Why are these gold nuggets so easy to find? (Part 2 of 2)

Big nuggets, right on the surface, easy to find.....Why? I'm sure not complaining, this was awesome finding these big pieces of gold in such an easy spot. But then when I looked for more there wasn't anything around them at least nothing big. Yes The thumbnail is over exaggerating the size of the nugget to a unrealistic scale. This is just my little sarcastic commentary on all those completely FAKE gold videos being uploaded these days. I apologize if this obvious click bate, fakeness, offends you in some way. I know I will get angry comments for it. I tried to make it obviously fake so you don't think I'm trying to fool you in some way.

I see a lot of us agree with you that the FAKES like Mosimo and Golden Beard do get tons of views (which is sad), but the best part is reading comments on Beards videos. It's crazy how uneducated people are on gold and how it forms, weathers out, and deposits. I say yes, keep making "clickbait" thumbnails, it doesn't bother us real viewers and can only help to increase your traffic....and hopefully peoples knowledge about the facts of how gold works. Awesome video! I'd love to crevice that Frazier area, you kill there all the time!

If there's one thing I've learned from Golden Beard, it's that multi-ounce gold nuggets and 500 carat diamonds "form" and are extremely common right in young volcanic deposits, like relatively recent basalt flows and piles of pumice, and such. ;-)

Dear Dan I watch your videos regularly. I live in southern NM, so I thought I'd never have a chance to find gold. Yesterday, as I was fossil hunting in a dry creek bed, I found gold. I stood there in awe, screaming "l am Dan Hurd Jr!" I can't thank you enough for the education and entertainment you've provided me through the years.

@@Thursteen oh hell no. Here in Southwest Florida you would have to pan 50 tons of sand for a half of a gram or gold. Metal detecting ain't so easy and mostly you'll find change or trash. Gold is rare here unless you are prospecting in someone's jewelry box and some people really frown on you trespassing on their possessions. People like me will shoot you for that.

Ok so what I mean but “fake” is the videos of people literally walking down a river with a kitchen strainer just picking up nuggets the look to be an ounce or more just randomly off the ground or taking a shovel of like sand and putting it in the strainer and boom somehow there is like 6 or more 1 plus ounce nuggets which is not how things work if you have ever actually prospected it’s just insane to believe that would happen, maybe something like that about 150 yrs ago

Considering the changing routes and diminishing depth of ancient rivers that used to flow above the height of even elevated fields, millions of years of gold deposits built up in locations far from current river edges/beds - there are pay streaks all over the world that are nowhere near rivers. That’s why places like Prospecthill in Glasgow exist. It & a site in N.London have been flagged to me as places of former gold mining. The nearest rivers are 500-1500m away but 2-3000yrs ago that land would’ve been river base. I wondered one day why I was suddenly IP Geolocated to a ditch in a French Farmers field - eventually, I noticed the nearest river was in alignment with the dry ditch so I went to ancient maps & discovered “I” was positioned at the furthest inland point of where France’s longest TIDAL river *used to reach*. Suddenly that curious marker seemed less random. Years ago I had a strange dream of being on an old ship - I’d lost my right arm during Battle. I’m also IP pinned to the former location of the columnar Crimean war memorial in Sheffield, called “Victory” - coincidentally/not, the name of Horatio Nelson’s flagship. In the tv comedy Detectorists Lance finds something in a field & says “BOAT” (but off a tractor) this is followed by unearthing of bits of a ww2 plane that when tipped look *exactly* like a multi-masted old sailing ship. I suspect much refined gold could lie in landlocked fields that long ago used to be ship navigable tidal waterways ; )

Doubt it... all the nuggets are pretty water worn indicating they've traveled quite a distance. Not to say those spots won't "replenish" to a degree, as gold will still move downstream and be dropped in the same spots. But gold close to the source will be far chunkier and rough (also typically you'd find specimens) compared to the stuff he's getting out. Still amazing spots though.

New viewer and subscriber. Love the video and the gold. That Frasier river looks like a serious hazard. It looks cold, fast, and deep. I could only imagine how it would look in the springtime.

You might invite them down _there._ :-) Got some pretty good gold in Klamath/Siskyous still. Still rich "pocket gold" (like in the _All Gold Canyon_ story by Jack London) deposits waiting to be found (not easily). And heck, one can still get a gram or 2 of gold out of 4 or 5 classified buckets, right off of I5, in some of the South Umpqua gravel bars south of Roseburg (if you know which ones, and how to find the pay streaks). The Rogue drainage does have a lot of claims staked, though.

Great work once again. I can totally relate with the day job thing... I build roads in Northern Wyoming and Southern Montana. Very long days and weeks for 9 months of the year, rarely have a weekend off. When we hit freeze out and cannot work, it is not ideal to prospect.

Awesome video's Dan. Thank you for sharing them with us. Loved the gold shots and weigh up at the end. Take care stay safe some of those rocks look dangerous. I wish I could get out to places like that to get some gold but I have to go to safer area's to look for gold lol thanks again for sharing. ;)

Hi Dan. I do a little prospecting north of you in Alaska. Im just amazed as to how nuggets of that size kind make it up in those rocks. I’m sure the river gets way higher but wow! Maybe they come from the bank above huh? I really like your videos. You seem very genuine.

G' Day Dan great channel mate, I also like watching the water go by and wondering how much gold has been washed by never to be seen again and at times it feels like you can see the old timers working there claims. I do enjoy it when I get do get out there which is nowhere often enough keep the video's coming great stuff.

I enjoy your videos and I recognize the feeling of finding gold. I have a 250 acre gold claim in Northern California. And when we find gold it seems everything that is remotely yellow we'd always do the "is that a northern one?" 😂😂😂
