I believed that she stole love, worship and affection that was owed only to God. But nothing could be further from the truth. In Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen’s book “The World’s First Love” the great Archbishop quotes the Medieval French scholastic philosopher, and theologian Peter Abelard who writes “After the Trinity you are our only hope…you are placed there as our advocate; all of us who fear the wrath of the Judge, fly to the Judge’s Mother, who is logically compelled to intercede for us and stands in the place of a mother to the guilty.” (World’s Fist Love, Chapter 15, p. 185). The Blessed Virgin Mary is our spiritual mother who has direct influence over her Son, and when she asks Him for anything, He cannot not deny her what it is she asks for, because Our Blessed Mother is the most Christocentric person to ever exist. She lived a life of perfect virtue and obeyed the Divine Will without ever tallying up what that unquestioning obedience would cost her. God trusts her more than any Angel or Saint in Heaven, and therefore wouldn’t deny her anything. Think of a family; father, mother, plus their children. Now think of a time when the kids disobey the father and he gets extremely upset by their disobedience and is prepared to severely but justly punish the children. Then the mother steps in and intercedes on their behalf and calms the father down to the point where the punishment is exponentially less severe or has mercy on them altogether and pardons them for their offenses. The Blessed Virgin Mary has that level of power over her own Son, and she has the power to soften the hardest of hearts here on Earth. She is our spiritual mother. When Jesus said from the cross in John 19:26-27 “When Jesus therefore had seen his mother and the disciple standing whom he loved, he saith to his mother: Women, behold thy Son. After that, he saith to the disciple: Behold thy mother. And from that hour, the disciple took her to his own.” Venerating The Blessed Mother can never detract from God, because she can’t lead you anywhere else other than to Him her Son. Luke 1:46 says “And Mary said: My soul doth magnify the Lord.” I hope this helps you see The Blessed Virgin Mary in a whole new light.

You don’t have to be Catholic to be saved. When we accept Christ as our Savior GOD said we are white as snow because of Christ Blood covering our sins.

I was raised in a non-denominational Protestant Church and was Protestant for over 36 years of my life. I hated Catholics and spoke and thought very ill of them throughout my formative years and all throughout my adult life until I converted 2 years ago. The cold brutal truth is that there is only one Church that was created by Jesus Christ Himself while Incarnate on Earth. The Catholic Church is referred to as the “true Church” because it wasn’t created by man, instead it was created by very God Himself the second person of the Blessed Trinity the Eternal Logos. As Saint Paul writes in his Epistle to the Ephesians 4:5: One Lord, one faith, one baptism. In the Catechism of the Counsel of Trent p. 96 Saint Jerome (Doctor of the Church) writes a letter to Pope Damasus (AD. 366-384) saying “Away with envy, let the ambition of Roman grandeur cease! I speak to the successor of the fisherman, and to the disciple of the cross. Following no chief but Christ, I am united in communion with your Holiness, that is, with the chair of Peter. I know that on this rock is built the Church, whoever will eat the lamb outside this house is profane; whoever is not in the ark of Noah shall perish in the flood.” Everyone has to be grafted into the Mystical Body of Christ through His Church, the Catholic Church in order to be saved. There is a phrase in Latin: extra Ecclesia nulla salus, the English translation is, “outside the Church there is no salvation.” However, that doesn’t mean that we as Catholics don’t have hope for those souls who aren’t Catholic, quite the contrary. Look at Saint Dismas who is known as “The Good Thief.” He was crucified next to our Lord on Golgotha. He lived a depraved life of unrepentant sin until the hour of his death when in brutal agony he confessed his sins to Christ (the High Priest) admitting he was a wicked man and that his punishment was just. He had a true act of contrition, and in that moment Christ delivers to him absolution of all his sins and as Christ says to Dismas in Luke 23:43 “Amen I say to thee, this day thou shalt be with me in paradise.” So there is hope, but you don’t want to rely on being saved during the hour of death, just like you wouldn’t go ice climbing without crampons, ice axes, rope, anchors, cold weather gear among a ton of other equipment right? So why would we go through life in this Valley of Tears without the proper spiritual protection, worthily partaking in the sacraments, doing penance, having a well rounded prayer life and attending the holy sacrifice of the mass every Sunday and on other declared holy days of obligation? Like there was hope for me, there’s hope for you.

Actually the Bible itself tells us to only trust God’s word. Here’s a tidbit. A born again Christian is the only kind of Christian there is. A person born again according to the bible now has His Bible and the Holy Spirit called the Comforter. Bible says it is The Spirit who leads and guides us into all truth. And when Jesus said he would send the Holy Spirit to guide in all truth, he was talking to his Apostles telling them that. Now the spirit does guide the Christian in their daily life but the Church is the pillar and bullwark of truth, not the Bible (although the bible is true). Without the Church that Jesus established to teach in his name, then you get hundreds of versions of Christianity and what it means to be "born again" varies among them. If the Holy Spirit guides us in all truth, then who has the correct truth?

That's what I find most peculiar about Peterson: even most protestants would disagree with his theology, but he spouts it like it's objective truth because he feels it in his heart.. If anything it just shows the danger of individual people making their own interpretations of scripture. That is exactly the problem with Protestantism. There is no authority. Anyone can be a pastor, anyone can start their own church based on what THEY PERSONALLY interpret the church or scripture to be. How do they know it's objectively true? They don't and in fact, based on societal pressures or their personal circumstances they often change their opinions about certain things! That's how you have 40, 000 so called "Christian churches" that all disagree on fundamental aspects of the faith (like marriage, abortion, authority, salvation...etc). My father was raised a Pentecostal Protestant and he has no idea what he believes. He has church hopped all his life, changed his opinions like t-shirts and all he is satisfied with is that he is not Catholic LOL. It's so fascinating to me how Protestants completely disregard or ignore or perhaps simply don't see this huge issue. As Steve Ray once said "I didn't convert because of the beauty in Catholicism...I converted because of the flaws in Protestantism".

I agree with you. He means well but he doesn't have a great knowledge of scriptures and what he says (even some good advices that may be true) come from personal life experiences. He talks a lot of the issues of men in today's world and that is good, but it's also a subject that Catholic Priests cover quite regularly. I am Catholic born in Italy and until recently I had no clue about the galaxy of protestant denominations in the US, to me is absurd to believe pastor bob's church founded 2 years ago instead of the Catholic Church. I grew up Protestant but actually I think with help from horror/Vampire movies believe it or not. Have always seen Catholic Preists as kind of the elite of Clergy. So when I became a Catholic all of the Differences to me was more of a why was I never thought this. And although I definitely had questions about the why's and reasons and what not I never struggled or questioned in the least bit the truth, teachings and Athority of the Catholic Church.

I think Jesse would answer: 1) Silent prayer is doubting every thought, letting them go, and entering the present, rather that being pulled along in the imagination by one's thoughts. Whether you're imagining about God or the shopping list or something unwholesome, it's all the same trap. 2) You repent once and then get on with things. By living in awareness in the present and seeing how to let the imagination wash over you without it influencing your behaviour, we are guided past sin, so repenting becomes a one-time-thing. In practice the foundational sin we need to repent of is resentment of parents. Once that's overcome, overcoming the resulting behaviour becomes more and more natural. 3) Most people who claim to be in love are in love with how the other person makes them feel. God's love is peace, so love is emotionless. Just like joy. God's love and joy are conditions separate from the physical or emotional condition of the body. That's the best I can explain it. What do you think about that?

Yes! In the OT God sends serpents to punish the Israelites for their sinfulness and then tells Moses to put a statute of a serpent on top of a pole so that whoever looks upon it may be healed. Now, if God hates statues; as Jesse holds; why would He heal through one? Clearly then, there's a particular thing about statues that He doesn't want. And that is us worshipping them. It doesn't mean that they cannot be used to help raise the soul (intellect, will, and appetites) to God through His Son in crucifixes, through the BVM, and through the Saints who enjoy the beatific vision. As for the rest, I could not help but laugh at your comment about needing a therapist. I could not believe what I was hearing, I was like he's got to be kidding right? right? Even in the bible Jesus says "none but God is good" yet you boldly assert "good women," you calling women "God"?

@@linyenchin6773 Jesus says that nobody is good LIKE GOD. Mary is good, but her goodness is not equal to the goodness of God. Jesus is not saying that you can't refer to a HUMAN BEING as GOOD. What He is saying is that NO human being can be GOOD in the SAME degree that God is GOOD. The Bible has many examples of where HUMAN BEINGS were described as being GOOD: "A GOOD man brings good things out of the good treasures of his heart" (Matthew 12:35) "for he was a GOOD man, full of the holy Spirit and faith" (Acts 11:24)

He wasn’t well intended at all. He wasn’t listening to anything Michael said. All he did was go on and on about his personal opinions which he thought others should believe. Many of his statements were shocking and completely untrue.

Nah, it's all legit. Yhall are still blind. You need to read paragraphs instead of verses and you need better reading comprehension. The bible doesn't say Jesus' body raised from the dead, all it says is that Jesus' body was missing. What his body mangled? Was it a new perfect body? Yhall still got hate, go and forgive your parents. Then have a moment of silence every day and night to let the truth catch up to you.

The body of Jesus is the church, every individual follower of Christ is a cell~temple within the fuller body of Christ. Jesus alone is head of his own body, not mary, the pope nor the long line of bureaucracy which is the infrastructure of the catholic culture.

Sadly, his views are similar to so many protestants and even some Catholics. There is much doctrinal confusion among the protestants due to the continual schisms. And as well there are many poorly chatechized Catholics. So many people who don't even understand basic trinitarian beliefs. I pray for an increase in good catechists, teachers and evangelists.

With respect, where in the bible does it say to pray to Mary so that she can talk to Jesus for you? Didn't Jesus say I and The Father are One, no one comes to the Father except through Me? So how does Mary factor into it? And also where do you get the praying to Patron Saints and what would you ask them for that you wouldn't ask Jesus for?

EVERY Protestant makes themselves the infallible interpreter of Scripture (not sure if you meant sculpture or you accidentally wrote that but you meant scripture) That's why there are thousands of denominations. It's still mind-blowing to me that Protestants don't see why that's a problem!

He does have some small truths, but a lot of way out there gnostic thinking. He's actually right though about Jesus weeping, many saints have interpreted that as Jesus crying for the lack of faith of his disciples. I pray Jesse gets some more proper teaching so he can have a stronger faith without error or heresy.
