The biggest hypocrisy of evangelicals to me is that none of them claim a need for authority to preach the gospel of Christ or to teach. But then they turn around and say that we have no authority to preach or teach when we claim literal priesthood authority from the living God. Seems like an insecurity thing to me.

I think one of the scariest things about evangelicals is that as a member of the church, with the Spirit with you, you can clearly see them act in contradiction to the spirit and come at you while they are screaming that they are doing Gods work. The truth is really easy to see sometimes. I told a pastor what church I went to because he asked and his whole demeanor changed and he was just like I’m here to tell you that you’re going to hell! I was like “bro I liked your energy and what you were saying….” And then he got to that point… it was awkward. I told him I appreciated his opinion and belief and how he was committed to it enough to say that, but I don’t think he received that well. He was just fixed on it. The convo awkwardly ended.

Forty five years ago I left the Methodist religion ,which I must add I loved being part of but could not accept the explanation of the Trinity … for the next five years I investigated every Christian denomination, Jewish, Muslim, Hindu and others .. my friend attached to an Evangelical group and invited me to join her. My response was that somewhere on the Earth or it was yet to come is Jesus Christ’s Church and when I find it I will know … I was then introduced to The Church I’d Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and after praying about the truthfulness of the doctrine and declaration that the Church contains Jesus true and restored Gospel, I received a very strong spiritual witness that I had found exactly what I was searching for.. A pearl,of great price .. I am totally, completely blessed. Never a moment’s doubt in forty years since baptism..

This one crazy old fat dude wearing coveralls was screaming at us as we walked away from his front door, he had threatened to sick his dog on us, and even when we were on the sidewalk far from his house he was still screaming. Telling us we were "Stupid idiots going to hell and we didn't even know it." He used the word 'cult' at least three times. But the one I will never forget was when he told us he would "laugh at (us) in hell for all eternity". I have learned since then, that this really is one of their goals in life. It's all about positioning for them. They claim WE are bad about being upwardly mobile in the next life, those guys are off the charts. They really are trying to position themselves so they can get into heaven and laugh at souls in hell. As demented as it sounds, they really think they can do that, and they want it bad. Evangelicals have rejected any kind of apostolic authority for the dogma that they are the arbiters of their own truth via the Bible and the Holy Spirit (ie the Bible says what I have predetermined it says and means). And when you are the arbiter of truth it becomes a core value to prove that you are right and everyone else is wrong. Because if you were to be wrong you are in danger of hell, and no one wants to go there. I am speaking as an adult who grew up an Evangelical. There is only heaven and hell. You go to heaven if you believe the right things and hell if you don’t. So proving your beliefs are correct at all costs is literally a matter of eternal destiny.
@alisamcharness3947
@alisamcharness3947 Год назад
And evangelicals like to go after “Mormons” because they see them as an easy target because of the significant differences in doctrine. It gives them a platform to be “right” without actually having to really dig in to their own beliefs and wrestle with the tough questions.

I followed Bethel Church at one point and have even attended services there. I don’t have anything to do with them anymore BUT I did recognize what was trying to be communicated in the Bethel clip and the RU-vidr took it completely out of context in order to prove his point. What was actually being communicated in that clip to the audience was “the personality of the Holy Spirit is like the genie from Aladdin. The way the genie interacts with Aladdin in their relationship is the way I experience the Holy Spirit’s relationship with me”.

To answer the question of the title...Because they are religious elitists. Their doctrine makes this fact inevitable. They believe, they by virtue of "accepting Christ in their hearts" are part of the predestined few who are permanently saved, because God predestined it the day they were born (or perhaps before even though they don't believe in the pre-existence). Thus nothing they do or don't do can change that. In spite of the apparent contradiction however, they do seem to constantly need to self reaffirm that they are in fact one of the predestined saved elite (as if they don't quite believe their own doctrine that they are permanently saved due to a prayer they said in their heart on a specific day of their lives). I believe one way they attempt to self reaffirm their elite status with God is to bash other humans who they believe are predestined to not be saved. While I don't deny the reality that many evangelicals are sincere and believe that by bashing LDS doctrine or history, they are in fact saving LDS souls, I believe that some of the most vitriolic and outspoken ones seem to be doing the bashing in part, as an attempt to reaffirm to themselves that they in fact are the elite, and not those other heathen people. They couldn't care one whit about the spiritual welfare of LDS or any other person they perceive as non Christian. They are also consumed by their own self importance and prestige among other bombastic evangelical crusaders calling out those nasty non Christians. If they can out bash the next vitriolic evangelical accuser, they can garner more success ($ and fame) in their industry as it were.
@jtoddburt1
@jtoddburt1 Год назад
If you ever want proof of this, just ask an evangelical LDS basher this question..."If I live my life as an LDS and spend all my days striving to live by Christ's example, namely by loving my fellow man, loving my enemy, being charitable, honest, true and chaste, does your doctrine declare that God will not accept me on the day of judgment merely because I was LDS and believed Joseph Smith was a prophet and will thus cast me down to an everlasting hell together with Bin Laden, Hitler, Stalin, and every serial killer and rapist who ever lived ?" I have had many who answer YES to this question. To which I reply, "then I want nothing to do with your god, because such a god is trivial, unjust and spiteful." Not in any way congruent with a loving and just God. Unfortunately for them, their doctrine forces them to maintain this ridiculous affirmation because the minute they accept that to the contrary of their doctrine, God is actually merciful, fair, loving and just. Hence why he has prepared "many mansions" for His children and "degrees of glory" relative to how well they not only had faith in Christ, but actively lived that faith striving to be disciples of Christ with love, charity, honesty and chastity and continual repentance/humility. Also, that every human who ever lived must have the same opportunity to accept or reject Christ and repent or refuse to repent in their pride. Once they accept this just version of God and His plan, they are accepting LDS doctrine.

Sometimes I wonder whether the "plan of ones own Salvation" actually is a test to see whether we would be willing enough to sacrifice "our own salvation" just out of love for others, letting God know:" Hey, I love my neighbour so much, I want him to get the same and equal chance to accept or reject salvation, otherwise I will protest by rejecting my salvation". .. kind of interestnig to ponder what God what do all alone up there in heaven if all were that concerned about their neighbours... and though this certainly is a little far fetched, mayby there still is some truth to it..

@melodylady99
@melodylady99 Год назад
Being mean is not ok. I'd venture to say they were most likely aware that LDS scripture views them as "incomplete" Christians that follow "incomplete" doctrine. And if they are married, it's an "incomplete" marriage as it was not done in THE LDS temple. That already will annoy someone when you go to knock on their door to share that "gospel". They view the BOM as false writings, written by a false prophet. So again, knocking on their door to share with them your view as the one true church will be most likely viewed as annoying, brazen, and possibly arrogant by many. Being a missionary from any faith is not easy, you are walking into someones personal space and presenting what you feel to be the truth. To be fair Evangelicals view LDS the same as how LDS view Evangelicals, sort of inadequate believers that are mislead and don't have the full truth. So yes missionaries will annoy many, but they should be shown kindness, however people are human and fail in the kindness department at times sadly.

Cardon, I hear what you’re saying, but I don’t think President Nelson was thinking that if we stop calling ourselves Mormons that evangelicals would suddenly hold hands and sing kumbaya with us. I recall his central message was that the Saviour was offended by us referring to ourselves by a nickname rather than more fully identifying ourselves as His disciples. Personally, by stopping referring to myself as a Mormon and instead referring to myself as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ, I find that I think of the Savior a lot more often. I also have noticed that we speak the name of Jesus Christ a lot more in our meetings. I have been a member of the Church for almost 50 years and I have seen us go from a very prescribed, quasi pharisaical way of practicing our faith to one much more rooted in being guided by the Spirit. I also think the Church has taken great strides in recognizing that no matter how hard we try to do good, people can and do face some very tough challenges and difficult situations. I like to phrase it as the Church has gotten real about things and shown that we’re not all a bunch of shiny happy people holding hands (thank you R.E.M.).

Sigh… look man… I’ll keep your comment up, but dude, you’re doing yourself a disservice. We’ve stated many time that usually the first person to complain about attractive people is usually the least attractive one… and here you are complaining about Kwaku’s attractive friends that show up in his videos. I’m not condemning or condoning his party company, I’m just asking… do you really wanna be that guy? Cause usually that guy can’t get girlz, plays lots of video games, and consoles himself in his inability to attract women in shaming them for how they dress. Do you really wanna be that guy?

@@WARDRADIO man your defense for sisters being sexualized to sell is crazy. Here you are. You really want to be those guys who claims to be part of Christ true church making excuses for his partner to make extra cash by using lust to sell tickets. You really want to be that guy who makes others stumbles & uses women’s bodies for advertisement. Usually ppl like yourself & Kawaku get to many girls, you’re drenched in watching porn, fornication & sexual immorality. Being a disgrace to Christ & represents Christ church poorly. U guys really want to be that guy who knows so much theology but is willing to comprise for cash. U guys really want to be that guy who is a sell out clouded by money? Do you see how you can’t condone or condemn you really want be that guy who is double minded?

From a dating perspective once people find out you're "Mormon" you're treated much worse and differently than just Christian so idk bout that Cardon

@braydenweese1407 to be clear they usually aren't mean just like oh you're a cult, you're not a real Christian, or ugh you don't drink or have sex I can't do that bye.

@@carsonhawkes I just moved to Tennessee, and I can’t even believe how many people smoke outside of Utah. Even the Bible believers. The Church was really steps ahead of everyone else when the Word of Wisdom was established. I haven’t experienced any persecution of any sort, usually the first question my coworkers ask is, “Ya like Trump” and later throughout the shift, “So yer from Utah…are ya a Mormon?” I like the Bible Belt Christians, and I really like their music compared to our Utah culture. I just wonder if the stories of “Mormon persecution” are true and I want to experience that for myself. So far no one has accused me of being in a cult. I’m surprised how many didn’t know we believe in Christ though.

@braydenweese1407 I wouldn't say I've see much "persecution" only had 1 or 2 call it a cult and try to argue and send videos and stuff bashing. Most (in terms of dating) just see being a "mormon" as a deal breaker because of what their pastors etc have said about us.

@@carsonhawkes My grandad wouldn’t have gotten married to my grandmother if she hadn’t joined the Church. If I were to get married, I wouldn’t marry someone outside of the Church because I would want to take them to the temple.

I'm Canadian. I can't call myself American when oot and aboot, because that would be saying I'm from the states. The word was stolen from me😂. For the same reason I can't call myself Christian...
