't read comics have the show. If you're trying to appeal to an even more general audience with a live action movie I don't think they'd like the story in that form anyways and fans will absolutely hate it.

I think the only way this could work is by making an image comics cinematic universe and have invincible come way down the the line after Omniman, Cecil, the guardians, etc had their own movies that show their stories and lives before mark got his powers and then Mark’s origin story would have to be told in 3 movies like MCU Spiderman. Change is inevitable and it’s a good thing. Fans will just have to accept that and casuals who don’t know invincible won’t mind and there’s a lot more of them than the fans who know invincible so they’ll make the movie make enough money

I'll be 100% real with you, an invincible movie doesn't have to be an origin story, the show is popular enough that the people going to the cinema don't need one, you are seeing the movie idea as bad because you believe it has to be an origin story, it doesn't, the movie can be an arc in the future after a particular season and what not
