I sucked with a chatterbait until I figured this out (I fish fairly clear water) when I threw it at night and finally caught a bunch of fish. Still works in clear water if deeper and around heavy-ish weeds (fish can't see it well IMO). Clear water around rock, full light: nope.
I really like the Mini Max Chatterbaits during the shad spawn but during the summer I don’t get many bites with it unless it’s a cloudy day. Will apply the tips here in the future, digging your channel!
Does any lure maker still make Buzzbaits- Lizards- Pork Rinds - Bullet weights with Glass Beads?-- Sluggos - Ringworm??- Bringing back some of these could be productive- because a lot of fish have grown up never having seen these lures and wouldn't shy away from them if they were feeding from an ambush point and these came into their feeding zone
I love chatter type baits, but, I wish they'd offer them with different size hooks available to chose from on those types of baits...I mean you don't need a 5/0 size hook on a 1/4oz jig...So, I believe a lot of anglers, myself included, miss and or lose some Bass when fishing with chatter baits due to the humongous hooks (4/0-5/0) they put on all chatter baits.. No matter the weight the hooks are all the same size, and most are way too big....The bigger Bass, 3lbs and up, are usually no problem to hook, but hits from smaller Bass can be harder to stick good with those mongo sized tow hooks.Just saying. Thx, Ranbo!
Fish get accustomed to chatterbaits just like every other bait. Fishing a chatterbait back 16+ years ago was completely different than fishing a chatterbait today. Fish couldn’t resist it originally.. it still catches fish, but not at the magnitude they did originally
Refer to Steve Roger’s recent video on the different chatter baits and their sound underwater with his microphone. If you don’t think these chatter baits put off much of a sound, that’s like saying spinerbaits are more for vibrations & don’t really have a flash to them 😂😂
