Wow Chris - a left leaning person! a face to face interview with them too! I'm genuinely shocked. More of this please. Your channel is way too right wing at times.
52:09 Everything Destiny said throughout this segment is 100% right on. I disagree with him on a lot of things, and he's more left-wing than I am, but dang it if he doesn't get this part exactly right. I wish more men on the right would understand this, instead of trying to take us back to 1950 or 1850. Women want real companionship, not just a paycheck. We're not going back to that. Some women might embrace "trad" but it's not the same thing as it was before, and on a society-wide level, we aren't going bsck. Move on. Evolve.
I get the feeling that his name is as much as an attention gimmick as the blue hair he's had apparently recently. I've only listened to maybe two other convos with destiny and I ended up losing interest and stopping pretty early. He's got a vibe that generally turns me off.. probably bc i can't relate to liking either of our parties at this point. Just shows truly what a great interviewer Chris is bc I actually got sucked into the convo and gained some respect for destiny despite some strong disagreements.
@@fbinformant I'm in the same boat. There are a lot of things I disagree with him about, but the fact I was able to see a rational and calm discussion about subjects that I hold very strong opinions on was very refreshing. He made a lot of good points though I cannot say whether or not this is representative of his, for lack of a better term, catalog. I have heard of him before, but this is my first real exposure to him. One of his key points that I enjoyed was his line. About how so many? People. On either? Side are. So hell bent on tearing down current structures and institutions but have no idea what to replace them with. We cannot return to past status, and we cannot resume old morés... Certainly not if we wish to retain at least some semblance of liberty and freedom. I have found that there is a certain amount of hypocrisy to be found in both the left and right spectrums of american politics and culture. I can boil them both down in a extremely reductive way to say "We want the freedom for us to oppress you." Aside from gun rights on the right and abortion access on the left, I really can't see any unifying politics on either side. I suppose this is to be expected when you have an electorate of nearly three hundred million people. It hardly matters which political party is in power and either congress or 1600 Penn Ave, As I have seen since President Bush how the powers of the Office of the President have expanded and the actual rights of the average Citizen have been eroded and degraded, it really doesn't matter who is in office. Trying to unravel or foreign entanglements alone is a Sisyphean task because of over a century of overlapping treaties. This doesn't even hold a candle to the absolute blanket of alphabet agencies that have sprung up in the intervening time frame. At this point I almost wish the Goths would invade. Do you wanna know why the western empire was so hard to re establish? The local landowners were charging rents that were so much higher than what the gothic taxes were that simply put, the peasants preferred living under the Goths. On average, I have seen 1 trillion more debt each year and no one has any idea how to stop it. Rather than cut costs, they demand more taxes... At this point the United States deserves to burn for allowing this to happen.
@@fbinformant His name is back from when he was a starcraft pro. And his blue hair was a charity goal so he is just fulfilling a promise he made a long time ago.
Despite the fact that Destiny's views are very far away from mine, I actually really enjoy listening to him talk. Unlike certain internet figures of the American Left like Vaush or Hasan, he seems to be an actually genuine person, who truly wants to engage with people's points. Which nowadays already makes him better than most. His idea of men having to "become more feminine" if they want to be more successful in the modern dating world was pretty interesting. I hadn't thought of that, but it does make some sense when you take into account the fact that things have drastically changed and that they are not going back to how they were. He's very left-wing (I don't really get how there are people on the Left who think that he's not, you'd have to be a Stalinist to think that a guy like Destiny isn't "left-wing enough"), but in a sobering way that makes me believe that he can talk to anyone and make something useful out of the conversation. Thanks for the video, Chris.

Including him not taking accountability for saying Tate wonder be free on house arrest because he’s a flight risk but now that there’s still no evidence or charges and he’s on house arrest he’s claiming he’s always said to wait and see what happens he’s a slimey rat
I remember seeing Milo back in that 2016ish hayday where he was everywhere. For anyone who didn't see it, the best way I can possibly describe it is that it was like watching someone who was very versed in internet trollling doing a weirdly accurate, but conservative, pre-sobriety Russell Brand impression.
I dont think they given enough credit to Milo with how on point he was during the gamer gate / anti feminist era. I have yet to see a critique of Milo that draws the distinction with his current public image and how he was back then.
The whole idea of white liberal hate for themselves as a requirement for being a progressive, especially as a man, is the factor that pushed me away from left wing politics, I was already on the way out but it's so easy to sink into depression if everyone on your side hates you as a starting point because of your ethnic background. It's also starting to resemble some of the racial ideologies of the 20th century, which I want no part in.
I'm more on the left than Destiny but GOD is the state of the modern left frustrating. I want the kind "let's use technology to make people's lives easier and nature less wrecked" people back. The more science and philosophy oriented who can be actually critical towards their own in a philosophical way instead of this dumbass "you broke the woke code you BIGOT!" -shit. The woke stuff has many seeds of truth but goddamn is there a lot of shit on top of it too.
Same for me, namely the whole white guilt thing. The specific 'straw that broke the camel's back' for me though was complete strangers calling me an oppressor or coloniser and I'm like "I'm Scottish, who the fuck did I oppress or colonise?" 🤣 I find it impossible to have a genuine civil conversation with anyone who interacts this way.
@@MGShadow1989 because you can’t. Their tactic is specifically designed to divide and to destroy relationships. It’s evil. And you can tell because there’s nothing you can do to appease them to become ‘ok’. That’s the mark of a destructive tactic not a genuine desire to atone for the past
@@asparagusrealizer11 that’s what I tried to do, but it became clear class leftism isn’t viable. It’s moved on to mean racism against you based on your immutable characteristics you can’t change. And I preferred to live rather than die so I left the left. And had to rethink everything from first principles. For me, Catholicism became the alternative solution, an order based on the Church again modified to adapt to the changed conditions.
Wow, a lot of the comments here are really negative. Thanks guys for getting together and having a good faith and healthy conversation. I remember 15 years ago being able to sit down with friends with different opinions and being able to talk like this. I'd definitely listen to Destiny again if he came on.
Fortunately. There are more positive comments. Personally, if I can't bear listening to someone because they have been spouting word salad and nothing of real substance, I'll just go to the comment section to see if the commenters have anything more interesting to say. If no, I'll just move on to another podcast that talk about real substance more. I tried listening to Destiny speak here, but too bad that all he has been saying for almost 20mins are just word salad and common sense stuffs. Perhaps Chris should try to play more devil's advocate to make him speak his mind more, also Christ should focus more on the idea than the people
@@shikyokira3065 what word salad are you talking about specifically? There's a difference between word salad and schizo-posting/going off on niche internet culture tangents. Word salad is what Jordan Peterson does, when he strings together dozens of long words, many of which are outside the vocabulary of the average person. Destiny was just speaking about internet culture in plain English, but was talking about obscure topics without giving proper context.
@@corruptpolitician3321 Destiny was using vague languages to the things he was talking about. For example, Milo. He talked about him being good in environment where trolling this and that. But without going into the details what makes him good in that environment, what ideas he had that made him popular. Destiny then went on about environment changes this and that. All these are stuffs without depth. We all know Milo did something, we know environment changes. If you have a half a brain and has been following the news for more than 2-5 years at least, you should know about most of these events. The problem with Destiny and what made it word salad is he wasn't focusing on the main substance (the ideas, the principles, and the values), instead he was dancing around this event and that event. Yeah, it might sound smart to only talk about factual events since they are hard to deny, but it only make you look shallow, weak and not interesting because you aren't putting your ideas out to be tested and pondered by like minded individuals. You could say its Chris' fault for not steering the conversation into the "right" direction since he is the interviewer here. And I would agree with you As for the Jordan Peterson thing, I know this is a bait so I will ignore it. Since he has nothing to do with what we are talking about, other than something you *feel* like he did
@@shikyokira3065 It sounds like we just have different definitions of word salad. Mine could be incorrect. My understanding of 'word salad' was that it was mainly referring to hyperfixation on minor semantics and the use of overly verbose and confusing/hard-to-follow language. An example would be if you look up 'Jordan Peterson word salad' by Karl emmrich. Outlining events and trends is still making an argument or at least describing a pattern that leads to his conclusions. Destiny didn't use any crazy words or really even say anything confusing... You're right that he didn't argue or back what he was saying very well but that doesn't make it word salad. It just makes it vague and weakly argued.

As someone who leans right, I believe we need more people like Destiny on all sides, or rather we should support people like him. I like Ben Shapiro for similar reasons. They both have strong beliefs in their respective ideological and political fields and they express them. But they also go to great lengths to be ideologically consistent in many cases and despite aggressively debating, they always genuinely engage the other person with interest and curiosity. I think these guys have the potential to be great unifiers. On the other hand people like Hasan, TYT, Crowder, Charlie Kirk and those corners seem to instigate division. Listening to Destiny has showed me that I don't care that much about what someone else believes. I do care about how they express it and who they are willing to engage with. Unification doesn't mean that we need to all hold hands and jump into the rainbow. It just means we can like and respect someone who sees the world in a completely different light. And that is necessary, since we all have different experiences in life that will determine how me view the world.
Destiny got shit on from the left and right his whole career. He never did content and talks for just cloud or the money since he basically made Hasan and then he disagreed with him ideologically and now both are disliking each other since then.
Making adjustments to systems to expand opportunities must be compatible with individual responsibility. We need both left and right. We just need to be honest when we try stuff and stop doing what doesn't work or causes more problems than it solves.
The problem is that once the left starts a policy to help people and it doesn’t work they never reverse it right away. It may be too difficult politically or they are simply opposed to changing the policy back. So you end up doing lots of damage before it eventually reverses (if ever).
Both sides have their positives and negatives, and we need to try to get the positives of both while addressing and dealing with the negatives of both. This sounds like a really obvious thing, but it doesn't seem like it's a thing in the public consciousness.
Yep. Absolutely love this stuff. I used to hate Destiny, but he's mellowed out and is more willing to listen to wtf people are saying, and the results are so much better this way.

It is very different from my own and when I say I liked him it doesn't mean that I would copy him or adopt his combative nature. Just answering to the title alone: My gf is Liberal and “depressed” and on medication for it. I asked why she believes/feels she is and I was answered with “I’m just not happy all the time and I don’t know why, even on this medication I’m still not happy.” And that sparked a realization that some people believe they’re supposed to be happy every day or without negative thoughts throughout life. So I told her that I’m not happy every day and she asked why I’m not on meds, and it’s simple majority of the time my mood is neutral, some occasions I’m happy like a holidays, parties or gatherings. To shorten this comment, I think my and new generations think they’re supposed to be happy, not suffer, not to experience hardships or friction and they don’t know how to deal with it so they expect meds to fix it and when it doesn’t they feel worse.
breath of fresh air in the world of everyone has a podcast. set is dope framing and shot is dope, the back and forth angles on the speaker. great lighting.
stoicism in the classical sense isn't the lack of emotion. It is about necessary and sufficient emotion not the over dramatization on any and all things. In common speak we would call it situational detachment. In the age of enlightenment it is about avoiding irrationalism.
I've been studying stoicism for almost 10 years and it really is the most misrepresented philosophy to ever exist, maybe aside from Nietzsche and nihilism
This I disagree with his statement about traditionalism. I think a lot of that will bring us back to a sense of reality and people's self worth period. Abortion May not be going anywhere but I hope to God. It will be restricted far more than it is now.The number of babies that are murdered in North America is sickening and we worry about the number of people that get killed in wars when we oluntarily kill our own children. Medical assistance in dying. needs to be outlawed as well and we need to get back to respect for life. Governments need to stop feeding their citizens hard drugs and let that money be spent on rehabilitation.
it's so refreshing and restores a bit of hope for me. I don't want to be totally disenfranchised with progressive thought (as I have been for a few(several??) years now), Destiny helps me out of that and stops me from being intellectually lazy. You're right he's a great listener and communicator.
The part about the difference between being poor and being rich….I’m not what I consider to be “rich” but I’m better off than I’ve ever been, and I can relate to the panic of the snowballing of difficulty when one simple thing goes wrong. I experienced it so many times. Our problem as a society is mainly class related, but the self flagellating whyte rich “progressive” obsession is with race. It’s a cover for their guilt of being wealthy, they hate no only themselves, but the poor whytes who they’re terrified that they’ll become, if their financial situation changes dramatically.
"Our problem as a society is mainly class related" No it it not. Not even close. "Class" is just another bigoted leftist ideal. Used to create more division and hatred within society. Our main problem as a society, is mainly state based. The state has FAR to much power and control over society. This is what makes it hard for the "poor" to build their way up the social and economic hierarchy.
It's really great seeing Destiny flourish and coming to other podcasts or channels and sharing what she's about. Thanks Chris Williamson for having our favorite woman on your show 8)
She really has so much potential outside of the stripping drama of clout goblins. I hope she will engage with this "centrist anti woke" bubble a lot more as it has so much more constructive potential for actual insights than redpill dummies, christian conservatives or the screeching end of the left. I really feel like the Heidt, old Peterson etc. style of pattern interacting with reasonable lefties is peak compromise of philosophy, clout and entertainment. Here can actually exist healing conversations for society. Would love to see Destiny with Chris and some of his more typical guest.
What an odd view of the trad position. To think that women, even "trad" women in previous generations had a defined role in where they never work out of the home, never had input into their marriage, never was an equal partner in their families.
Never had input? Never were equal? Nah that would imply they were not cherished above all to the married men of those long ago times. Maybe I misinterpret what your meaning is?
Yea the first things he mentions are abortion and birth control aren't going away. Now I don't keep up a lot with the "trad" movement too much so I could be ridiculously wrong but all I've seen is harkening back to a more traditional relationship structure

1:11:20 That sounds reminiscent of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. Marsha Linehan, the creator of DBT, defines 'dialectical' as a "synthesis or integration of opposites." The fundamental idea of DBT is that opposite truths can coexist and be harmonized. (Ie: I'm doing the best I can AND I want to be better). It aims to achieve a balance between empathy and acceptance while staying focused on changing problem behaviors.

On the talk about people caring more about words than actions, it made me think of the hogwarts legacy drama, like these people were everywhere saying that there is a trans genocide, and that by buying the game you were somehow causing it, so rather than do anything to actually help trans people, they just complained about the issue online. I've been seeing this more and more, people saying that they care about an issue, but they don't do anything past just saying they care, it's the liberal version of "thoughts and prayers".

destiny is spot on @21:06 - where he knows he talks about systems, and yet acts as an individual. he genuinely carries the synthesis within himself, and this is why he's interesting. he realizes that constantly blaming the system removes one's personal agency - and this sentiment is what ive heard among the anomalies (e.g. conservative minorities had said, 'i wont accept a victim mindset'). and this is the law of the wild, as old and as true as the sky. and the wolf who keeps it will prosper, but the wolf who breaks it will die! An example in this conversation is noting that women are becoming more masculine, so the proper thing is for men to become more feminine. The first part is determinable (though I disagree with the phrasing), but the second is a drastic leap of logic. It's kind of like saying oranges are round so that means apples should be more like bananas. It's something that sounds like it should make sense, but is actually baseless social constructivist gobbledygook.

1:32:20 Moore's original law, transistors doubling every 1.5 years, broke a while ago. That happened when we had to swap to multi-core processors. Then it started being more 2 years, and total possible output instead of transistor count (fun fact, just like you can't use more than 10-20% of your brain at a time, you can't use all of a processor at a time, because it'll overheat immediately and die. It's called "Dark Silicon"). It's also starting to look like we're hitting the physical limits for real now. The smallest chips we have on market right now are 3 nm, but here's the fun fact: A silisium atom has the size of 0.2nm, meaning that if you have 2nm, you have 10 atoms. You have no idea how utterly insane this is, and I would not be surprised if we're hitting a point, or if we already hit it, where the failure rate in production is higher than the performance gain. Also, when the number of atoms shrink to this point, there's the problem of quantum mechanics coming into play. Tunnelling and other problems. Personally, I think 5 nm will be the standard for high performance (computers and smartphones), and 14 nm for cheaper circuitry. TL;DR: Moore's law is basically dying right now, we're seeing the plateau appearing. Transistor count is reaching its peak and it's probable that we won't produce much more powerful PC's than we have today, they'll just be a bit cheaper.

It's strange but I find that I like Destiny way more depending on who he is talking to. When the atmosphere is neutral or friendly I actually tend to like his commentary. But whenever he talks to anyone from Twitch or he's ranting at the camera reacting to some RU-vid video I can't stand him lol. He's usually saying much the same thing but it's crazy how much of a difference tone makes with this guy.
Calling it now: When in the fullness of time it becomes abundantly clear that the Nick & Ye collab never actually ended, Destiny will not acknowledge how utterly wrong he was.
@@The1Liner A) Because I believe Nick, and B) for the past 6 years every single time a naysayer has made a pessimistic prediction or proclamation about Nick, he/she has been proven wrong.
@@BezoRazo yet... Ye is still just a crazy dude and he is being used for attention because he is famous and made himself a spectacle. Also it's hilarious to act like Nick has really accomplished anything to show he outperformed the doubters or whatever. He just stuck around spewing the same old bullshit and there's a bunch of fools out there that keep listening.
Remember guys, Destiny literally has said on record ‘Jordan Peterson only makes descriptive claims. He never makes normative claims’ In other words, Destiny thinks Jordan Peterson merely describes things and doesn’t offer any solutions or morals (shoulds and shouldn’ts) Let that sink in. So take his opinion with a massive grain of salt
Destiny can't interact maturely with someone he's denoted an enemy, though he's definitely not as bad as he was with this when Jordan Peterson became popular, it's still there.
@@stevenm732 he gives answers on things he has answers too, mostly practical advice on how individuals can improve their life and mental health. He gives less solutions to the complex social and political problems, which i don't see a problem with. They are hard problems and there are no clear solutions, I'd prefer he stay honest than delude himself into thinking he has all the answers
funny because destiny said if you are a guy above 20 and you have trouble talking to girls. You are screwed because you didn’t start talking to girls in high school. He says a bunch of stupid stuff like this.
@@Deridus they aren’t rumors he’s open about his relationship. Everyone does degenerate shit they just don’t want to admit it or be honest about it. It’s almost like most peoples definition of degenerate is silly.
I just watched that debate and Milo is absolutely mimicing the oratory style of Christopher Hitchens. He was speaking nonsense, but it was almost persuasive in how he delivered it. I really don't know how anyone can take that guy serious at this point.
I'd argue part of the fragility to stress is from increased competition and more options with higher standards. You have a larger range of options and it's harder to compete to a cozy state
@Dio Brando @Dio Brando sorry if I wasn't clear, im arguing that the decreased tolerance to stress or "fragility" towards stress is more than: Weakness of the youth Internet Addiction Different Ideology that brings in facility to stress Ect All of those things I do consider factors, but I feel some factors ignored, especially in this talk, are the higher living standards and increased competition from stronger liberalism, progressivism, and technology. People today, especially the young, have a high investment to compete for what is higher than traditionally socially excepted standard of living. They have to compete in markets boosted with greater and cheaper freedom of movement, wider spread and more instant communications, and more globally centralized corporate/economic/cultural/educational institutions. All of this culminates in an increased choice paralyzation and a greater stress to maintain the successes of the path they are already on. I'm arguing that the stress fragility is influenced and likely highly influenced by changes in the western world over the past generations. Yes the youth need to figure out ideologies and lifestyles that will help navigate the stress, but I feel it's a case of having to carry the cross. Its an ill you need to get better at but it's likely not going to go away cause you got better at it
@Dio Brando I mean sure, but it shows a bit of a lack of empathy or understanding when specifically talking about the problems of today and the kids these days. I'm not really dogging here though, just adding to the convo
Depression is the brains way of letting you know that something is wrong. You're fucking up in some way. Either you're consuming something that you're body doesn't like, there's unresolved trauma in your life, you aren't working towards meaning or purpose in life, or you're going against the laws of human nature. Liberals exhibit all of these traits for the most part. Conservatives are generally more ambitious, more concerned with the needs of others outside of themselves, care less about everything being 'equal', which is not only unrealistic, but cuts off competition, which is a basic human need (nature). I was diagnosed with multiple mental illnesses, but today, after years of therapy, willingness, work, admission of mistakes when i make them, apologizing to people when I'm wrong, standing up for myself when somebody violates my boundaries and learning how to do so without being a dick about it (most of the time), getting into good shape, learning how to talk to people to the point where I've mastered it, and finally acknowledging my own worth, I'm doing really well. You can argue that there are brain chemical imbalances, but before you do, quit consuming hard drugs (alcohol and tobacco count) and sugar to the best of your ability, start drinking at least the mandatory amount of water that your body needs per day, take multi-vitamins, fish oil, vitamin d, etc, and I would also recommend lion's mane as well (from personal experience though not required), start exercising, take care of basic hygiene, stop blaming everybody else for all of your problems and find some things to admit that are your fault, start writing gratitude lists (I just do it in my head now and can list 150 things I'm grateful for easy), find people who will hold you accountable for your actions, learn to set proper boundaries, start admitting when you make mistakes and be honest with yourself, get a job if you don't have one, or at least do something creative that gives your life meaning if you're disabled or retired, and then see if you're still depressed. If you're bed-ridden, try to just get out of bed, do 1 thing + shower/brush teeth and make it a goal to up it to 2 things within a week, then 3, up to like 6 things. Also, try to get out of bed for at least a couple hours, even if you hate it. I've been depressed to the point of being suicidal and having previous suicide attempts, but I've never stayed in bed for more than a day straight unless I was knocked out via sedation or something. Hope this helps. Also three more things I wanted to add are that one: I learned that it's okay to make mistakes, people aren't perfect (and neither am I), and whenever I'm pointing a finger at somebody else to point three right back at myself. Second, that Rome wasn't built in a day, and I still have work to do. It's a process, and it takes decades to fully master. When you start implementing changes, you're making progress, even if you don't realize it. When you start feeling some peace in your life, and can be okay with things that used to totally stress you out, you'll start to notice the progress. Third, don't try to be happy all the time. Also, don't blame all of your unhappiness on mental illness. Just admit that sometimes you're going to have good days and sometimes you'll have bad days. Have a nice day everyone!
@@wyleecoyotee4252 These are literally the same people who hang out on Kiwi Farms. Lol. And watch Rollo make two hour videos gossiping about Jordan Peterson's daughter.
