i personally liked it, very much... because i wasn't looking for mystery, i was looking for answer to one question only, "who is Arlecchino", i and got my answer, and i loved every bit of it.
Considering the fact that the quest was never meant to give us all answers regarding her, but only touch upon her role as the Knave, the differences between her and Crucabena and some revelations like the confirmation that she's not Fontainian, or that she actually really cares for even the "weaker" children who want out, I loved it. For me this is a 10/10 story quest and the fact that I already knew her backstory, aka also knew about Clervie, it made me care for her so much more than I would otherwise. And by the point Arlecchino actually talks about her backstory is already too late, as by then, Clervie has 1 more scene before gone. I wasn't looking for mysteries and questions in regards to the house , but a well told story, and that I got. Though, I respect your opinion and can't argue about your pov.
Getting more Clervie and her showing just how much she cared for Perrie was really touching and im glad that it was included. I was really interested in the mystery at first. Especially with how well Freminet, Lyney, and Lyneet was interacting I still enjoyed the quest , I just wish the placement of the animation could have been better. Still hoping for a part 2 tho!
I reallyyy liked the story quest, mostly because i dont mind knowing spoilers, it would have been reaallly great for me if they released the animation after the story quest, or somehow integrated it at the end of the story quest, like they did with Shenhe or furina's story quest when she was telling us about her past. But also, we are aware of that cinematic because we played it as it got released, new players in the future might not find that cinematic until after the story quest which will make the experience much more enjoyable for them. But I honestly do not mind Arlechinno being perfect and ahead of us for once, because we have yet to have a single character make traveler aware of how much they lack and how weak they actually are (other than maybe Dottore, which makes a lot of sense rank wise). She is meant to bring us down to earth a little bit, because traveler has been able to solve every single problem thrown their way so far, except this one which involves this person that is so prepared to deal with our every move. The reason this problem came to a solution is because there was nothing to be solutioned, things would have went in a similar manner without traveler being there, she would have done the punishing, lyney would have protected his siblings, and the other siblings would have had their memory wiped anyways.
I'm glad she showed us the difference in power. Even with elemental power I don't think we can put up much of a fight It matches up with her character and I'd be disappointed if we were able to take on the top-ranking harbingers. I think I was more under the assumption that whatever was in her story quest would complement her animation and not be a retelling of it.
That thumbnail is way too sensational. It was not a disaster. It just had a little of the air let out of it. As a general rule -- and I realize this was an exception -- I've learned that I absolutely cannot look at published animation content on Genshin's channel until I have fully cleared the quest content because they post the cutscenes for quests like 2 days after the content goes live. So the fact that they did this to build up marketing hype doesn't really annoy me. Disappoint? Maybe. But the quest itself was fine.
4:05 I didn't play the quest yet but did Neuvilette really said that. He knows that she is doing so much ilegal stuff that she would get life sentence in meripede . Her ilegal investigation, assasinations , child soldiers, sending spys to traspas in highest court and prison to learn national secrets and steal national treasure and her Attack on his long time friend and colege , the ruler of Fontaine, Furina. Doing all that during time of crisis and saying she did all that to help doesn't mean that she should be unpunished , she did all these crimes in land of justice and laws. Like how big is sneynaas diplomatic imunity that they can attack leader of nation and not even get slap on the wrist.
YEA LOL. He probably just understands the hassle it would be trying to capture a high ranking harbinger. Childe was semi-cooperative but still tried fighting Neuvilette which he wasnt ready for. If he went after Arlecchino that'll be a major case. And I doubt he would want that burden on him. The Fatui is a large organization with their hands in everything and with Arlecchino being the way she is. Im sure she knows her worth.
They really shined in xianyun's story (presentation was top notch: the flashback with the cabinet in the rainy night was fantastic). I was hoping they would keep similar quality for future stories, but they went back to bare bones. Also, can they please introduce a new "turn around" animation? Everytime someone turns around I react with a 7 grade magnitude facepalm.
LMAOO the "turn around" animation really has been the save since day 1 that's wild. It seems like with the story quest they want to try and do every "style" of writing and storytelling so each once kinda feels different...with many being pretty mid as well.
I gotta agree with you. The story quest on its own was pretty good but the animation being released before people could even play the story quest was kind of a bad decision made by Hoyoverse. The story quest would have been so much better if they had released the animation like one or two weeks after the release of the 4.7 patch. Nevertheless, I still think the story quest is a solid 9/10 and I will look forward for all upcoming Arlecchino-related content in the future.
Im hoping she makes a return before Snezhnaya Id be sad if we dont get more contents after this. I still think they should have released the animation during her banner but not before. Especially if they already had planned out the quest
also I've had my fair saga of videos on why I dislike characterisation, but I do like the quest quite a lot. I think an important detail is that she mostly doesn't even understand her enemies/kids half the time, and rather understands the fact that they're different. I don't think she properly understood them during the fight for example, but I guess trusted them? Enough to give them a slightly fair choice. She can be incredibly bad and is incredibly dangerous, but she has respect and care. To an extent That's what I think anyway
Thank you for the kind words! Shes defiantly not the most social person and thats clear. But i think she did trust the traveler too much the right decision and was satisfied with the choices that her children made.
Yeah a lot of it felt fruitless thanks to the animation that we got even before the update, all mystery gone even before we knew it was gonna be a mystery. I personally also disliked we got nothing on her, she felt too perfect exactly just for everyone to love her, she turned out to be good, she always knew of clerevie, she always knew of our plans, she somehow caught the bird and she defeated the traveller and the 3 siblings without even a scratch... I am okay with most of this things individually but joined it feels like they tried too hard.
I mean to be fair she's the head of an Intelligence Network and most of the people we were working with to try to hide things from her she trained. It's not too surprising that she would already be 12 steps ahead of them, we were trying to play her at her own game.
that probably explains why i found the reveal interesting(bc i didnt watch the animation before the quest). you do have a good point. i js find it weird that everyone magically seemed to be okay with the sudden shift in power. her quest makes her seem like a mary sue to some extent. i feel like her quest was more of a way to set up a future plot point (the house of the hearth) bc my biggest takeaway from it is that the house of the hearth is almost like an entirely separate entity from the rest of the fatui.
Finally someone who talks about this. Weekly boss story quests are usually really important, with big lore drops, but this one is just the same as any other 100% skippable story quest... The most baffling thing is how most of what we learn in this 2h+ quest was already in a 7 minute animation. It's absurd that they don't just play it in the quest, that'd be so much more enjoyable, but instead they go 100% "tell, don't show" 💀 And also there's the recurring issue of the boss being underwhelming but that can't be fixed without Yu Peng Chen anyway.
Yea with all the hype built around her. Her being the fourth Harbinger I was expecting a bit more. And not just all backstory. Hopefully we either get a part 2...or just her appearing in the future archon quests. But I'd hate if she didnt appear until Snezhnaya
I agree that the lore should still be in game, but they could have used different in-game method to present us with the clervie info. Like her voice line character stories.
I honestly don't get why so many people are complaining about the quest when they themselves made the choice of spoiling it by watching the animated short before doing the quest. If you don't want to get spoiled for in-game content, don't consume story content outside of the game before you've finished related content in-game first.
I don't think that is quite fair, there have been plenty of animated trailers and animated shorts that don't have spoilers in the released before characters and patches, I have never been this spoiled from an animated short or teaser before so why would I assume this would a spoiler. I assumed it would introduce her backstory but not that it would introduce something that would ruin a twist for her story quest.
Yeah how we were supposed to know media content they released days prior to her release wasn’t meant to be consumed until after we did her SQ. Surely the fact that they released it for public consumption means information that could be considered spoilers wouldn’t be part of the animation right? Stupid us for even thinking that this could be a possibility. Or, maybe they shouldn’t have released the video so early.
@@smolaether Version trailers contain spoilers and in general most trailers contain spoilers to an extent. Imo you should be expecting an animated short story to contain spoilers when the precedent has already been set by previous trailers. I do understand your perspective and agree that it probably shouldn't have been released before the update going live but at the end of the day, you or anyone else watching it takes the risk of getting spoiled. I also understand why it was released before the update going live. With marketing in mind it completely makes sense to release it before the update going live to build even more hype for Arlecchino and get more people pulling for her and spending money.
