Fact is immediately having the child Diana knew she wasn’t a mixed child and unless she had been sleeping with many black men which I doubt than she new immediately the child was Berry Gordy it’s just that Berry was married so she kept his secret until he got divorced. She would complain to Gordy to have them removed. Gladys Knight stated that she and the Pips were on tour with supremes and was out shinning Diana. Diana calls Berry Gody and has them taken off the tour. In another incident, Diana ross wears another artist's dress so that they can't perform. The artist complains to Berry Gordy and he says to leave Diana alone. The other performers were told to not outperform Diana. Diana was not the lead singer of the supremes until she started an affair with Gordy and a songwriter at Motown. She performed in three movies for Gordy, Mahogany, lady sings the blues and the wiz due to an affair with Gordy. Gordy and ross even had a child together. She has as much talent as Marilyn Monroe, But both slept their way to fame. No Respect!

It's fascinating that this could still be of any interest to people 50 years later. But, as pointed out, he was married part of the time and she was his "star." A "star" who was sleeping with the boss in 1971 (and then subsequently becoming pregnant with his child) would not have been looked on favorably. Berry Gordy, Jr came from a family of business owners, record producers (sisters Gwen and Anna). The early Motown was made up of Berry's family, 8 siblings! Gordy himself wrote a book called "To Be Loved" (1996) also, the money amount is mentioned in "Berry, Me and Motown" (1990) by Raynoma Gordy Singleton, who Berry married in the late fifties. Any one alive during the early days, knows about the $800.00 from family members....they had the money to give! This is not opinion, it is fact....people who weren't alive at the time are spreading misinformation.

I believe Barry loved Diana but sometimes the timing is just off. I like hearing him declare his love for Diana because they have a daughter and she needs to know she was conceived in love. Times were different back then and Diana wanted her child to be born in a legitimate marriage!! Good for both of them.

Then there was songwriter Brian Holland, although married as well, who admits in his book that he was in love with her. There have been many men at Motown who liked (or LOVED) Miss Ross.
