I just discover your channel and I'm watching all the videos. Thanks for all the work. If you can build any room from scratch up to 100m2 what dimensions will you choose? Should I look at the bolt-area?

And if I can add another criteria the height of the room should be not bigger than 3 meters.

It depends on how much money you have for acoustics. If you can build a Philip Newell style studio then the acoustics will take care of many of the modal issues. If you can only afford fabric wrapped insulation then I recommend using the ratios as a guide. Don’t get obsessed though. In the end the models are based on infinitely reflective walls which is impossible. So use it as just a starting point.

I’ve watched a lot of acoustic fields videos. Not taking the push of their products or the guys past into account, do the fundamental ideas about low frequency management presented on that channel have any merit? Not trying to stir anything up, just see a lot of static on the internet about the concepts in his videos being bogus. You’re one of the only other channels that has stood behind insulation not really absorbing low frequencies all that well.

He is right that a absorption system built into the walls in the ceiling that incorrect incorporates diaphragmatic absorption will help with the low end. I personally am more interested in Philip Newell approach more than acoustic fields because of the massive cost difference. All this said there is a true gap between the DIY studio, and the multimillion dollar studios of the past, I think we have to find a middle ground as best as we can unless we’re willing to spend tons and tons of money acoustically treating our rooms. That is where I’m landing after doing this for years and thinking about it obsessively.
