This so true!!!! As a former atheist and criminal/drug addict I have found that it is so much easier for me and other addicts I know to accept that we need a savior than for say, someone who grew up in church or who had had a relatively steady, secular upbringing. I had a lot of horrible experiences prior to finding Christ but I am so grateful for all of that suffering because it is a reminder of what God did for me and how much I need Him.

I remember sitting in my church pew as a pastor talked about these sins that people commit, my mind was immediately drawn to that person across the aisle from me who I knew was a hypocrite in that way. Finally, one of those times.... Jesus finally got through to me and said you are the man! You were the one who were doing exactly what you're accusing someone else of doing. I was shocked! The Lord reminded me that the sermon was for me and not the man or woman sitting across from me. I was The Sinner and the failure and the hypocrite. I simply had to look so that I can see the plank in my own eye. It's amazing how much the sermons became relevant to my life after that.

It’s hard living a life following Christ. If it isn’t, If people don’t make fun of you, if you don’t struggle with sin, you aren’t doing it right. Jesus loves us unconditionally. What a blessing. Keep following Him. Politics and all the rest is a distraction. God is truth.

What ? If people don’t make fun of you you’re not following Christ correctly? SMH. Surround yourself with people who also believe in Christ and follow him and you won’t get made fun of. Also, Jesus very much involved himself in politics so avoiding politics isn’t the best advice. Get Frank’s books “Legislating Morality” & “Correct Not Politically Correct”. Educate yourself on the matter of politics and you’ll change your mind. We avoid politics long enough and we won’t have any rights to spread the gospel.

@@billbills7158It is true that the world and its people hate Christ and His people. People do mock and scoff at those living a Christian life. Now, we are told to live a blameless life as we rely on Christ to help us with that, so that people can scoff but find nothing to truly accuse us of. And when I say mock or hate Christians, I mean those who hate the idea of Jesus Christ. People love the idea of some of the Christian values and yet so many hate Jesus Christ. The values we hold to and are from God, people like. But they think just doing those good things will make them good. Only Jesus Christ makes us righteous.

This came at a time when I was doubting if I’d make as a Christian. Raised by a mother critical of everyone, I fight and often lose the fight against my upbringing but I see my need for Christ every single minute as I fight my thoughts. My husband’s mother said he was born such a positive and helpful child (he has brothers and sisters who aren’t like him so it has nothing to do with parenting)and often thought maybe my salvation wasn’t real. I’m definitely changed from before but will never measure up to my husband. It helped so much hearing CS Lewis’ take. I’ve been sick with the pain, fatigue and neuropathy that often prevents sleep from an immune system collapse for over 38 years and it’s a fight every day to keep a good and kind outlook. But I will keep up the fight. If anyone isn’t affected by feeling poorly all the time praise God! If anyone could say a prayer for my fight against my health and upbringing Id sure appreciate it. I’m praying every day but some days I feel so bad it’s hard to pray. Thank you very much Mr Turek.

In the first question of "Most Christians look just like the rest of the world, and why arn't more christians transformed?" I can testify that I grew up christian and believed in God, but then in my 20s I was living a completely sinful life. I was immoral, selfish and prideful. I then went through a breakup and turned back to God in my suffering. And in my brokenness I surrendered for God to help me. I then started reading the word every day, and devoured the new testament in a month. The living word completely penatrated my heart. And I felt the real presence of the Holy Spirit. It took about 4-6 weeks to fully see all my sinful ways and turn away from them. Now I cherish purity, and serving others. Completely opposite of how I was. Transformation is real when someone finally surrenders to God and allows the Holy Spirit to guide them through the word.
@kevinerose
@kevinerose 17 дней назад
Such a great testimony! I truly believe for a soul to be saved that someone, some Believer, must pray for that person. If that is true, you can know that someone in your life loves you so much that they were praying for you. Even when you were at your darkest and lowest point in life. Someone in your life prayed to God, "God I love Christina so much. Please save her soul!" Amen. And now, you can do the same and pray for others to enter the kingdom of God with you. I just love John chapter 17 where Jesus is praying for his disciples. Praying to God for their salvation and endurance to the end. This is how we must pray for those we love.

This is an excellent podcast edition. Lewis provides a lot of food for thought here. His point about each of us, alone, having to stand before Judgement - is well made. We will be asked to account for our own behaviour, God help us, on that day.
@seamusweber8298
@seamusweber8298 16 дней назад
@skippy675 Judgement awaits everyone who has been born and lived Those babies murdered through abortion cannot provide an account for their behaviour. They have not been born and have not lived. Therefore they do not face Judgement. Their "parents" face Judgement and they will have to account for that behaviour and for all other behaviours throughout their lives. Young children, children born and who have lived, but who have died at a young age - they too will face Judgement. Given the relative shortness of their lives, it is reasonable to guess that Judgement will be benevolent. Everyone born in this life will face Judgement. Make no mistake in thinking otherwise. Instead try your very best to live a life behaving in full conformance with the 10 Commandments.
@TheGuy..
@TheGuy.. 16 дней назад
@@skippy675 Direct answer to your question. God would know, since God would have all propositional knowledge, which of the unborn/aborted children or children that died in ignorance _would have_ chosen God's offer of reconciliation. This would also apply to all that never heard the gospel. That judgement/decision would "literally" be made through Jesus (if the scripture is true). If God exists, and if you can't trust God, then any worrying you do about that today won't make any difference in the long run. So as seamus advises, we need to be ready for the account that WE will one day have to give and trust that God would do the right thing for all others.

What about those who heard the gospel, but didn't properly understand it? Or heard a botched version of it?
@seamusweber8298
@seamusweber8298 16 дней назад
@mattr.1887 To know that something is incorrect and botched, presupposes that what is actually correct is known. It's like saying "the teacher tried to teach that 2+2=5". We know that 2+2=5 is incorrect because we know 2+2=4 is correct instead. So to know that something is botched or incorrect, presupposes that we know what is correct.

There's an obvious omission that this man's wife used as her excuse to leave Christianity. Her own behaviors. It's easy to blame other people of hypocrisy and ignore her own. Let's examine her life. She'd better be flawless if she's going to point fingers at others for not being perfect. Not to mention the fact that we don't become Christians by following other people's behavior, so there's no reason to walk away from God for it. It's Jesus who we believe in, surrender to, and follow. It's likely she's a religious Sunday goer and is leaving in favor of her pride and other sinful beliefs of this world because there's an over abundance of hypocrisy to be found everywhere else. Jesus said, "there is only one who is good and that is God." It's impossible to expect perfection from anyone less, especially when she isn't either and never will be. That's a unrealistic burden that none of us can live up to.

I believe The Lord wants us to love Him because of who He is. He is the creator and sustainer of all things. If we truly understand who He is, we then will understand who we are. That we are nothing and He is everything. Jesus said "without me ye could do nothing." We need Him, He don't need us. Understanding that develops gratitude, and humility. And when we humble ourselves to Him, He will exalt us. The Holy Spirit will lead us into all truth. We no longer walk after the flesh but after the Spirit. This is the transformation, by faith in Him.

"The Bible doesn't say that you are going to become perfect when you become a Christian." So I'm curious what is the best interpretation of “No one who lives in him keeps on sinning. No one who continues to sin has either seen him or known him. Dear children, do not let anyone lead you astray. The one who does what is right is righteous, just as he is righteous. The one who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work. No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God’s seed remains in them; they cannot go on sinning, because they have been born of God. This is how we know who the children of God are and who the children of the devil are: Anyone who does not do what is right is not God’s child, nor is anyone who does not love their brother and sister.” ‭‭1 John‬ ‭3‬:‭6‬-‭10‬

Deconstruction isn't the issue. It's the person who does so. Are they doing it to figure out history are they doing it to answer questions are they doing it because they stopped believing, it's all up to the person doing it. I was an Agnostic, and I started deconstructing various religions and history to figure out what happened in the past. I ended up on Christianity with everything. I was then deconstructing Christianity and while doing so made me fall into it more and more eventually following it. So its not about deconstruction it's about the person doing so and for what purpose. Imo if you already have that many questions, and are in the faith, go to a clergy leader for questions. If you can't get an answer, go to one who can give you an answer. Humans don't know everything; you'll eventually find a clergy leader who knows the answer to your questions. Outside of that, if you locked in with God, follow the book, ignore all the other Christians who you see as hypocrites. Follow the word and only the word and keep it pushing, at the end of the day you not the one punishing them for not following the word, that will be God.

I have a thought on this that might be a little different. The hypocrisy argument also fails in once sense: the spirit realm. We do not understand the spirit realm and all that happens. We know satan and his demons attack relentlessly believers in Christ, and we know satan attacks anybody, but does satan attack a non-believer like he does a believer? I would say no. I've dealt with relentless temptation, doubt, discouragement. I'm not saying unbelievers aren't tempted too, but in the spirit realm, it could be that frankly speaking the demonic forces are concentrating their efforts on believers and not unbelievers so actually doing the Christ-like walk is much, much harder for believers than just living a "moral" life for unbelievers. It is easier to run a marathon in perfect conditions and much harder to run a marathon through quicksand. That's what unbelievers do not understand. Satan does not care if a person leads a "moral life" especially if that person is an unbeliever because he knows that "moral life" will profit that person nothing in the end. In fact, he may compel some people to lead a "moral life" in order to deceive them into believing their innate "goodness" saves them; and we know as believers that it does not save, only faith in Jesus' death and resurrection does that. So an unbeliever may lead a better "moral life" than a Christian, but it could be only because they have not been tempted, tested, or tried by God or satan like a believer has been. All those unbelievers who look at believers and think they are hypocrites could find at the Great White Throne Judgment that their walk and temptations were EASY compared to what the believers had to deal with. It's like comparing the soldier on the front lines of a war against a politician sitting in his air-conditioned office thousands of miles away from the front line and that politician thinks his life and the soldier's "fight" has been the same. It hasn't been. Believers are in a relentless slug-fest with satan and his minions, but unbelievers are probably not anywhere near in the same type slug-fest as believers are.

This is another issue with a Calvinistic perspective. If your belief system is such that you have been taught that all unregenerate only do evil continually (and take that 100% literally) then you will likely be stumbled by the reality that some display an innate understanding of the natural law we all intrinsically recognize. Even if it is selfishly pragmatic, we have to all recognize that the unregenerate, whether by the grace of God or otherwise, do some good things.

@@1new-man Sanctification has been misunderstood as being a process of growth. It is not. Sanctified, holy and saint are all 3 translated from just one word, άγιος. If we are a saint or holy (set apart for God) immediately upon salvation, then we are also sanctified immediately. You will notice that Jesus sanctified Himself. Does that mean He had to go through a process? The NT writers always talks about Christians as sanctified, a completed action or state of affairs. That state of affairs never changes since Jesus never loses any that the Father gives Him...since that state of affairs is sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise. In Hebrews, Heb 10:14 for example, some translations have "being sanctified" and this looks like a process is going on. This is a poor translation. Τhe word αγιαζόμενους is accurately "sanctified ones". It is in the past tense...completed. Since the NT identifies many that are sanctified (completed, in the past tense) and if it was a process, then there should be some written criteria for showing us how we can identify when we've achieved that state. Yes, we do go through a growth process. It is called a growth process or just being mature (Phil 1:6). And true, it won't be complete while living in this segment of our lives on the earth. On the rest of what you said, I agree with you 10,000%. Bless you brother.

Hello. I am an atheist. I define atheism as suspending any acknowledgment as to the reality of any particular god until sufficient credible evidence is presented. My position is that *_I currently have no good reason to acknowledge the reality of any god._* And here is why I currently hold to such a position. Below are 11 facts I must consider when evaluating the claim made by certain theists that a particular god exists in reality. To be clear, these are not premises for any argument which _concludes_ there to be no gods. These are simply facts I must take into account when evaluating the verity of such a claim. If any of the following facts were to be contravened at a later time by evidence, experience, or sound argument, I would THEN have good reason to acknowledge such a reality. 1. I have never been presented with a functional definition of a god. 2. I personally have never observed a god. 3. I have never encountered any person who has claimed to have observed a god. 4. I know of no accounts of persons claiming to have observed a god that were willing or able to demonstrate or verify their observation for authenticity, accuracy, or validity. 5. I have never been presented with any _valid_ logical argument, which also introduced demonstrably true premises that lead deductively to an inevitable conclusion that a god(s) exists in reality. 6. Of the many logical syllogisms I have examined arguing for the reality of a god(s), I have found all to contain a formal or informal logical fallacy or a premise that can not be demonstrated to be true. 7. I have never observed a phenomenon in which the existence of a god was a necessary antecedent for the known or probable explanation for the causation of that phenomenon. 8. Several proposed (and generally accepted) explanations for observable phenomena that were previously based on the agency of a god(s), have subsequently been replaced with rational, natural explanations, each substantiated with evidence that excluded the agency of a god(s). I have never encountered _vice versa._ 9. I have never knowingly experienced the presence of a god through intercession of angels, divine revelation, the miraculous act of divinity, or any occurrence of a supernatural event. 10. Every phenomenon that I have ever observed appears to have *_emerged_* from necessary and sufficient antecedents over time without exception. In other words, I have never observed a phenomenon (entity, process, object, event, process, substance, system, or being) that was created _ex nihilo_ - that is instantaneously came into existence by the solitary volition of a deity. 11. All claims of a supernatural or divine nature that I have been presented have either been refuted to my satisfaction or do not present as _falsifiable._ ALL of these facts lead me to the only rational conclusion that concurs with the realities I have been presented - and that is the fact that there is *_no good reason_* for me to acknowledge the reality of any particular god. I have heard often that atheism is the denial of the Abrahamic god. But denial is the active rejection of a substantiated fact once credible evidence has been presented. Atheism is simply withholding such acknowledgment until sufficient credible evidence is introduced. *_It is natural, rational, and prudent to be skeptical of unsubstantiated claims, especially extraordinary ones._* I welcome any cordial response. Peace.

@@skippy675 One of several problems that you and Theo have are that you are looking to people in how you judge the existence of God or Christianity instead of looking to creation or Christianity itself. If you don't see the self-evident evidence of your own supernatural spiritual nature, then that is a major barrier to seeing other evidences for other supernatural conclusions. You also need to consider why God, if He exists, would leave us with what He would consider "sufficient" evidence for His existence that would fit in with other objectives He may have. Christian belief is always rooted in evidence. In your reply you seemed to hold to the irrational "leap of faith/belief" definition. People have faith while lacking evidence but Christ and the apostles Always gave evidence sufficient for a rational faith/belief. So yes, we need to believe first to become reconciled to God, but that belief is "Because" of the evidence. Some claiming to be Christian don't seem to realize that. That's not Christ's fault so don't look to Christians for making your judgement of Christ or Christianity. Sometimes Christians have evidence but don't know how to articulate the evidence they hold. Remorse and their own spiritual nature is sufficient evidence that can lead someone to making a decision that is pleasing to God (Heb 11:6).

@@skippy675 Sure, Islamists can claim the same thing about faith. It's the evidence that we must examine. Islam has nothing to confirm their claims as Christianity does. They claim Christ but there is no line of authority connecting Christianity to Islam. The religion I heard first is irrelevant. I would switch do Buddhism, Islam or whatever if they were shown to be more rational. Only to ignore what they offer is what is problematic. You are suggesting what is called the genetic fallacy. If I'm afraid of missing out on God, I will certainly do what I can to try to understand 'the right Creator'. I was raised during the rebellious age of the 60's so rebelling against Christianity over another religion would be no problem for me if the other religion was the more rational worldview. I rebelled against Christianity too. Sure, it is natural to consider the consequences of sin if there is a God to sin against. I'm convinced by many evidences that God exists and that Christian scripture accurately identifies God. So, you and I are both aware of the consequences and remedies for sin if God exists. I, however, acknowledge the evidences as sufficient and that the evidences are, not overwhelming, for reasons to meet God's purpose to not coerce us into a relationship with Him. And, I find it reasonable and logical to conclude that if God exists that He created us to have a perfect, eternal loving relationship with us which would require God to offer _"a thorough and complete process of dealing with sin."._ The other religions lack in this area.

@intentionally-blank No, I did NOT. I wrote 'suspending' to express the notion that I will remain open to any actual evidence if and when it is presented. IOW, I have not "closed the case" for encountering sufficient evidence or a rational sound argument in the future that substantiantes the truth of _your_ claim. Do you have a more thorough knowledge of _my own_ intent than I? If so, please explain this feat of knowledge. If not, admit that was not how I employed the term 'suspending.' To answer _your_ question, I don't have any means, method, or manner of knowing what will happen if I am holding my current position when I die. Have YOU?

@skippy675 Yes. I deleted my question after reading your response a second time. I didn't realize I needed to read it more carefully until I read your correspondence with TheGuy. I apologize for my misunderstanding. Peace.

If A christian as a christian is judged as a bad; then what of that same person without the love of God in them? How horrible would they be without God. So it seems, for all we know, this is as good as that one gets.
