Why are there no female characters with walking sticks? And why are the characters we do have such bad representations of the mobility aid using community? I talk about characters with mobility aids, specifically the type I use which is a walking stick or cane. Most of them are bad representation of mobility aid and walking aid users. And I talk about why this lack of representation is a problem for people who need to use walking sticks or other mobility aids.

Are there any well-known walking aid users that I’ve missed off my list? (let me know in the comments)
My name is Elinor, I am a 22-year-old sociology student who has been living with ME/CFS for 6 years. I started making RU-vid Videos consistently about my experience with chronic illness and mental health struggles in June 2020!
This video does not necessarily reflect everyone's experiences with ME/CFS because we are all different and have different experiences. This is because ME/CFS can be different than I have experienced, and each person’s situation will be different and therefore each person’s story will be different!

I'm glad I found your channel! I use a cane for a different reason, but you've made me feel more confident, so thank you so much! I broke my tib/fib last June in a biking accident, and the hardware hurts pretty much constantly. I also have a very hard time keeping the swelling down :( living in America, I can't afford PT or any other treatments. Please keep posting about this topic!!

Bob and Brad is a yt channel run by physical therapists, basically for ppl who can’t afford to go to one themselves. Their channel is super cheesy but they’re still pretty helpful and a good substitute for an actual pt. Good luck on your recovery!

I bought the cutest, cheap cane I could find bc if I had to use one I wanted to make it cute enough that I wanted to use it. Now I love mine and want to get one that matches my personality and I’ve found one I really like BUT none of my extended family was willing to look at the link when I asked what they thought. Apparently choosing to be excited about something to do with a disability makes people uncomfortable… how about we get a little girl with a bright pink cane that she adores? What about a high school student who starts out with a cool, fashionable cane and throughout a series she gets more and more insane ones. I’m talking light up, squeaking when you move and ending with a freaking live goldfish in it. Make a kid with a walker a recurring character and don’t really mention their disability outside of a special episode. Have a blind kid who likes sports and makes jokes about his blindness. I WANT BLIND PRANKS GUYS WE NEED PRANKS! Alright, I’m making a show. Anybody wanna start a yt series?

Jiminy Cricket's "walking stick" is actually an umbrella. You know, much like Mary Poppins in that respect.

What about Selma Blair? Obviously she’s not a fictional character, but surely it’s even better that she’s a real person (and a celebrity to boot!) There’s a fabulous photo of her all glammed up at an awards ceremony. She uses a walking stick due to having M.S.
