This used to be the attitude of successful black Americans for a few decades from slavery. Following Booker T. Washington's philosophy of building a strong foundation through developing hard skills, material prosperity, and solidarity, black communities thrived in spite of actual racism. That came to a crashing halt in the 1960s, and many quarters of the black community have been in a nose dive ever since. In tact families, hard skills, real education, and economic freedom and prosperity are always the keys to success for any group that practices it. It's the same ask over the world. Minority groups that have these values as the core of their culture do well, even while the majority group may not.

I hear you but with all due respect, most Jamaicans are of African descent, as they got there due to the transatlantic slave trade. That said, a lot of Jamaicans today are of mixed heritage as a result of other slaves and traders shipped to the area like Indians, Chinese and Malaysians, as can be seen in other Caribbean countries like Trinidad and Tobago, etc. So to your point, it's quite possible that Kamala's lineage was never 100% "black". We also have acknowledge that modern America was founded on the tenets of "immigration", so to speak. Technically, the only original peoples there are native Americans. Even the founding British were immigrants, albeit for coloninial and imperial interests. To say no immigrant can be an American president, is to negate the basis of America's existence as it stands today, altogether.

I’ve asked, what specifically has Kamala done for Black Americans in the past 4 years as vp - and my answer is not much. She and Biden did the student loans which helped many different Americans including some Blacks, they made Juneteenth a holiday and I’m glad about that - but nothing specifically tangible for us. The two last surviving people of the Tulsa race incident were recently rejected by Oklahoma for reparations regarding what happened. A lot of executives in the tech sector are Indians (Google, Microsoft, etc). I work in tech, I am often the only black person in the department or in the company, and the other minorities are always Indians, many born in India... Obviously, Indians are very driven, and they are not afraid to try to be at the top. They are raised with a lot of self-belief and drive to reach the top.

I knew her motivaton was to help her people. By the time my friend finished the story, she told me woman was promised several real estate deals from rich people in her ethnic group if she got her license. So she hung in there. Now this woman works with a man on a Bravo reali estate show. She refers clients to the show's stars in New York and Los Angeles. They have a motivation for each other. You better believe it.

Dinesh is Roman catholic and mostly from Goa which was a Portuguese colony not British. Kamala is Tamil Brahmin. Vivek is Malayali and Brahmin(upper caste). They are both of same caste but speak different languages.We Indians may all look the same but we're all very different in terms of language we speak and our cultures. The key is their parents want them to be in power. I've been working with Black families and children for over 20 years. Black parents as whole, not all, don't promote power. They promote working for someone else, working for money vs making money work for them, and they don't value a good education which starts in the home and in the womb. Prenatal care is extremely important for brain development. Both parents need to be taking care of their health. When I try to encourage the parents and children to get in the harder courses they look at me as if Im wasting their time. But sports and other entertainment or going into the military they eagerly sign their children up for that. Even if the child has high test scores. Its a slave mindset which is a poverty mindset.

I applaud the Indians for their excellence and unity! They are focused and strategic. They have strong families and work together to ensure that their children have the best education possible. Who wins all the spelling bees in America? They are not afraid of competition which is why greater than 50% of doctors in America are Indian. Look at all the CEOs of the big tech/IT companies. They are Indians. They, too, encounter struggles and racism, but they rise above the frivolity and foolishness because they want to win in life. It's amazing for parents to have ambition for their children, and to set the standards. Look at Rishi Sunak and how he rose to the top of the British government.
