Description: BMW riders get a secret confidence boost from the GS telelever suspension. I'd heard of it but never seen it in practice so in this video I will show you a side by side comparison. See a GS 1250 with telelever suspension and what happens when you pull the front brake, and then see the 850 without telelever...the nose dives. Let me know if you have any questions.

Love the telelever! When trail braking it allows loading traction on the front without changing the steering geometry, when doing emergency stops, it is much easier to maintain directional control. Offroad downhill is so much easier. Was coming down about 12 miles of icy roads last weekend in one of the mountain canyons and this was a huge boon. While still stressful and slow, it was much more doable. I am a year-round rider in Colorado, so the GS is a huge advantage. There are plenty of bikes it can be done on, the GS is in my view the safest and most capable.

My favorite Brit on a bike! Again great video with a good working knowledge for rider safety... I'm looking at the new 2024 F800gs. So, I guess, it's still the old fashion front end dip for me....

So what happens as you lean into a turn and hit a bump mid corner while on the brakes? Does it push out or pull in

Thank you! I'm about to make my licence and while I get in formed on a potential bike to buy , youtubers just mention " #`´%#lever -##§`pension reduce nosedive" in a half sentence , with no explaination and no way to look it up as you can't understand what they are saying if you don't allready know the word . Then I found youtuber s showing theat they are basically just a divided wheel suspension... what we would consider in a car a "proper" wheel suspension vs a cheap McPhearson suspension... Yet that still didn't show whats so good about the telelever except that it is less on the McPhearson suspension side and more on the proper suspension side if viewed from a car enthusiast perspective. This Video is the only onw I found , so far that shows the stunning difference in practice , in an obvious way to see. THANK YOU again. Do we only get GS es with that suspension? Because...well I mean how often would a GS actually be used in the "G" of the GS ? I would like to have a pure "S" bike with that kind of feature.

Had a 2016 12GS.. I liked the telelever front end for all the reasons you highlighted, but hated it off road. The front end always felt vague and ready to wash out. Very disconcerting! Supposedly, the new system on the 1300 has alleviated some of that…

Hi. For any other bike surely the best thing is to put thick oil in the front shocks. I think I would prefer slower action on the front shocks than standard.

That's one big bike. Now lets go a little lighter. With your influence and power, how about trying to test ride the Kove 450 Rally? Since you own a KTM Rally bike it would be good to hear what you think of the Kove. If you can test ride a Kove, will place you on my Xmas card list......

I like the stable telever in ABS mode. But in cornering I miss front wheel feeling massively. That's why I didn't buy a BMW HP2 Sport, but an Aprilia Tuono V4 1100. By the way: The Bimota Tesi's system worked a lot better on the race track. Cheers, Günter/Nürnberg

Been riding Bmw bikes since i was 26, always like the way they handled and they got better over the years, my first telelever suspension was my R1150RT, the braking was far better as it didnt dive, also heavy cornering, the suspension didnt dive and you could corner quicker and you could leave your braking later and still corner safely, quite a lot of bikers on normal forked bikes couldnt get used to it.

But I like the nose dive. LOL. Nose dive is good when you're going over a downed tree, for example, Brake right before the obstacle, dive, then fork bounces up & throttle up, and the front is nice an light and over the top you go. But in fairness I guess bikes like these aren't meant for that sort of thing.
