Great troubleshooting tips! On my last desktop, the entire USB system died on the motherboard and had to go to a PCI USB card to plug my mouse, keyboard, etc... into. That worked for a while but then one day the EVGA board totally died. Rebuilt the entire system with a new MSI motherboard and all is good now.
I have a six bay "rack" in my 5" bay on my computer. It takes 6 SSD drives. Last couple of days, the computer has been hesitant to boot with drives in this rack. I have to remove them and boot up then switch off and re boot to access the drives. I have not changed anything sinc setting up this new home buit machine three weeks ago. Any ideas Brian. I am booting off an M2 drive , I have a secon M2 and a 4TB Iron Wolf HD. I use lots of storage as I do video editing and photo work.
my toshiba laptop has his usb port that blue one damaged, and the other two ports cannot reconize any usb card not even an external usb wireless antenna, what should i do?
One problem I'd have was those little 3 or 4 port hubs you couls use as extensions for a single USB port. They'd be plug and play and would work, but, the driver that Windows would load would always go wrong. It wouldn't matter which port you tried or which driver, it would always show an error in device manager. The hubs never had their own drivers. I don't know if this was ever fixed in later builds of Windows, but, I never bothered trying.
Help, I plug in my wired USB mouse and all of the sudden it makes the disconnected noise (When you unplug it) and then my mouse stops working when its plugged in, then on the right it says the device isn't recognized. But when It starts working again... it is recognized and then it repeats the process. Any ideas how to fix this?
At about 1.50 remaining, you talk about resetting your PC, which will cause you to lose all your apps etc. Before you do that, why not try an 'In-place Upgrade Repair Install', which should keep all your apps and settings?
great video Brian. I have a code 38 error on my front usb ports when i put a usb stick in for a second time in any usb port on my windows 10 pc.Maybe a followup video about this bug??????Please????
I basically only have 2 out of 7 ports working on my motherboard. the front usb ports work fine but have a lot of wobble which causes a bunch of random disconnects
i have 3 ports one worked, until i uninstalled all of them then i restarted my laptop now my last port doesn't work anymore... can someone please explain to me how to install it back or something, it shows that they are up to date but i clearly unistalled so i don't understand all of this
I don't have as many USBs on my system so i use 2x Anker USB Hubs plugged into their own USB. Every so often my keyboard and mouse just randomly disconnect and they are both RGB so their lights just flicker (turn on for 1 sec and turn off). I bought new Keyboard and mouse because i thought they was faulty. I went from Razer to SteelSeries and having same problem. So i don't know what it is. But i have unplugged 1 anker USB hub to try that 😭. I've had this issue now for 2 years. Occasionally i'd get a notification to say USB devices have malfunctioned and won't reconnect when i plug them in, so i have to force restart my PC.
So my ports work when no HDMI is in. When an HDMI is inserted, my mouse, keyboard, and other other ports aren’t getting enough power is my situation. Can’t find one on how to fix
Problem, Windows attachable keyboard & USB wireless mouse stopped working simultaneously Device Manager shows USB xHCI Compliant Host Controller has yellow ! Device cannot start code 10 Actions Taken Windows 11 fully updated Driver removed through device manager no change Driver updated through device manager no change Checked BIOS Surface Pro 6 reset to factory settings twice, once keeping files, last full reset Tried Snappy Driver Updater Looked at Power Settings but Windows 11 makes this difficult Restarted obviously numerous times In Device Manager when I select the USB Controller and open there is no power tab In Device Manager there is only 1 item listed under Universal Serial BUS Coontroller I have tried just about every fix I can find with no changes, I hesitate with the hardware options as both the USB port on the side of my Surface Pro 6 stopped and at the same time the magnetic connector at the bottom for the keyboard also stopped, hard to believe that the 2 locations are connected physically in any way, I tried driver updates manually but keep getting message that I have the correct driver, Uninstalled my Avast Virus software, no change, switched to AVG no change, I have contacted Microsoft Surface Support and they worked for awhile with me and now are no longer responding, Open to any suggestions
Hello, I have just built a PC. All parts are brand new and the SSD HDD are blank. PC starts and all lights come on but, the monitor, mouse and keyboard aren’t coming on. So I can’t get into Bios to install Windows using the Microsoft USB. Has anyone got an idea?
I’m confused because where I had my ports plugged in before they worked but all of a sudden they stopped working overnight. I woke up to my mouse and headset were off but the usb was plugged in. But when I connect them to a different port they work it’s as if I’ve lost power to my top ports. Also my adapter stopped working as well. I’m confused right now and really don’t want to buy another build, please help. Btw I’ve already tried everything from other videos all the restarting, disabling, and power managements and nothing has worked
Exact same issue with me. My keyboard and mouse were working in my top 2 ports but the next day they weren’t being picked up. The usb ports aren’t broken as when I plug them in my key board and mouse still light up. It’s just that windows isn’t picking them up. Have you found any fix yet?
@@gurpartaprayat7120 I ended up taking it to a technician and I had already nailed down to what it was and I figured maybe my motherboard got fried overnight or something. And I was right they said that a power surge occurred and it fried my motherboard’s usb ports and was spreading throughout my pc had I kept using it but I’ve had it off for 2 weeks. I ended up just buying a new motherboard and having them deal with it rather than myself because pc’s are delicate things. If you need to get back to using the pc I’d suggest taking the route I took but if your patient maybe look into buying a new motherboard and trying to put it in yourself but know there are risks.
Neither my HDMI (monitor) nor my USBs are working. They stopped a month ago, but started working again this week, but stopped again. Windows 10-Desktop, any ideas.
I hate it when USB devices don't connect. I actually added a few USB ports to my pc because I never have enough and I had a couple of spare USB headers on my motherboard so I though I might as well use them.
One common USB error I get is when I turn on my printer, there is an error message that the USB device failed. Only way to proceed is to turn off and on the printer again which fixes it and the printer then works properly. Anyone ever get a fix for that?
HOW TO ENLARGE YOUR C DRIVE OF WINDOWS WITH EXTERNAL PASSPORTS TO GIVE YOU MORE ABILITY TO HAVE SPACE ON YOUR WINDOWS C SEPERATED FROM EVERYTHING ELSE ON YOUR COMPUTER FOR BACK UP ?...
So funny you release this video now, I've had issues with my USB's and Bluetooth not working for the past 2 weeks. All but 2 ports were getting power but no data and were not being recognised by windows at all and my onboard bluetooth wasnt being detected. I tried: checking all internal connections and cables; windows updates; installing chipset drivers; device manager updating usb root hub drivers, delete drivers, unchecked the option to allow windows to turn off to save power for each root hub; windows repair, reinstalling windows from a 6 month old system image; turned off USB Selective Suspend Mode in power and sleep settings; changed the behaviour of my power button by disabling Fast Startup in the Power and Sleep Settings and a few other troubleshooting things. I still havent completely fixed the problem but it now only doesnt work when I first switch on my PC, when i restart in Windows everything works properly again which makes me think it is the Power Button behaviours that is the issue but i don't know how to fix it but i can live with it now. Before hand no amount of restars fixed the issue.
@@Britec09 haha thanks mate. Just want you to know I love your videos, i've been watching for a few years and they are the first place I look when i'm having PC issues. Thank you!
Mine stopped working as well as my Bluetooth after using driver booster once ( I know, stupid right). No matter what I tried, they were still showing orange. Everything finally started working again one day after I updated my bios 😂
My mouse and keyboard is on charged/LED but lost of control. Anyone having this problem.. If you can’t use mouse and keyboard, how could you follow these steps?
I used my mouse and keyboard for like 3 months now with this pc( the pc is also 3months old). Tried them on different pc/laptop they working just fine. Please help :(
