Yea, that place near the broken bridge is a 0,0,0 point of the map. If the game loses the location info of anything, that anything goes there. I remember a time when there was a bug in the elevators that caused your character to teleport to that location if you tried to ride your elevator.
I lost one of my crafters. Now I’m trying a temporary solution that might work. I thought: “If the issue is the thralls being teleported while moving around the base, then let’s stop them from moving at all”. So I clicked on “disable thrall use” for everything: beds, crafting stations, benches, etc. Now all my crafters are as static as the fighters. Maybe that will prevent them from teleporting since they have nowhere to go. It's been 2 days since I tried this and no one else has disappeared, plus the thrall that went missing before came back
[Playing single player] I lost all of my thralls, at first they started wandering, then I noticed that I was missing some of the crafting buffs on some of the stations and now 2 days in I lost them all, the only thrall that remains is a cook near a lone 'wheel of friendship', I didn't provide a bed or chairs the only thing they interact with is occasinally hand warming at a lone brazier and a their workstation / campfire.
I have a theory that I have not experimented with but nonetheless here it is: When you first place a crafter in the world, I'm pretty sure they're set to follow by default, even if it says they're not. Place a crafter, open the command wheel, choose guard, place him again, and then place him on the crafting table. I think if they're placed on a craft table while on "follow", the game bugs out because they're trying to follow you but they can't follow you so they get pulled into the highlands wormhole or the inescapable void in the bottom right corner. Again, just a theory, not sure if this is the issue. I really don't want to turn on living settlements again to test this because I don't want to lose anyone again
@@einarr7301 I'm sure I used the 'guard before placing' method and they still wandered off. Fortunatley I can use admin settings, my temporary fix was to build a 4x4 foundation tower at the Teleportplayer 0 0 0 location, at the top I placed a teleport portal and just plucked them out of the air and portal them home. I still lost around half of my thralls though.
Conan Exiles is my most played game on steam with far over 1500 hours. Me and a friend even set up a private server for friends. But every update was a chaos. For every feature they introduced dozens of bugs and glitches. In addition, stale gameplay, no real new content, only bazaar items and jump to nowadays: I don’t even have the game installed anymore. That’s a shame.
I'm gonna play it when they have updated it for the last time, I enjoyed it when Funcom was in charge and not Tencent. When I could play it offline and all. Then mod stops working. I am sure they are all back now but.. Nah.. If I could play it offline and avoid updates! It would've been better for me. Anyway, there are ofcourse piracy but, haven't really looked in to it and to find the right mods for it. I have no greater issues pirating a game that I payed for.
So far, I have had one smith (shieldwright) that was deleted. Noticed it first when attempting to craft something, and that thrall was no longer on the follower list when I checked there. This is on Siptah, since I have been nervous about logging into a much more progressed game on the Exiled Lands map until some of these bugs are addressed. I also hope they can fix the "getting stuck on tables if the chair is too close" bug. I am tempted to just remove all tables and leave them with widely spaced benches so that I can quit slightly moving each problematic chair until I see a thrall manage to get up from it and walk away. At least those thralls are still there and providing their crafting benefits, even though they are getting imprisoned by tables.
Thank you so much Illibet for the announcement.❤ I'm on 1524 Official PVE NA and even though I prepared for the update I lost several named thralls that were placed and caged. On my thrall history they don't appear as gone as well. I was able to rescue one of many gone missing and all the players on this server are experiencing many complications after this update. We already know the drill that they enjoy rolling out broken updated on Friday to be resolved at their leisure since very few times they care to reach out during the weekend concerning hiccups and bugs they failed to solve prior to releasing update. ... I'm on 1524 with 6200 hours of gameplay. ... Oh, and yes on official - I had some thralls die upon rescueing them remotely. ... Thank you so much ❤️ 💕

My opinion is that they should roll back their official servers and hold the update until fully cooked. ... Also, a sincere apology would be nice instead of what Andy mention on social media. ... This is the second time we lose thralls.... remember last age we went through something similar with thralls and foundations disappearing. .... Pls funcom get it together 👀
what disco said is basically same that has happened to me, lost 5 thralls total, most had backups...but sadly for my bowyer there's no backup - bring back the sorcerer event! or return my missing thralls
On official 1522 we placed a tower in that spot , all or most of the missing thralls go there . The problems is i have 5 that just went "poof"...no logs , no reason given. All were T-4's , i tested T-2's and they stay at their benches, no food , no beds, not breaks....its odd its only affecting the T-4's. Ill test T-3's tomorrow and see if they do the same. IM very angry that let this update roll out KNOWING they had issues. We work hard tracking down the right thralls for our benches just to have them be stolen by a broken update. Still have bugs from Age of sorcery, you would think they would do better before releasing more bugs ! Very displeased....
If building a tower, try not to block the possible thralls at G9 from being able to reach the ground I suppose. Have watched the ones thrown to G9 on our server drop from the sky and land in a protective foundation ring built around the drop zone. Keeps the wolves uninterested pretty well. Our ring does have doors out, and I have had thralls rain down and run out. They run 200 meters, stop, then disappear. Returning home? or their demise, not sure. Build twin towers and link the two with a hollow centered floor under the floaters. Takes a bit of trial and error but its pretty easy to space if you have a couple standing on the ground. A couple fast elevators, and the ones that thankfully live to be teleported, become a feature. Best wishes all.
On multiplayer they dissapeared with no logs. On Console: Also there's a glitch with placing or moving objects. Cant place because the "View is Obstructed" being on the ground (not on a building piece ) allows it to work. So I ended up tearing down walls just to place down chairs. There's also a stamina glitch. Your bar will go down but wont regen, once its empty you cant dodge, climb, sprint, jump, or attack until you relog.
I don't have much Worker thralls left to place on my official Siptah PVE-C. My base was cracked open, I got killed during PvP hours and grifers used Purge to grind down my base, killing my Fighter thralls and looting 2 years worth of gameplay. It all happend when I was offline, so I logged in as naked on my bedroll in one of my outposts to find out that 2/3 of my base is missing. Clans that did it still are running freely on the server, if they got banned before Age of Heroes update I might had chance to recover fraction of my belongings when their bases would decay. But no, Zendesk ticket doesn't seem to make FunCrom look down.
You cant report them for that it’s a purge a ui in the game made to destroy your base they are griefers but the way their doing it is legal in the guidelines so nothing will happen to them
My private server tested it, it has to do with your thralls getting stuck on things. I wasn't having problems until I set a thrall pot for flavor (pve) but I set it up in a corner and my thralls kept getting stuck in flying animations because I didn't set it right. That was when my thralls started teleporting to G9 which seems to be the area where thralls go. Unfortunately people tend to build there and so are constantly activating the chunk. They fall down, take fall damage and get attacked by wolves constantly and die because nobody knows they are there. The moment I took out that thrall pot I stopped having issues.
I logged in yesterday to a few crafters missing. My thrall pot was stashed in a nook under a flight of stairs. My driver glitched near the pot in a wall. The other two are nowhere to be seen. I recalled one and disabled their use of the pot. Hopefully I can recall the other missing one today. I don't think desync helps thralls pathing either. Good call out.
I got lucky. Was doing major renos when the Age of Heroes dropped, so all my crafters were put away. Just south of there is a rock formation I call ‘Wolfstone’. On official I built a castle there. Every day I walk outside I count the increasing number of flying thralls in the ‘thrall vortex’. Got some good screenshots too.
That's gotta be a sight. I saw a group just chilling there yesterday and wondered it must of been a base that had some hidden thralls that decayed but nope. Ti's this glitch.
We've lost about 15 thralls so far to this glitch. On Siptah they seem to be at the intersection of I J/ 10 11 way up in the air. Built a structure to retrieve them but many times they just go right back to that spot. The true challenge of this game is mitigating the dev's screw ups.
To avoid this i have disabled the live settlement feature in my server, they are still placed like other thralls, they share their knowledge but they don't wander around and they stopped disapearing... for the moment at least! But well what is there really in AOH... not much a features that is bugged and kills your thralls sometimes and two little annoying quests to get two companions that are not worth it. In Testlive i had to wait and wait and wait for those quests that it was really a pain in the ass.
lol built a tower on the public pve server I play on so everyone can get their thralls from there. It's a right pain in the butt though since they all spawn together in a chtullian knot.
This is the problem you get when you have game developers that would rather add new shiny things to their game, rather than fix what's wrong with it. How many games now have been running for years but still haven't had bugs fixed that were identified on day one?

That spot that you noticed is coordinates 0,0,0 on the map. If you do TeleportPlayer 0 0 0 in your console, you'll go to that spot. When thralls encounter obstructions, they can teleport to get unstuck. As a test, you could create a base that's perfectly flat with no obstructions anywhere and see if you still lose any thralls. If they don't get lost anymore, then we might have a working theory as to where the issue is taking place and how to mitigate it until Funcom addresses it. I suppose another mitigation would be go to go build a base there. 😂
on an official server i have 2 houses one where the tavern and some of the benches are outside or the thralls have to go outside to get to them and the other with everything they need under one roof. i populated both with thralls and the one where they go outside all but a couple went missing and simply disappeared when i attempted to rescue them. the other place with everything under one roof is functioning perfectly.
Same thing happened to me. I rescued a couple but they vanished again. Just broke bond and started over with new thralls. Even new thralls seem to wander and can be found “returning home” but eventually make it.
That happened in that spot for me too, multiple T4’s went there, the best solution I can give is turn off living settlements on all your crafting stations and they should stay wherever you place them
I admin a private server. Tried a few different things to try and disable the living settlement setting but no go unfortunately. It's only for single player that this setting works. If there was an .ini command for the single player version, the same code might work for a private server. I'm hoping anyway.
You can disable it on private servers. It's in the server settings GUI. It's probably in one if the INI files as well, but I haven't bothered to look. You need to restart the server after changing the setting. All it does is causes the thralls to not try to eat or sleep. They still wander around, though; you can't disable that part of it.
Thanks. I actually managed to disable it finally. For some reason, even though i was in admin mode I still couldn't toggle the living settlement tick box. The game finally decided to let me do that. Happy days
I don't understand why they pump out silly things here and there, but won't make the game more functioning. I don't mind new things, but I'd rather the game function properly rather have something new...
I know I sound like a broken record, but SoulMask made me pretty much uninstall this game. Thralls in that game are so good. For those who don't know, you can "assign work" to thralls, so if you want something crafted, you just put it in the queue and watch them get up from nap, gather things from boxes and get to work.
Lost two followers on single player PS4: one was in the inventory of my work bench (moved there during the update) and the other I took from a lesser (middle tier) wheel of pain after it had completed its conversion (before the update). Both times I placed on the ground the screen froze. Reloading the game/rebooting the console, the thralls were gone. I haven't tried this yet with a thrall that's been subdued/converted entirely within the new update.
Its the center of the map cords 0 0 0 so if you want to teleport there you can use teleportplayer 0 0 0 in the console, the reason for them dying without a trace (or so iv heard) is if there at to many thralls that get sent their the game will kill off the oldest ones to make room for more. i can only assume its the games "oh shit to many shit is in 1 spot needa kill off some stuff to reduce lag" kind of thing but yeah if your quick enough in noticing you can get them back but if they are gone with no event logs, they will have been murdered by funcom
This shit is crazy. My brother and I have thralls that say "Returning home" but won't show up on the map. One of our cooks is set as "Guarding" but also won't show on the map. And checking the event log - Four thralls died, three won't say how just says "Died" and the other which is a smelter says "Killed by NPC" - Even had pets marked as "Returning home" when they were standing behind my house. I wanna like this new update but it's really making it difficult to do so.
I have the same issue. 4 are returning home. 2 are saying guarding, but can't find using the finder. Highly annoying, placed them before knowing about the bug.
I've been having my thralls go "ninja vanish" on Siptah. It seems to happen when they exit the base... for whatever reason thralls have. To stop this, I walled up my gate and set elevators. I've also limited their rest spots for easy viewing. So far, this is working out well.
Adorable that they think anyone will buy their Dune Awakening game after the shitshow that Conan Exiles has become. If you cant even fix whats wrong with a game thats been in early access since 2017 there is no way in hell I trust you to make a dune game thats worth playing.
I really wish that they went back to static thralls. My tavern is full of stuck thralls standing on tables, halfway through chairs and tables and even ontop of patrons.
Yep I lost a few. 4 or so. It was after they went to lean up on some crates. I didn't have beds or seats for them. So far haven't made a food spot for them. I have noticed they all can be followers which I'm kind of happy about. So loosing a few that wasn't geared uet wasn't bad. One of them will replace many other thrall choices of mine.
thrall taker journey is now apparently bugged, since you cant place a crafter on a workstation, the last step, so you cant finish the journey. unless there is something im overlooking. so if you didnt start your character before the new age, you cant learn the purple lotus orbs, unless they do something to fix that. for now just have to go loot chests to see if you can find some and stockpile.
Barkeeps and 3 thralls lost for me. (Single Player). Glad you showed the spot where we can grab them. But these bugs really need to be shown to get fixes!
so, I'm currently testing out a theory I have. If you level up your crafting thralls and then after getting them a few levels (so far my crafting thralls are all level 5) and have them placed (guarding) in your base, they should go back to their work stations. Also, be sure to have enough beds, chairs and a Thrall pot so all of their "needs" are met. Still not 100% sure on what those "needs" are other than needing to eat, drink and sleep. I've seen my thralls actually get a drink from my well. So far, none of the leveled thralls have disappeared. Only the level 0 thralls seem to disappear for now.
I play single player and lost a named thrall. I did see his icon up north, but didn't realize he could be in the sky. I'll check there next time I play. Would like to get him back and I hope they figure out what's causing this so they can fix it. O_O
Hated the announcement of this "feature" when it was made. Online servers especially are prone to follower wonkiness, so the idea that they'd just wander around properly doing this or that, just was never going to happen well. Having these crafters wander around offers some mild RP enjoyment on custom servers, but does absolutely nothing for the vast majority of players. This would have been a better release as an option mod for the RP community rather than a "update" for everyone in general. The fact that crafters now blow up your follower counts, wander around aimlessly and get killed by NPC's, and overall increase the computations of their online official servers meant this thing was a stupid idea from the get-go. Especially considering that even placed fighters often fall through foundations and will randomly disappear due to server instabilities even prior to this update. I won't say I'm 'glad' that people are quickly losing their enthusiasm for this idiotic feature as it's rather heart-breaking that the game itself, which has such a great foundation of potential, is consistently worsened by the lack of love and thought by the devs.
yesterday after the update i had ghost image in front of stations today gone but so are my thralls but when u open station says they are still there working just cant see them aaahhhhhhhhhh
All my named Thralls....are in the inventory slots of their crafting station. Im afraid to bring them out....until bugs are fixed. Also, placed several other named Thralls in fridge...lol...they still there!!!
I don’t seemed to have lost any crafters but I’ve had to dismantle my work benches cos the previous thralls image is stuck there. Oh and I saved a T1 from a cage that kept going DBNO without being hit
I have no idea why that is like this as well!! 🥺😮💨 I can't load single player mode on my consoles since the update came out! But on the official server I already have 4 followers "returning home" never to be found again! I've tried activating the eye icon to see where they are on the map, but it doesn't show any how! 🥺 On consoles those bugs are way worse than on PC!! Thank you, Illibet have a great one! 🥰🤗😉
All my thralls on benches disappeared until i turned off the new thriving village option check box or whatever its called then turned it back on . They all reappeared.
Funcom was aware of this issue during the play test for Age of Heroes and they decided to push it forward without any fixes or mentions of "we/re aware and working on a fix"
No idea how many I actually lost. Will check out the event logs when I get home; I know I've lost at least 3 T4 smelters, a T4 fletcher/bowyer, and 2 or more T4 alchemists.
Yes, my senechal vamooshed. She was "returning home" as you described, and I clicked no on the prompt about loosing all clothes. I just wanted to find her on the map, but she was now totally poofed out of existance.
What happened to you in your video was the exact same thing that happened to me. I ended up losing 7 workers because of this and I noticed that even though they were dead their names were still in the follower’s list so they were still some how taking up a spot for the population cap. I ended up having to completely delete them to remove their name from the list. Funcom really messed this up I have no idea how Funcom caused this issue so I have no ideas as to how to fix this. For now I have 1 worker out and I am testing her as a Guinea pig to see what happens to her.
Same thing happened to me but I wouldn't mind if you can actually get them to go out in the world and gather materials for you. Maybe even have a risk of getting captured and have to rescue them or leave them to they're doom And if you do, maybe they would come back and attack you with some friends
The location your thralls show up at, near the broken aqueduct, is coordinates 0, 0. Weird spot for the map origin point, I know, but that's what it is.
I looked on this morning to find I had a new neighbor in near my base by a Dalinsia spawn, I’m pretty sure he dragged the camp npc’s over and they killed 6 of my tier 4 crafters, I’m considering quitting it took me months 2 find those crafters
All my thralls, pets and mounts deleting on an official server. I had not logd in for several days but all went poof. Nothing in the log, all gear lost. Perfected stats, lost. This was about two weeks ago before the AOH dropped.
I just restarted a week or so ago, after a long hiatus from the game. Good thing to. I didn't have a lot set up yet, so not a huge loss for me. Plus I only play solo. But the two thralls I did have poofed. Neither were shown in the tracker. I just chalk it all up to Funcom's "It's not a bug, but a feature" feature. Ahaha
Lost 11 tier 4 crafters, was more but found 3 in same place as in the video. Turn off living settlements and just set them to guard at the table you want them at, since i did that I've lost none... so far
I had my thralls appearing up there in the highlands, the ones I was able to get back atleast. They also teleport to the bottom right corner of the map. If they're marked on the follower list you'll see their marker down there off map. Some of them were able to be rescued, some fell through the highlands wormhole, others just got deleted forever. I copied my gamedb to single player last night and haven't looked back. Was having another odd bug that got immediately fixed upon entering my world on single player. I accidentally left living settlements on for 5 minutes in single player and no one disappeared but i still turned it off because im skeptical. The game is far too unstable for both official servers and gportal servers. There's really no point in playing online. So far it's a much better game in single player. I'd prefer to be in an online server but that's currently not an option.
So far it hasn't happened to me in single player, not playing on any servers. Mine is modded with Emberlight too that adds thralls and Aquilonia Server mod and some others I only have 2 out rinning around testing it out, maybe it has something to do with the number of thralls you have out. I have no limit set..
Same problem in my single player put a thrall in the tables and benches and the slot where they should go isn't even there anymore so nothing but the dancers I placed in my throneroom appear at all. Another Funcom F up and they wonder why we get angry and leave the game.
Honestly the last 2 years anytime there was an update I just asked for a full server reset or just started a whole new character. The updates it has just been better to do a clear restart
its a wierd bug. funny enough ark ASA has a building glitch. where on the north side of the redwood. build items will pop up from random builds around the map. so im wondering could this be a unreal bug. and yes i know ark is UE5 and conan is UE4 but still same platform in basic
They did allude to there likely being more bugs, and that they'd be slowing down their development cycle to focus on polishing and fixing bugs between ages. Hopefully they fix the new bugs soon, and find a better solutions to the follower changes.
Such a frustrating update...I again made the mistake of looking forward to all the new potential. It seems, when the thralls` path is blocked/they are stuck somewhere, they get teleported to the centerpoint of the map (that`s in the game since the beginning). They also can get attacked by wildlife and be killed if they walk around outside of the base or be deleted if the teleportation doesn`t work. I´ve lost about 1/3 of my thralls, including my shieldwright and my bladesmith. So far I´ve lost both old thralls as well as new ones that I had motivated to follow me after the update. The barkeepers are lost as they couldn`t be placed inside a workbench. Choice out of incompetence on the developers` side, but we´re already used to that... At least the probability to get them out of the prison cages is very high. As the main problem occurs on the thralls` paths between workbenches/fountain/thrall pot and chairs, it doesn`t help to leave out doors to the outside. That`s not the problem. They will disappear anyway if they can´t find their path within the base. As long as everything they want (working stations, food and water) is inside the base, they will stay inside. To reduce the risk of losing our thralls, we can make sure to give the thralls enough space. That means: thrall pot and for example small fountain accessible from all sides, using at least the area of 4*4 foundations (3*3 might also work, as long as thralls can stand there and others can pass). It also helps to not use certain foundations where thralls like to get stuck more frequently. To say something positive about the update: I like to see it has been considered that more thralls might need armor and we get lots of padding as loot. I also like the fact that 1 thrall has effects on all work stations of the relevant type (we no longer need 10 smelters for example) and that we can select which one we want to use (there is unfortunately exceptions: only one thrall per type gets shown - only one bladesmith, one edgesmith, one tempersmith. That brings problems when two thralls have different recipes but are within the same category: for example with cooks - if you want to use the lonely fisherman`s special recipes, make sure that he is the only cook at that base).
Sometimes i wonder if they read the forums at all.I gave up on CE. +10k hrs still love the game but the devs are .... CE should/could be bigger then Rust but they rather focus on adding more and more stuff.They have no clue what people want.Many have been asking to wipe the PVP servers so players can start fresh for years.Who wants to join a server where 5 man clans have been farming for months and have nothing better to do then to patrol and kill to keep their position on the server.While the players who joined have to complete a small list of 500 things to do in a encumberancebuild just to get a equal fight.After 6 years of explaining this i can only come to one conclusion. DUMB!
