we all go through a journey. Mine was from low proof to high proof and now back to low proof. Blanton's was loved, ignored, and now loved again. Full circle.
The friendliest people I have met have been bourbon enthusiasts and dog lovers. I love being apart of my bourbon groups for how kind we are to each other. Side note I’ve only had the “normal” Blanton’s and I love it. I’ve had other bourbons but that Blanton’s is special.
I really appreciate you bringing up the Price/Proof difference with Blanton’s for similarly costed bottles. The most popular bottles for $60ish (1920, Rare Breed, Knob Creek SiB) are all 115-120 proof. Blanton’s is a great premium bourbon for people that don’t love higher proofs. Whenever I have people over, I always like to offer Blanton’s because it is a great pour that almost everyone will enjoy, even the people not as big into bourbon.
I love the video tactic Randy. Also, I am a follower for many years of your content and found comfort in your show philosophy (which I was actually tell my girlfriend about the other night when I was catching up on videos, specifically the Randy is back video). You created a very special BRT Community and I also really appreciate that it is “troll free.” Thanks for all the interesting content. Cheers!
I love your heart for people and your love for whiskey bro! I was drawn to the content because I’m a history nerd and I love that aspect of whiskey and what you bring to the table. I was then drawn to your community because of your passion and mission to bring people together. Strong stuff !
Watch the channel all the time and look to you for your insights on different brands. I appreciate all involved and love consuming the content, your mission is what this world needs right now, connections though common interests.
Buffalo Trace heads are absolute geniuses at marketing Blanton's. It's a 100% marketable bourbon. Cool grenade bottle, collectable toppers with different letters to seek out, and the liquid inside is pretty decent. If it was in a plain wine type bottle and a normal cork stopper, it would be just like any other 93 proof shelf sitter.
It’s was actually the internet that drove the popularity. Up until the early 00’s it was in literally any major liquor store and it was about $30-$35, or about a handle of Jack Daniel’s. It’s a great bourbon, but the $70 they want now is just price gouging.
No doubt, Blanton's is good. It's fun to spot the bottles in media. Never tried Straight from the Barrel. I'd love to find some of these bags. That black one is awesome. More importantly, thank you for the platform of connection that you have given. This community has celebrated things with me, and I have seen them grieve things together as well. That's the best in the world for sure.
I love the full transparency. You hit the nail on the head about whiskey. I got into it for the community aspect. I've been able to meet so many amazing people because of it.
Great show as always! I loved the idea of title hype! I just can't imagine the response of people with regard to the title. The content of your shows have always been quite interesting. I always find myself enjoying them. I hope that you'll always be able to share them with us. Always remember, if you woke up this morning wondering if anyone loved you, just know that we all love you. May our prayers be with Shawn, his family, and his friends. 🙏 May our good Lord rest his soul. 🙏
Excellent segue into the "real" content. Always enjoy your work, this one hit especially close to home for a new member of the whiskey community who has taken it WAAAaaay too far (Monetarily, not intoxication) but the connection makes it all worthwhile.
I always enjoy listening to your views. As always, historical and educational content are most appreciated. I have also realized everyone has their own unique pallet. Those bourbons like Angel’s Envy are mine.
Some people aren't happy unless they're complaining about something behind a keyboard. I, personally, love Blanton's. Yes I dig the flavor and story. BUT, I'm in a relationship at a local shop where I can get it any day, all day for 10% over msrp. For that, I enjoy it even more taking a fresh bottle out among friends that may have rarely, if ever, had it. The smiles, excitement and subsequent conversation that comes out the rest of the evening is what it's about. I'll often use a regular shelfer to really show em that there as good or even better stuff they can get everyday. All about the experience.
Randy, thank you for this content. I always enjoy your honesty, truth and transparency in everything you present to the bourbon community. I live in Allen Tx and would love to meet you and your wife someday. Take care, Mark
I'm up in Canada where I'm starting my second year into the whiskey world. Started with Scotch and now Bourbon. I subscribe for the education that you provide in your content. Unfortunately up here we do not have the variety of I would like. I did get my hand on a bottle of Blanton's and my wife loves it more than the others I have bought so I but way at the back on the liquor shelf...lol.
You noticed. We made those custom bags when we got a SiB for my whiskey club Someone Say Whiskey. We thought it would be cooler than a tater sticker. (which doesn't really work on a Blanton's bottle)
Love the content and the aroma kit. I must admit that I enjoy spirits for the flavor and am not on my whiskey journey for the social aspects. My wife and I have fun learning about and trying different spirits from various distilleries, and we really like visiting the distilleries. Keep up the great content.
The fact you had to make a video like this is so sad. I hate people that have nothing better to do than to spread hate online. Like you said, people have different tastes. My husband and I personally love Blanton’s. It’s one of our favorite bottles on the shelf and the first allocated bottle we were able to get. Now we have the gold and SFTB too! I love all your informative videos. I’ve learned a ton from these over the course of this year. Please keep them up!
Love the video, and yeah, people are too quick to comment without watching or listening to what the message actually is! However, Blanton's to me is more about celebration or sentimental with close family and friends cause of how hard it is to find.
Love your content, your honesty, and you as a genuine human being! There are so many different bourbons and other whiskey styles...so if you don't like what others drink...no need to bash it...just pick up a different bottle! Cheers!
Just when I thought that I could never get a George T Stagg, you're saying all I need to do is let you sell my house? Kidding, not kidding. I had kind of drifted away from your channel, but was reminded by some great guys in the "Someone say whiskey" community, I even had someone give me a sample of the Prideful Goat 15 (Just WOW) Great content and I love the positivity.
Wow I love the hook of this video. And I always loved the positiveness of your channel. There are a number of good bourbon channels but there's something special about what you do. By the way I did get a chance to taste Blanton's it was good but I agree with all the people that say it certainly not worth the hype
Another awesome video and I agree that whiskey is very much about the connections made with people. I’ve met some amazing people especially in the last couple of years because of the whiskey community. Anyway keep up the good work and the good fight.
When did Blanton's baggies look like Star Wars logos?!😯 Sharing with new whiskey's folks, Blanton's comes out as a favorite. Blanton's used to sell out within a few days. It's starting to remain on the shelves around here at about $80. Seems like there is more inventory now.
You noticed. We made those custom bags when we got a SiB for my whiskey club Someone Say Whiskey. We thought it would be cooler than a tater sticker. (which doesn't really work on a Blanton's bottle)
I'm not signing up for the giveaway this time, because of the three I've already tasted two - the Gold is the only thing I've not had. I really enjoyed the Straight From the Barrel, and if I could find it easily, and it ran $50-60, I'd buy it now and again when I could. But regular Blanton's just doesn't impress me - there's stuff I like a lot more, and can find and afford much more easily. It's not bad, not a-tall, but in my judgment it's just good bourbon, nothing more. Obviously YMMV. 🙂

@@BourbonRealTalk I think I'm more envious of those than anything in your collection 😂 l Love your mission and what you bring to the community. Thank you and team for all you do!
Hater’s gonna Hate Tatters gonna Potate. 🥔 🥃 Blanton’s is great! It’s a victim of its own success. It’s Not Just a pretty bottle. Or people would buy it once, and Never again. Aka Willet Potstill 😮. You might have bought one but never again.
It is surprising that you think I didn't see it coming when I anticipated it and gave a disclaimer about the very thing people were doing in the comments. I guess I am just weird in that I would never make a negative comment on a video I didn't watch.
@@BourbonRealTalk I’m confused… my comment was referring to the Blanton’s blind video…so you saw that reaction coming from that Blanton’s blind video and then decided to make this video as a rebuttal anyway?
Blantons is good but not amazing. I have blinded Blantons against John J Bowman and John J always wins. It’s not totally fair as John J is higher proof, but price at retail is close and they are SB.
