My uncle just switched to OnePlus 11R from J7 2015, after using it for 8.5 years. Only battery and software support for apps was the problem but really, I can't expect today's phones to last so long, especially when brands have decided to slow down their devices after a period.
@@redboss6044 Battety life has significantly dropped over these years, now like 4:30hrs of SoT. Overnight drain of about 5% with all apps installed. Performance is as same as the day I unboxed the phone in 2015, for the system UI and applications. With 3rd party application some oblivious jitters are seen (RU-vid, Instagram, X) most important, Play Store after 31st September 2023 is no longer responsive, I think some graphic driver issue (incompatibility) after Play store's update. Play store opens about scrolling and navigation in the apps takes ages, installing an app is a nightmare now (after 30th Sep 2023) before that it was buttery smooth, also I've read a couple of articles that Play store is lagging on a majority of Exynos based devices recently.
I have a samsung M10s which i brought for ₹8,999 only and using it for 4 years but it has amoled display, which we can't get today in this price segment and the camera is also good it beats some of the realme and redmi phones in night photography
The problem is also the hardware support. I recently went to get battery replaced on OnePlus 8 Pro, the official service center refused to service as they no longer provide hardware support for that phone, they provide hardware support only for 2 years. EU is putting pressure for hardware support too, let’s hope it gets better

@@crazyylife not as much as you may think coz I don't play games or anything heavy...I have one Android device too So If I charge the phone overnight which i usually do then by 5 pm I have to charge again at about 20%
My phone is almost 6 years old and is running the latest Android 14 smoothly! As fast as it ran from Android 10 (when I installed the first rom on it!).... Custom rom is really a blessing for phones from laggy, bulky & poorly developed original OSes....

But what companies forget is, For eg: I have samsung m30s with 4 year of updates, which I was really happy. The next phone I choose will be of samsung as well due to the confidence that the company will keep it updated. Thats the game pixel is trying to play

Mere Moto G82 5g me Android 13 ka update aye hai 2 months ho chuke hai maine abhi tak update nahi kiya hai green line issue ke karan most of the devices like g52 and g82 me green line issue aa rahe hai update ka fayda hi kya hai aise hi chalana padega
I am using redmi 9 prime from last 2.5 years but I have not seen any issues like battery drain issue, slow performance. Redmi 9 prime run on Android 12 & miui 13
heating issues are only on mtk phones even within 3 4 month a patch will come out to fix heating issue, using edge 30 ultra for a year now and it's beast even got many camera updates as well
@@ShivBalram yup that one have the issue but you can try to use 4g maybe that will resolve this issue little , idk i always skips mtk new chipset for a reason

A technical reason is also there, To send an update on a 5 YO phone, the engineering effort is high, development, Testing, Validations etc. And the ROI is not a-lot, cause a very small number of users are using that device.
Google actually did promise 7 years of OS/android updates (along with security updates & feature drops). Not sure why you think it may only be 4 to 5 years.
Mera S21 fe 4yrs OS update and 5yrs security update abhi 2yrs hone wala hai launch ka mtlb abhi bhi 3 saal kam se kam chala paunga..aur 1 saal ho gya total 4 minimum
Custom roms ke vjha se old mobile kbhe old nahi hota Tabhe to realme ne bootloader unlock service off kar de Redmi kafi days ka wating time dete hai Or kafi sari companiya kernel source code nahi dete take custom rom na ban ske 😡
@@unknownymous2955 Initially it had heating issues but now after applying some settings heating is gone. In gaming it's heating but I'm not playing games Not recommend for gaming!

Do you even realize Google is a software company first and develops Android. Plus, unlike other brands, they do not release hundreds of new models every year which makes it easier for them to work on the existing devices. They have an excellent track record of providing monthly security update till promised date.
i am using mi a1 since laungh in bangladesh 2017 it lags.. really if they give some android update to my phone it could make my phone speddy again :( i am very poor to buy another one
@@ninii394 yea I'm using for 2 years it as primary and only phone all UPI apps and banking apps working fine. Sometimes there is issue with rooted Android but fixes are everywhere.
They dont give more updates because in every update battery health and processor capabilities decreases example apple ye bat khud manta h ki update k sath phone slow hoga
