The US cut out 20% of the world's oil and 25% of the world's natural gas when drilling was banned and contracts canceled in many areas. So what do you expect? Heating costs will skyrocket as it gets colder and the lack of natural gas is felt. California is using natural gas to generate electricity because the hydropower is failing due to the drought. So, most of the rising costs are due to mismanagement on a federal level that is affecting the entire world.
All companies are price gouging. In every industry. They’re recouping losses and taking advantage of the trends. Then they blame supply chain or dead employees. All while ignoring basic economics.
No, the US ended most of it's oil and gas production. There is much less oil available with the entire world wanting it. It could easily hit 156 dollars a barrel.
