WHY BAGS ARE OPNED AT KOTOKA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT 

They’re all shameless and corrupt workers at the workers. Twice I’ve been stopped and my luggage’s searched only for them to ask if they could have pair of shoes. Embarrassing. They use inspecting your luggage to check for duty but they turn around to harass you over your personal stuff. You have to be firm with the airport officials or else they’ll do away with your personal belongings.

Bra Kofi it's not true, they're marking every bag with that red shit just to be able open it and ask you for money. When coming home last year I had no electronic devices but still had that red mark on my 2 bags and was asked to open it. When they opened and found my sneakers,shirts and footballs in the bag they then said "sorry",so that red mark is their way of getting to open every bag so they can ask for a dollar.

What I was having in the bags was only my personal clothes and 4 pairs of shoes 👟 for some kids. They called and was forcing me to open but I refused. Because I told them to provide a rapper before. That happened to me years ago. A guy stopped me and took me to their immigration office with some lady's in there, and one lady asked me to give her one of my phones. It was my first time going to Ghana after 3 years, and I had 6 phones with me smh

Another sadness side was one of the Arab madam come with her ous maid. Bcos the woman dont understand the language, they were asking the lady how many dresses did her madam put in the bag. And other unnecessary questions. Imagine they opened their luggage and bring all the clothes n items out of the bag. Hmm i felt soo ashamed and sad for his house maid n her madam. Very embarrassing.

Kofi, what is normal about this disgraceful behavior of officials collecting monies from people arriving at the Airport? Even when you are leaving Ghana they still harass you for money. It's a disgraceful act and instead for you to advicing them stop , you are rather encouraging by saying it normal. In fact it's very embarrassing. Why, are they not paid monthly for the work they do there? Why should they force people to gift them whiles they are not willing to give and if you refuse they punish you by opening your bag or find other excuses to delay you unnecessarily. You should be advocating for them to stop it rather than encouraging.

You must have your facts right because the operations of the Customs officers at the KIA is awful. It is not done anywhere in the world that every time travellers reach their destination are asked to stop to be searched and it is not because they are doing their work duly diligently but for the fact that they are corrupt and want to extort money from travellers. It is a disgrace to our country that the customs officers at the KIA only target travellers they identify as Ghanaians to search their bags but not to none Ghanaians especially the whites. I will urge you to do a proper investigation into the work the ghana customs is doing at the KIA if you want travellers who have had bad experience with them to believe you have done a thorough investigations into their operations at the KIA.

My friend luggage is been missed in the airport till date we haven't seen it yet and we have been in the airport several times to get it but not available hmmm

Some times they want to see if you have phone so they take you money, why is it that only two bags they still check it and if you have only 2 or 3 phones they still want you to pay something, curropt customs

I and my family came home we are six in numbers the bags 🎒 were 12 each one for two. on the arrival one of my douther bags were not to be found.but the things were just personal stuff so we have to buy extra clothes for her at home one week of our returning we receive a call that our lagged has been found becauseof thisshe saidi will not go to ghana again because of that she's disappointed😢. my own bag was opened and i couldn't find one pair of my shoes . Immigration does not check bag kofi, bag on arrivals is the responsibility of customs and bag on departure is for the police to check on the security screening,

Ummm not entirely true with the bag search and crossed tags. They just open your bag and in the process beg for money or items. Also, the bag handlers work for the airlines not the airport. One tip: Tell them it is a crime to give airport workers money!! They will leave you alone

Kotoka airport there a woman at Turkey and Morocco airline dark in completion who weighs the bags she always choke the weighing skill so immediately you put your bag on it she tells you it over weight so you need to pay extra charges.Just this year she did something again to me she told me my bag is too big and heavy so i should buy Ghana mustgo and leave the bag behind i did that and after that i was trying to appreciate her withGh 100 she told me it small that she would not take it.She told me personally that she will take 300.They are all thieves.I don't care if those monies are going into the government for developmental projects.but one person takes it and chop them.God will punish all of them for their selfish behavior 🙄🙄

Kofi, it's never thue that your bag is opened in your absence. If a bag is suspected to contain a contraband item, the bag owner opens the bag in the presence of the custom officers. In Ghana, if the bag is opened in your absence, the possibility is that items have been stolen. We hope supervision remains tight as you claim.

They have been stilling our stuff inside, For the last two months they opened my luggage to steal all the drinks and chocolates I bought for my family. When my brother went for the bag there was no single chocolate or drink inside. They took everything. God will judge them one after the other.
