2 of my fav idle animations: -When Sonic kills himself in Sonic CD -When Donkey Kong plays New Leaf in Tropical Freeze, which you brought up towards the end Great video!
Finishing up Lego City Undercover and there are 305 lego people you can use as you collect them. And many have their very own idle animations. It's wild how much detail and love got put into this game. I didn't really notice until I used the punk rocker and he started playing a guitar shortly after I finished a challenge. But then I started cycling through to get a feel for each of them and so many of them are unique. The npcs also make comments based upon which disguise you are in. It's really fun.
I finished watching this expecting to see a 200k subcriber channel and was surprised! This was a really good video! Rayman idle animations was always a favourite of mine when I was a kid.
Cool to know that the first idle animation in video games was in 1978. The first one I was familiar with was Sonic the Hedgehog since I was born in 1988 and Sonic the Hedgehog was one of the first games I played
Fighting games lack idle animations because the characters are so energized that they can't sit still. Slower-paced games have them because the player can take their time, whilst fighting games tend to be more hectic by comparison.
