Uecker being called "that announcer" pains me. I'll take this opportunity to post this Norm MacDonald story about Uecker... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-PE7l9-f18UM.html
I'm just imagining a middle aged baseball announcer spending the entire 2 hour broadcast going into intricate detail about every aspect of furry culture on live television, all while his co hosts are trying desperately to get him to go back to talking about baseball.
I was also really surprised by that. He might be "playing himself" but it's still not easy to get close to a natural delivery in a voice booth if you're not used to it.
I guffawed when he delivered those lines. The inflection, tonation, he wears it on his face... dare I say he could have an equally storied career in animation.
@@mrslipnslide251 I know like for example there's been plenty of video games where sports players have been brought in to voice themselves in the game but the delivery is just off when compared to the professional voice actors that are brought in alongside them
Keep ‘em guessing, Cutch. Keep ‘em guessing. Not like he’s known to be a Joey Votto type goofball either Cutch is one of the most professional ball players of the modern era!
UPDATE: McCutchen tweeted "Furies" on June 29th, 2023, and went 2-4 with a single, double, run scored and the Pirates won 5-4. The next day he went 3-5 with a HR, a single, and a double, for another Pirates 8-7 win (still likely riding the Furries wave).
I Thought that said kill buff and just thought of him seeing a furry and killing everyone in the area while you can hear "TRIPLE KILL" "QUADRUPLE KILL"
My girlfriend did a run through of the bar exam at the convention center in Pittsburgh. When it was over they were let out into a see of furries. Turns out anthrocon was going on at the same time in the same building. They had no clue prior and for a second thought they were suffering a mass delusion.
As a furry, one of my favorite things is seeing the reactions of normies when a convention roll around. The absolute shock and confusion that comes from it is priceless. Anime cons also have this, but not to the extent of Furry cons.
@@darienb1127 Further Confusion was literally contemporaneous with some girls' volleyball tournament, so normies and furries were easily enmeshing at that point
This is so funny, went to college in Pittsburgh and used to read those McCutchen tweets, then one day I saw one of my professors post on instagram in a fursuit. Thank you Cutch for teaching me what furries are.
@@kaiyotee2475 i was into anthro art for some time in my youth, and drew antroporomphic characters. One time one furry guy asked me to draw his OC cat. He was strange, but i did it anyway. I drew it just like a regular cat, as best as i could, nothing offensive. Many years passed, i was already disillusioned with some inner parts of furry culture, and what i see? A video about that fucking guy being a zoophile and a pedophile! In no way saying that every furry is an awful person, god forbid! But such creeps attracted to the community like metal nails to a magnet
@@alexkozliayev9902 ohhh yeah. The one problem with having a really chill and relaxed community is that creeps decide to make themselves at home. And, unfortunately, all you can do is avoid them and ban them from cons, etc
"On his very first AB since acknowledging the existance of furries, Cutch hit a 2 run HR..." - is part of why Bailey is the best baseball analyst in the past 20 years
Honestly, as a furry watching this, I'm amazed about how much research you did for furries in this. I'd say the only diffurence is Midwest FurFest (MFF) has taken the reigns as the biggest furry con in the world in Chicago, but still. Also, yes... the fandom is full of wolves, foxes, and dragons. Also, a full fursuit can set you back around $3000. It's not exactly a cheap hobby XD
@@WillCrewMusic It was unintentional, hence when he "missed" them. The whole thing was a joke. Plus his games before he got home runs as well. The people in fur suits didn't change his talent or skill in the slightest.
Fun fact: On January 8, 2023, Andrew McCutchen replied with "Furries" to someone who tagged him in a Peter Schrager tweet about there being a furry convention going on in the LA Rams' team hotel in Seattle over the weekend.
To be fair I would too if that were my first expose to furries in person but then again I can see why, like try turning off and on of the context reading the word "Furries" with no context in mind, and you'll see why it sounds odd lol. Also I have nothing against furries I think they're cool but given by what it would be like in person with no acknowledgment, seeing a random talking dog in a parking lot at night would be very like the norror movies LOL.
Wait, as some who knows anything about baseball, do you know if there is any significance to the guy on the left at 4:30 posing with a white supremacist?
@@antifur1727 if this is unironic, i rlly appreciate the gimmick of making hating furries your whole thing in 2023. You just don't see that anymore because it's kinda mundane nerd shit now, like being into anime. As a furry, I say this sincerely: keep being you lmfao ✌☺
@@duckboi420 now now, just because your traditional counting stats and advanced sabermetrics haven’t been bolstered by the furries doesn’t you should make an enemy of the proud and honourable community.
I saw this and I am literally right in the middle of writing a children's book about a deer and her friends playing baseball. It has a buck named Showalter in it. This video is a sign I need to write it.
During Anthrocon 2023, Cutch did indeed tweet "Furries" in the morning of June 29th. He went 5-17 ( for a batting average of .294) over the 4-game stretch overlapping with the convention, including a 2 for 4 game that same day where he got a single, double, and run, and the next day, where he went 3 for 5 with a double, home run, and 3 RBIs. He unfortunately went 0-4 both the next day and the day after that, but during the convention, he slashed .294/.333/.588 for an OPS of .921. Despite two completely hitless games, he still played amazing during the convention. Unbelievable.
Cutch fursuit when??? The scary thing is, it's possible that it already exists and no one ever noticed or put the pieces together... On a more serious note, the fandom is a great place to be self expressive and not feel judged. If given the chance I might just have to bring my suit to the Padres/Pirates game. I'm a Padres fan but if Cutch hits well then I won't be too mad :)
Angel stadium allows no headgear :c Also in my experience on the west coast at least, other furries just tend to not care or call baseball boring sadly. I wear Angels gear to meets sometimes
@@tonyantonio2 I’m a pony and a Mariners fan for life! Our furcon here blows ass, so maybe T-Mobile Park could do us a solid and make it up a bit with an annual costume-friendly night. I can dream!
I just want to let you know that when i saw that mccutchen had resigned with the Pirates, I googled his name to see what the contract was going to be, and your video was the first thing recommended to me by google. Have been watching your stuff for a year or two now, and its cool to see that the google algorithm likes your stuff so much.
I find the funniest part that the show decided that they weren’t gonna just high generic voice actors. NO they needed 2013 NL MVP Andrew McCutchen, and 2018 AL MVP Mookie Betts to voice their characters in one episode.
Tbh an Anthrocon happening near your restaurant is probably good. You can make some big sales with all the furries going into your restaurant. Especially in Pittsburgh.
The commentary on the alone is amazing. The research on this is even better. The timing of this is amazing. And the conclusion was amazing. Best piece of investigative journalism I've seen.
Andrew McCutchen is my favorite player ever. I used to have season tickets for pirates games and was at the walkoff against the card! The curries were a bit for my family all those years. This ties in everything. Amazing video!
Bailey I thought that your A-Rod Girl Boss analysis would go down as the best piece of content you've produced. I have never been happier to be mistaken
I've only been to Anthrocon only one time in my life and every time they host it it comes with its own 'theme' and the year I attended was the year they decided to make it baseball themed. Watching this video was so surreal. I remember during the talent show, there where furries singing about baseball.
This is the finest content to ever grace RU-vid's servers. Masterful, sir. Also.... prop bets on Cutch during the convention this year. I'll make a killing!
"If he only played in the vicinity of large furry conventions, he would be widely considered as the greatest ball player that ever lived." Now there's a sentence I wasn't planning on hearing when I woke up this morning.
The 4th Tweet twas tweeted... Day 1: subject went 2/4 with 1 run scored Day 2: Subject goes 3/5 with 3 R.b.i's and a solo home run. Triple short of cycle 🐻🐺🐸 further results pending..
