Why Are Some Cigars Box Pressed?

Box pressing is when you see a cigar that is almost 'square' shaped. Why are some cigar boxes pressed and others not? Where did the method of Box pressing come from, and are there any benefits to having it box pressed?

I had a rocky start to box pressed cigars however I am coming around to them, namely EP Carillo cigars. They simply don’t have burn issues and the fact I can set them down without them rolling away is a huge plus. Oh and incredible flavor

I like a box pressed torpedo best of both worlds. But I agree, i find box pressed always has the better draw and prefer it

I am no expert but I would assume(ass out of u and me) that when they blend the cigar and do testing they seem to find more flavors come out when a cigar is box pressed instead of round due to less filler tobacco.
