Before you think you can't settle for less keep in mind the other isn't settling for less either if that's the ego doctrine you worship. It's a zero sum game that gets you nowhere in marriage, and if by accident or misjudgement they settle for you, down the line they will walk out anyway because blackmail is an evil weapon they use to exploit you. This goes to both man and women. Especially the man. Why? A woman can never become pregnant without the member of the man being fully ready to release the seed of life. No erection, no release of sperm, no life!!! The man has to be 100% ready.

Christ came to bring division between believers and non-believers. Those who would follow Him vs those who wouldn't. His very existence causes division between the 2 groups. He didn't come to bring division amongst His people. We are to be in unity. A house divided against itself cannot stand.
As a Christian woman, I have a desire to date God's way. I desire a husband...a Godly husband...but there are some men (even some Christian men) who believe that, if they don't get sex, they walk away. Some men (in general) believe that if you aren't spending money on them, you're not worth it. Agreed, just ended a relationship because of this he wanted sex before marriage and said he dosen't see the problem. We were dating for marriage but i also didn't marry him because he didn't see that he is to be the head of the family and needed to be more spiritually mature. He also was not financially stable . He was a good man and treated me like a princess though but I could see there would be division in our family if we had kids.

Marriage is definitely a blessing but it all boils down to one word… COMPATIBILITY!!! The church has stigmatized that if both the man and women are saved then it will work… that is definitely a good start but we must look deeper..!! That’s why there’s more divorces in the church than the world because we only assessed the individual’s church mannerisms and not for what we want and need in a spouse outside the church! This is why you don’t rush into marriage. Date and get to know that person, their family and friends. If they’re worth marrying they will wait and have patience. Don’t ignore obvious signs! And don’t think you can change who a person is. This is a big one…..be willing to accept whoever you marry for who they are because that’s what you want them to do concerning you. Be real.

I was just commenting on another platform that too many churches idolize marriage. Don’t get me wrong. Godly and healthy marriages are a blessing. But, singleness is also a blessing when you live a life devoted to the Lord. There’s not enough teaching about how to navigate life as a single person (as noted in 1 Corinthians 7:8, 32-35) besides preparing to be a spouse and courting/godly dating. There are people (ahem) who are called to be single for a season or for a lifetime. They need to be ministered to as well.

The reason that marriage is an important thing to preach is because Lord knows we ALL like to have sex and lack self control at times. So the word says rather than burn with desire, get married. 1 Cor 7:9 In other words if you have a high sex drive, then you ought to be married so you won't sin in that area. I believe that covers 90% of us even though we too scared to admit it.
You are the norm and not the exception, which is another reason why it's difficult for successful sisters like yourself to be married. We have to pray for our men to step up to the plate. There is a great divide, imbalance and disparity between the two genders spiritually and financially at times. Sad to say but, unfortunately, every woman who desires to get married, won't. Some women don’t want to be in partnership with a good man, they want to be the head of the house. Men don’t want to live with a sharp tongue either. But some men just look at the outside of the package and don’t look on the inside at the goodness of a woman.

Very rare a woman wants to be head of household. If she is it’s probably by force because the man’s busy acting like a lady. If a woman wants to be head of household then she probably doesn’t want to be married at all. No one woman is looking for a man to have as an additional dependent.
I was beat down and abused before I ever left home. I never thought anyone would ever want to marry me. I wasn't brought up in a Christian home. I didn't know what was expected. I was desperate for love and attention so I took it from wherever I could get it. Never had a good man. Now that I am 65 years old I finally found him in Jesus Christ. I pretty much don't want a relationship anymore. That's just where I am. Sometimes Id like to be close to someone but for the most part no. It would take away from the time I spend serving God and getting closer to Him. I'm at peace
One answer to the question, from a Biblically perspective is: The Spirit (of God) says that in the latter times, some will depart from THE faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, forbidding to marry.(Read 1st Tim.4:1-3) And in the last days perilous (dangerous) times will come: For people will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, and a list of other characteristics. (Read 2nd Tim.3:1-5) But notice the 6th & 7th verse: For of this sort (lovers of themselves, lovers of money) are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts (by their own desires), always learning (doctrines of demons) and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth (concerning the doctrine of Christ). Which is evident throughout social media platforms.
Marriage is honorable, the men want sex even in God's house before they marry you. Several have many kids from days of there youth. We are willing to submit to a husband who is submitted to God. Other barriers include poor health, mental illness, insecure men. It will truly take miracles for God to orchestrate marriages.

Most men don't have children. It's harder for a single man with no children to find a single black woman with no children. Too many sisters carry before they marry. I ain't no step father.

There should be more education on marrying the right person that we are truly compatible with mind, body, spirit and soul. Actually spend time in prayer and fasting and let God reveal the person to you first instead of looking at someone first and getting caught up and then begging God to let them be it. The men commenting on this thread...smh. I have two Black daughters. One is married to a white, Christian man and the other is dating a white guy at her college. They are both modest, strong women. The one who is married with three children is SUPER strong willed with a type A personality. My second is sweet and sensitive with a lot of confidence. All of my children are confident leaders woth strong wills. My former husband and I co-parented after our divorce and I have not remarried despite four proposals. He is on his third wife and they are living separate lives because he doesn't want another divorce. After my oldest daughter got married, he called me and apologized for his part in causing our divorce and admitted that he has reaped how he treated me with both his other wives. I guess he was hoping that by apologizing, his current wife would start treating him better. I am now living in Spain and was pursued within my first month of living here. So to attack Black women as if other women don't have the same exact dispositions and behaviors, or as if no men want to be with Black women is shady and says more about the men making these claims. You probably don't even know that many women from other cultures. You're just regurgitating orher people's claims or images from TV...kind of like how all Black men are broke, angry, and violent gang-bangers, right?

I’m a black man who went to private schools, so I grew up around a ton of non-black women. I can say with 100 percent certainty they tend to be higher quality than black women. Statistics bear my experiences out because black woman are at the top of literally every negative metric. You literally couldn’t pay me enough to date or marry an American black woman.

They don't make Black women like that no more pastor. It's 2024. Modern black women weren't raised to be wives, and they do not desire marriage. However what does the woman bring to the table besides cooking and cleaning? Church girls who have no exposure to anything are boring, all they can talk about is church stuff. Most of their black men are not prepared to marry and handle husband/father responsibilities but go around making women pregnant, sometimes two, three, four women and they don't support them kids either. Result is lots of single mothers and most single men without kids of their own don't want to marry single mothers and take care of kids of other men. There you have it!

It would be great for future generations if young women in their twenties say no to men who don't at a minimum give them a house or a place to live before having sex and making babies. There are several reasons. 1) There are not as many single, godly men as there are women. 2) Many of us know our worth and are not willing to settle. 3) Some men can’t handle a strong black woman. 4) Some women can’t or won’t submit.
I'd advise you to remove the word "strong" when describing black women. From my experience, when a man says he wants a strong woman, it means that he wants a woman he doesn't have to treat delicately. Where I come from men need strong women to make them go through hardships, while they want femininity when they want to pamper a woman.

Most churches have more women, and receive most of their financial support from women. Thus, passes are very careful about telling women about themselves.
I am not sure if it is better, but it is a reality for a lot of people who want to be married. Most social places are full of women with a few men. The only place to see mostly men is at sports events, and now women are going to them more. I see the hand of G'd in the lives of women who live good lives alone, but many of them would rather settle for singleness than to end up with the wrong man.
Who raised these men? Try answering that. It should help. And if you connect the dots even further, explain why ya'll the most unmarried women compared to all other US women.

I have been married for 40+ years to the same man. Life is good. We recently became great-grandparents. I love my life. However, there is a certain type of Black woman who should NEVER exchange vows with ANY man. You all know the type I am referring to. With that, I'll end this comment with a little love. Most single black men and struggling financially and they can't afford to support a wife. However, the vast majority of brothers with a good career and study employment are married.
I think men don't want to marry these days because the field is toxic, it seems these days. A lot of women want a man who makes 100,000 and up amongst other things

This is my experience as a single black male. Women today don't think they have roles or duties in a relationship. They think that merely being a woman qualifies them for marriage.

Marriage is idolized and it does not guarantee a good, healthy and strong life. There is a dangerous and unhealthy belief that exists, that tells men and women once they get married, their lives will be fulfilled. It's best to be single, holy, filled with joy, and thriving in life, than to be married, lonely, depressed and suicidal. Oh yes, I said it! I have worked in patient care for two plus decades, and the amount of married men and women that I treat on a weekly basis who wish to God they would have never married is enormous. The infidelity (all types) and STDs amongst married couples are unbelievable. There is this belief that marriage provides safety and protection, but it does not if the husband or wife lacks Godly- integrity. Instead of encouraging people to get married, first teach them the importance of consistent integrity, loyalty, and self-discipline.
And too many of our women want the BAD BOYS. Our women are equally as guilty in ways that this pastor did not bring up. It was not our men who accepted the welfare deal back in the 60s. It was not our men who joined FEMINISM back in the 60s and 70s. Etc. etc. etc.

Yes! This Pastor, as usual, fails to mention the CAROUSEL 🎠 years between approximately 16 and 35+. The years when many of our women give their best years to the worst men. Then only when they cannot lock down the bad boys, entertainers, athletes, high profile businessmen, then they SETTLE for one of the good boys that they ignored during the carousel years. And they want the good boys to fix the MESS they made of their lives while chasing the BAD boys.

I usually agree with bishop. This is the one exception. He has the luxury of remembering & speaking from a time when marriage actually meant something and was regarded as something sacred, admirable, noble and not entered into lightly because people then had more respect for the things of God. Secondly, the woman is not the favor, marriage is. God blessed what he created & covenant was created for us to honor God through serving each other. When we enter covenant and do it God’s way, we please God thus allowing us to experience his favor. That verse is about obedience, not who’s more special.
Both parties are special. When God sends me a husband, it will be a gift. I've been single so long, I am so ready for a man to take the lead 😂. Also, there is something that God is calling me to. To me, it's a huge undertaking. I really believe that, not only will God give me favor that I won't have to undertake this solo, but God has probably already called him to it and I am actually called to be HIS helpmeet in this endeavor. That may be how I know him. In all ways, I would hope that he would consider me a gift, and that I would add to his life substantially. As a friend, a lover, a fellow worker and warrior, a prayer warrior, someone who increases his peace, his comfort, etc. Everything God grows me to be for him, so he can be who God is calling him to be. When the two right people are together in God, they add to more than the sum of their parts. The increase is exponential. It's God-math. There are people who still take marriage seriously. I agree with what you said about the covenant ordained by God. You cannot uncut a covenant. The struggle is the right two people bumping into each other before being bruised by everyone around them.
I think the institution of marriage is sacred, it's protective. It's honorable. But it's theoretical. Your wife. My husband. That's a specific gift. It's like the difference between loving the whole world and loving Ethel or Albert. Family is a gift, but you wouldn't die for 'family', but you'd probably give your life for YOUR family. Your little man Rob or your baby girl, Tanisha. Similarly, It was a revelation when I realized that, not only did God love the world enough to give his only son and Jesus loved the whole world enough to die for it - they loved ME enough that if I was the only person that needed to be saved, Jesus would have died "Just For Me" (in Donnie McClurkin's words). The next revelation was - not only did God love me, he actually likes me. Marriage is the same, I think. It's the personal nature that makes it uniquely individual and special. It's the difference between "I love getting gifts" and "I really love THIS gift. It's perfect for me".

The real question is being left out is “where are the TYPE of sensational men that modern black feminist women WANT.“ The BAD boys, athletes, entertainers, high profile businessmen, thuggish types that so many of our church women “secretly“ open their legs for. Lots of sneaky red pilled truths that are deliberately left out of pulpit sermons, textbooks, college lectures, psychological manuals; but everybody with any amount of common sense, street smarts, and red pilled knowledge know the “secret world of activities that’s causing so many black women to remain single and raising single parent families. As a community educator, writer, etc., I’m out there dealing with this every day in the schools, churches, community centers, the streets, etc.
I don't want a woman who's been around the block numerous times so now she tries to judge my performance on what john did in the bedroom or how larry did it this way...............No man wants to be compared to some other man's performance in the bedroom.
How many are divorced? Have kids already? Obese? Want to be married? All of that factors in to one community increasing and maintaining marriage numbers
Being large and obese is NOT synonymous, obesity comes to those who elect to live life as a couch potato. Baggage becomes a problem when the teens say "You're not my father, you can't tell me what to do." Most times the mothers take the side of their children. Me, I refuse to take part in that, disrespectful children in my house then some out of control step daughter comes home telling us that she's pregnant and doesn't know who the father is. Not for me.

As a single woman, I would say that the men who approach me are looking for a meal ticket, so I stay single. I want to be a partner, not a provider. So, blaming black women for being single is not telling the entire story because both women and men have issues to work on.

The wife he decided to choose should miraculously become a wife even if she doesnt know a thing about being one? Thats a real thing. Just like theres men who dont know what being a husband is. God gave a great responsibility and choice to men. If 10 women chase him down the street so be it. He still has a right, choice even a responsibility to say no and go about the choosing process. I don't even know what men are on & why they choose who they choose. For black men I really don't get it. When men choose they are literally saying I come to take care of you & yours and in that they're supposed to be paying attention to who they're going to be doing that for and what they are expecting from her. I love God first and my peace second. Most men are angry and bitter from their childhood and failed relationships. They are jealous of beautiful successful women and narcissist at their core. Not all men are this way, but a great majority are. Marriage does not heal a man from these internal things, it actually gets worse. Specific married/ single men are jealous and competitive with beautiful and successful women. Men like this only use their family as a cover and something to flaunt in as the opportunity presents to make the image they want to promote look good. I never knew this was a thing until I experienced it, especially in the workplace. Marriage with the right person is a beautiful thing I’m sure. I am in no rush. I have all that I need right now until God is ready to add more to me. He is smarter than I am.
Please don't make blanket statements like that, I'm a black man and in no way jealous nor envious of a Black women who has a very successful career. I'm secure in who I am as a man. I've always been independent, my own career, home, money, and investments and I have no baggage. I've never received money from a woman nor asked her for the same.

The FBA family by and large has collapsed, especially in the cities. Not necessarily because of the men or the women. It is a direct result of sustained attacks, specifically targeting it over the course of at least 3 generations. We have been at war since we arrived in this land. For some, since the Euros arrived. Yes, marriage is a good thing , made by a PERFECT God who ONLY makes good things. And yes, it is beautiful when done under the terms that God put into place when He made marriage. But to say that black women have stood by black men, have been bearing black men, have been HEALTH to black American men? What SINGLE man finds that to be the case, except for the occasional exception that some women in the comment section are going to bring up? In what part of the United States is that true for a MASS (more than 50 %) of the black population? God fearing, Bible believing, Holy Spirit-filled black men KEPT telling exactly what needed to be addressed for marriage to keep thriving, and they kept getting shut down--so they stopped talking. And now, stubborn pastors and women are still pretending like they have NO CLUE why marriages are not happening like they used to. They keep pointing to UN-godly men in efforts to justify how difficult they have been to GODLY men.... VERY disappointing.
my grandmother told me a long time ago everybody is not going to be married and that is okay. Don't get married just because you see everybody else getting married. When you get saved what you thought you wanted you no longer want. If you live your life for him he will be the one to find you a mate that's worthy of you. God is a jealous God. He wants to keep the best for himself. Be happy where you are in life.

We understand though, because his congregation is predominantly Black women in there, so he has to pander to them by spewing that same old tired, untrue trope that has been disproven multiple times. Black women never " Carried" the majority of Black men. Majority of Black men are in the Middle Class believe it or not.

Sounds like the Bishop hasn’t had too much experience running into the attitudes that usually come with sisters which has a lot to do withbeing unmarriageable. When I talk to them, they tell me horror stories from their past marriages to black men so they look the white men but they don’t have anything to offer or the other ones They always previous marriage will always come first. Because black men only have 25% marriage rate and all other groups of men have 50% marriage rate. And black women are the most race loyal. But black women are changing and divesting so it will go up

There are over 2 million more adult black women than adult black men, yet there are over 400,000 more married black men than married black women. 85% of married black men are married to black women. 90% of married black women are married to black men. Black women are "race loyal" because they don't have any other options. Black men, especially those with bachelor's degrees or higher, have more options; 30% of black men with bachelor's or high marry out.

If you're going to promote marriage you need to promote them doing it the right way and not the wrong way and people with kids need to deal with people with kids and men aren't respected or valued in marriage which is why they don't want to get married nowadays...if you're not going to value or treat your man well you don't deserve marriage especially not with a good man
