Something about girl group dances (particularly light, cute, innocent, etc) too is that while they usually don't look the most difficult, they are usually *technicallly* more advanced than most boy group choreos. A dance doesn't have to look difficult to be difficult and I think this is something a lot of boy group stans don't understand. Fast and aggressive dancing =/= difficult. This is often true of the cuter dances for boy groups too, which is interesting to think about why cuter concepts tend to have easier looking but technically advanced choreos.

This was a VERY real video. I've been a BTS stan for three years, and they've honestly introduced me into the whole K-Pop industry, so they're always going to be my favorite group. I agree with you on how just boy group stans can be crazy at times. After I stanned BTS, I learned of girl groups and started stanning them too, and it's been great seeibg such diverse themes and concepts made by differenr groups!

okay, but like, one thing that's super terrible about boy group stans is.... they're one of the big reasons there's 'no dating' policies. the reason boys can't date or be in love is because the girls feel like they're betrayed and they hate the women they date, and just feel this absolute ownership over their love lives. the girls' reasons are often more like... 'sexuality is bad and you're impure', but people don't flip out if a girl in a group has a crush.

I got into kpop like 5 years ago and I was a boy group only stan at first. I had the misconception that girly/feminine concepts were all cute. Then I discovered 2ne1 and saw how talented they are and finally started branching into the other girl groups out there and I’m at the point now where I love girl groups just as much as boy groups. I’m still not super fond of cute concepts and am definitely biased toward girl crush concepts, and I admit that I don’t stan girl groups that do primarily cute concepts. But what I’ve realized is that I’m the same way about boy groups. I don’t like cute concepts for any group, it’s not my style. So even when a boy group I stan super hard does a cute concept from time to time, I just don’t listen to it and wait for their next comeback. Members of boy and girl groups trained hard to get where they are and they all work so hard, we should respect them all, even if we prefer some concepts over others.

Non-open style* girl group dances are actually just as hard as boy group dances, I hate it when non-dancers say they're not; they are seriously hard to do well because girl group "idol dancing" is a style created within the kpop industry and therefore can only be taught by people in the kpop industry, the technique for it is really different from open style stuff and afaik contemporary stuff as well. *An umbrella term for styles previously refered to as "urban," including for example hip-hop, popping, krumping and many more.

I've always just had more of a liking to girl group songs then boy group songs but I still do like both. Like if you enjoy only girl group songs because that's just the sound you prefer that's fine. Same thing goes for boy group stans. But if you take it too far and start hating just because a group is a of a specific gender then that's when you need to stop. Also co-ed bands are great.
actually for a trained dancer alot of gg dancer are harder. Once you are basically trained all those fast popping dances get easy after a bit of practise.

It’s fine to like BGs better than GGs or vice versa as long as you don’t go throwing hate to other groups, BG or GG. I like both, but I Stan more BGs than GGs. It’s ok to dislike a concept as long as you’re respectful about it.
on the matter of dances for ggs being easy, the thing is, bg dances LOOK super hard and take a lot of stamina to learn, no questions asked, they're usually easier to learn than gg ones bc for gg if you make ONE wrong move you can't get into the song again bc everything works into each other. bg dances look super impressive but they are usually easier to learn bc if you forget a move or get out of it you can get into the rhythm of the dance and into the dance steps again which isn't as easy to say of gg dances bc the movements often build up on the previous movement which makes it look graceful and super pretty and ggs learn long to perfect those moves (not saying bgs don't perfect the moves). gg dances are focused on fluidity and gracefulness which is really hard to achieve and bg dances are focused on jumps and stuff like that
