Now I know why Chum of Finding Nemo mocks them in the meeting: "Dolphins! They think they're so cute. Oh, look at me! I'm a flippy little dolphin, let me flip for you "

I knew that Dolphins and sharks didn't like each other. But I had no idea how big their beef was. They running hands on sight everytime

The fact that killer whales know where the liver is in a shark and that it's vita-rich is INSANE. I had no idea.

I had a coworker who was once an underwater dive guide. He said that he never worried about sharks, particularly Great Whites, because they just chill when not hunting. Dolphins, however, always made him worry because in his words, "Dolphins are assholes!"

This reminds me of a documentary in an aquarium where a shark co-existed peacefully with a small pod of dolphins. However, when one of the dolphins was going to give birth, the pod turned on the shark and killed it. They probably decided that having a shark in the tank was too much of a risk for the newborn.

Shark: I will kill you dolphins. Dolphins: if you can survive our uppercut.

When crossing the North Atlantic, I watch a large pod of dolphins accompanying my small tanker attack a giant manta ray of about 28' wing tip to wing tip (a sort of shark, in their eyes!). The dolphins quickly swam ahead of our ship, circled the manta, and then simultaneously leapt about ten feet in the air toward the manta so that they seemed to ALL come down on its back. The motion was rather like that of a water fountain in reverse. In half a minute, there was nothing left of the manta but blood, torn flesh, and foam. The pod soon returned to us. How I wish I had a camera to record it!! Yes, even if you're a Great White shark, you're dead meat if you are spotted by such a pod of dolphins.

I was fishing in Australia about 12 months ago when this Bull shark beached itself about 25/30 feet from where we were fishing. I thought thats weird , at first I thought it was a croc but no. A big Dolphin was chasing this shark and I can tell you the shark was scared, they don`t beach themselves , especially Bull sharks. A couple of moments later we spot what we assume was a female and a small baby about 50 meters away. I truly believed at the time that the big dolphin was protecting the baby. Now I`m sure.

I remember seeing a dolphins for the first time and I was a little freaked out about how big they where, I mean obviously not as big as great whites or anything, but maybe due to what I saw as a kid I thought they where a lot smaller.

It's nice to know sharks are afraid of something. I'm going scuba diving next week and it never occurred to me I might see sharks.

Wow. I always knew sharks avoided orcas and other larger whales. But I did not know that they are bullied by even the much smaller dolphins. Sharks just seem to be at a general disadvantage to mammals in the water.

I've seen a lot of dolphins. They are smarter than most people i know.

The actual injury involved in ramming the underside of the shark is the bursting of the liver. In a shark, the liver runs along the length of the soft underbelly. It's a weak spot by design.

Fun fact: Orcas, the largest of the dolphin family, have a part of their brain governing emotion that humans don't have, which means they can experience all of the emotions that humans do, and quite possibly to a deeper level. They have been seen living in communities as large as 300 members, made up of several different families all cooperating in unison. Orca calfs who spend time being raised by their grandmothers have been shown to have a much greater chance of survival. These are very complex creatures.
