I have listened to this twice. I am on a committee where I constantly disagree with another member. By nature, I am quieter and she is more outspoken. I hate confrontation. I am learning that I need to do what is best for the whole, which is to speak up and make myself heard, even if I become a target.

Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle. This is at the end of each of my emails…for over 15 years … since dealing with my husband’s prostrate cancer which he refused to tell anyone about..except his close friend. I honored his decision, as difficult as it was for me not to have any family support even up to his passing. It has made me see people so differently. Be kind…it costs you nothing…because you never ever can even guess what burdens a person must carry in silence..and it may be the only kindness they receive that day. It will mean the world to them if you lift their spirit with a smile. Bless all. ❤

Wow, thank you this is what I really needed to hear right now. I had been in an 8-year "friendship" with this person. I have only met her once. In the last 6 months, however, she revealed what she really wholeheartedly believed in concerning areas basically; Religion, Politics, and Money, Racism, antisemitism, and prosperity. I knew she thought certain ways, I thought they were just opinions so OK everyone can have their opinions. One day she spent 2 hours basically trying to teach me the white supremacy manifesto. I was shocked to the core by her hatred against anyone who wasn't a white Evangelical Christian and all that goes with it. My family and close friends who I love and care for, as she knows, are multi and interracial, and have different religious beliefs. I was on a call with her and her adult daughter. The vicious and cruel way she spoke to her daughter, had her daughter in tears. Then she turned it on me and wanted me to side with her against her poor daughter. I was astounded. I struggled with whether to say something or not. Her granddaughter works for me and I didn't want to lose that relationship because I love and respect the girl, but all the respect for her grandmother was gone. Finally, I knew had to say something because what she was teaching and spreading were such vicious and cruel lies about God,, about human beings created in His image, I could not keep my mouth shut any longer. Wrong is wrong. I could no longer walk with her any further in any type of relationship no matter what. Her wrong is harmful, hurtful, demeaning, and cruel and she said she has studied this and loves teaching people the WS manifesto. I ended the relationship completely. I contemplated the humility of the matter; was I being kind, and compassionate, did I have the right to say anything, etc...I found that it wasn't humility at all but fear of loss, reprisal, or whatever self-serving suffering servant attitude I had so that I would look like the better person. That was pure pride and arrogance on my part. I knew at this point, she was so steeped in her beliefs she wasn't going to hear a thing I said, much less change. I said them anyway, so if by some small chance, she would be able to reflect on what I said about how cruel and hurtful her destructive beliefs and behavior affect her and the others around her, that. perhaps she would be able to reevaluate and change.

Thanks for everything you do I had a weird experience about the size of the ark today. When talking with my parents. And I realized exactly what you are talking about. It's very strange how the Lord tempers us sometimes. It's a constant reminder that we're not in charge. Even though we all have our stations we are not to disturb others stations. It's a good reminder to be humble and also know where you should and shouldn't interfere with other stations.

Very interesting, thank you. What I always ask myself, how do you know what is the right thing to do? And how do you know that what you deem the right thing to do is factually right and not your self interest cloaked in a convincing story? I can never find the answer to these questions, because for most situations we encounter in our daily life, things are not so black and white and I easily see the situation from the other person’s perspective, which then makes me think again of whether or not my reaction is ‘right’. I still believe that most people do not want to intentionally hurt others and do what they seem ‘right’, so where do their boundaries stop and mind start? It’s such a difficult question.

I would not get involved in another parents' business. I remember being an exhausted new mother with a toddler and an infant who cried a lot. I was in a shop with my children and the newborn was in the stroller crying. I jiggled the stroller to try to quiet her, but my main goal was getting what I needed and getting out of there. A woman walked up to me and with an angry look and a chastising tone told me to pick up my baby to stop her crying. She did not know me or my struggles. She did not know that I was exhausted and had two children to care for. Neither did she appear to notice my disabled arm which has made my life difficult since I was a child. All that woman did was make me feel like a bad mother, when in fact I was a good mother, and now I am a good grandmother. Unless you see a child clearly being abused, or a situation that is getting out of hand, stay out of other people's business. That crying baby is now a 34 four year old woman. She is a university professor, and is my pride and joy along with her sister. As I said, stay out of other people's business.

The sad part about your post is that you did not have the support system to help you with you children so that you had to take a screaming child out in public. I recall a time when children behaving badly in public and parents allowing it was the exception rather than the rule.

If this was the only way poeple would act towards parents. Then I would agree. But what If one offers help in a situation like that? Trying to humbly help in good faith is a way that many sadly don't do in situation like yours. Most societies tend to blame when someone can't do there tasks that are exspected of them. Let's work towards a society that does not start with blaming one that fails to do there task. But starts with trying to help. One who fails trying in good faith tends to be better then those who start blaming the other.

As a disabled mom with two children with autism, I had similar experiences from people while shopping, some called CPS on me for having to body shield my son once during a public meltdown, the cops actually defended me and chastised the woman for not offering me assistance instead of calling them. I offer assistance to mothers while shopping when I encounter others struggling the same. I’ve also had women complain about my feeding the children lunch as it disrupted the women’s lunch date, the manager instead covered our bill, and apologized to me, loud enough that she was making a point to be heard by others in the establishment. I’m sorry you encountered people like that also.

Just before watching this, I ran into some anti-Israel "gunk", that I couldn't quite deal with. I have the words and the intellectual tools, but emotionally I just couldn't deal with it. Then this video popped up on my screen so I decided to just go watch it and listen. It was just exactly what I needed to hear. The "gunk" is online, so I have some time before I need to respond to it. I figure that I'm better off not reacting emotionally or over-emotionally. The video has let me know that that's ok. It's ok to give a thing some time before saying something. I think that my response will come out better if I do as well. I disagree that "silence is compliance". However, I do want to be able to articulate points of view in intelligent and meaningful ways that help people and onlookers understand what is really going on. Thanks again for your videos.

I was told humility is knowing your place, and humiliation is being put in your place. I think it's more important that we're honest with ourselves about our strengths and weaknesses. I'm not a UFC fighter and saying that isn't rooted in arrogance. Marching into a UFC ring with a champion bare knuckle fighter as if I stood a chance would be rooted in arrogance lol. Sometimes it can also can be good to have all the facts too. I was accused behind my back falsely of stealing in a kosher market in LA back in January. Exercised great restraint to not confront the accuser as she walked to her car. I simply used the self checkout, carried my items out without a bag. Manager had his head buried in a computer and didn't watch me. Long story short, good in life to be pro-active, but not over zealous.

It's easy to be become ridged spiritually just letting go sometimes can save you too sometimes puting up a fight all the time just drains your resources and being flexible can be acceptance can be a emotional power utilized in our spirituality depends on the perspective you take its like the tree of life sometime life pushes us in a corner it seems as if we are defeated but in reality we are being minimized by someones tactics mentally enslaved and all we have to do is move closer to the place we need to be because let's say hypothetically we have been pushed out of gevurah and now we believe we don't belong but we do we just need to learn resistance from the world is apart of building strength for example when I go to the Gym I put on weight to resistance against my body to build strength sometimes just accepting the issue and working with the people or whatever it is will give you the antidote or solution to your problem over time because you'll learn from the challenge and youll adapt to its particular challenge "hypothetically" over looking stupid things and realizing someone else's identity is not your own but you can still relate with a fellow human being . Being flexible is better than being extreme being unable to understand or accept is almost bigoted almost will kill you if your a spiritual person you'll be on the ghost ranch luckily your ability to not care can be the greatest shield or the ability to evolve and change can be a solution entirely good old acceptance is better than denial move to the next step .

I value the wisdom given in this video. My concern is that of "free will" that G*d has bestowed on humans. We are a fallen creation and, often but not always, people end up choosing rebellion against the creator. I think a good example of a truly humble servant is Daniel in the extra-scriptural writings that carries his name; he listened and was flexible to the King of Babylon, however, when the King blasphemed G*d, Daniel gave a warning and allowed G*d to act. Note that Daniel became very strong in the spirit in such a way that he was rescued supernaturally from the lion den in the process. Daniel also served as a prophet to speak truth to the King. I think that part of humility includes: 1. prayer for our enemies 2. faith that G*d will *not* allow His word come back to Him empty.

It was so hard to hear a constructive argument that was advertised so unbalancedly. Talking about speaking out, I think the world need way much humility than it needs arrogance. It is so strange how there are so many people in need who would definetely need someone to speak out for them but don't get any vote or voice, and so many arrogant people on power wrong doing and waisting so much resources. I sometimes find it hard to beleive how such a wise person would post so unbalanced comments like that without (seemingly) thinking in the disgrace that could bring up... However, I truly find the constructive message positive, and I just would ask for prudency. People in power need way much more humility than they need to stand up, and that is something that has brought the world to chaos for so long.

3:42 I see what type of modesty you're talking about! I agree, it is important to intervene, and it can be done with a certain "finesse" that relaxes the situation and even bring a moral to the story. Something that some bondless funbags would do in such a situation is break a bigger tantrum at himself, alone at his own table, and repeat after the scoldy dad until it becomes really embarrassing... Then stops and put on the most serious face ever... Then smile, and get back to usual business.

Have you ever seen a field of tall grass blowing in the wind? The wind just rolling through it like waves. It's a fantastic sight... 🤩 You say its hard to distinguish when to be rigid and when to be flexible... But if you look at nature, flexibility has a beautiful effect in such a case... Rigid doesn't work when the winds blow. And the winds of life blow often, dont they? So when is it "good" to be rigid? Never really. 🤷‍♀️ Even when someone is being rigid towards you. You can be firm without being rigid. That looks less like an argument and more like, making it clear where you stand and leaving it at that. But even then there still needs to be a flexibility within yourself to consider what they have said. Remember... We look at the world from the inside out... They are looking at you from the outside in... Which means sometimes we don't see ourselves the way others do. Sometimes they see things about us we don't. That's not a bad thing. We all got "things"... The more flexible we can be with each other regarding our "things" the easier it will become to become that field of grass rolling in the wind, creating a beautiful sight the world has been waiting to see.

Their cat has been tolerant, but not well pleased with this new addition to the household. About a week ago the kitten was harassing their cat and he wanted to be let out. Then he didn't come back. After a few days one of my roommates told me that when he let his cat out that last time his cat turned and gave him some kind of "me or him" look and so he was afraid he might not come back. He spent the next few days feeling really guilty until we realized almost all the cats in the trailer park had disappeared because the pound had come through to pick up the strays. He projected his feelings of guilt and betrayal onto the cat, who most likely hadn't run away because he was mad, but was picked up with the rest of the strays even though he's not a stray. I catch myself doing this very same thing with my animals. Projecting how I feel onto them as if they are the ones feeling it, not me, but then I am feeling it because I think they are feeling it... Without touching the already formed specific organizations, which naturally emerged as a characteristic fruit in the conditions of unhealthy development of the society, it is necessary to clarify that humility clearly implies the complete absence of any imposing on the neighboring soulmates of what we can assume as necessary for them! This is only permissible in the case of child-rearing, where the measure of imposing naturally depends on the wisdom of the parent or the educator. Humility unambiguously implies a complete absence in ourselves not only of striving, but even the inclination to demonstrate to our neighboring soulmates either our cleverness, authority, or some other similar “nonsense”! Such a demonstration is being easily displayed when we are trying to demonstrate our purported educational background and alleged competence in an environment where no one is interested in our opinion. Humility unambiguously implies the complete absence of even the inclination in ourselves to somehow recognize ourself as ostensibly superior to any of our neighbors, not to mention the primitive attempts to practically show it by means of words! Humility unambiguously implies the complete absence of even an inclination to recognize the social group to which we belong as the best among analogous social entities, and, which is even worse and deceitful, as a God-chosen! The Heavenly Father will never praise any group among all his children, because it will always be devastating! And, of course, humility unambiguously implies the complete absence in those who call themselves believers of the Great God of even the inclination to somehow demonstrate their supposedly most correct interpretation of the Truth of God, for the correct sharing of such an interpretation is possible only if our soulmate, according to our doings, wishes himself to ask us about it! Moreover, the humble man realizes clearly that his soulmate, who has a different understanding of the sacred mysteries, may well have a more perfect understanding. The humble man also realizes well that if he himself cannot share the same understanding because of the possible scarcity of his mind, then, to continue to keep his previous faith will be a deed that pleases God. Only time can help to better understand the Divine things, but not the emotional momentary egoistic fervor of a self-confident brainiac!

Dear Rabbi Simon Jacobson, Thanks a lot for your exemplary and enlightening explication of the esoterically presented stories of the Bible. In the past few weeks, I repeatedly asked you to explicate what symbolically Ethiopia represents since it was mentioned in the book of Genesis when the River left the Garden of Eden and became divided into 4 branches, and one of those rivers surrounds the Land of Ethiopia. Nevertheless, you never responded to my inquiry. Moreover, Ethiopia is mentioned in the Bible so many times as favored by God, just like Israel. Amazingly, Ethiopia is also the only black Nation in Africa that was never colonized by the white people or Europeans since the Ethiopians defeated the Colonial powers of Europe on the battle field in 1896 when they tried to invade Ethiopia. This means that the False belief of the white supremacy was shattered and completely destroyed by the Ethiopians. Because of this, Ethiopia is the only black Nation in Africa that uses its own Alphabet until now, and the Ethiopian Alphabet was invented more than three-thousand years ago. Please tell me what Ethiopia esoterically represents in the Bible. Yilma Wako from the USA, though born and grew up in Ethiopia.

God told me, when I asked why I was born a girl, that no man could ever hold the attention of a man the way a woman can. Being born in an Italian home , I didn't understand what he meant because the men in my life didn't listen to women at all. LOL. Now,.. seeing the form of the body God put me in .. I begin to understand what he meant. He said I look the way I do because he needs me to be witnessed. .. so I exist to get man to look ..to get them to listen.

Thank You Gina - I Truly appreciate Your post & I Truly get what you mean. I too exist to get man to look & to listen. I’m very respectful as I do this. God has gifted me with energy that helps stabilize the man’s aggressive nature and help/remind them to get in touch with the gentleness that resides within them. God helps me help man get back to flow & grow. Being sensitive & gentle & respectful & humble is a beautiful gift. Thank you GoD

The problem with Israel is to be rooted on this world not recognizing nor seeing the right ways to be. Being humble is not being a coward but modest and simple. Being brave and just is not associated to being humble. This is what keep Israel alone. God Is not there

"Bittul" ❤ Thanks Rabbi for the talks and teachings... I wonder if there is a correlation between similar philosophies like the Buddhist Bodhisattva. Thank you for such educational content! Namaste Rabbi! 🙏
