Why Browns fans should never forgive Art Modell - Comedian Brian Kenny 

Yes, he definitely got greedy. However, Mayor White and Al Lerner are certainly responsible. Not that they are the main perpetrators. Unfortunately for Modell, he didn’t have a fallback to make money. That wasn’t the city’s fault, but Mike White was still reactive, not proactive. He was not a “White Knight”, either. Also, Lerner, was a responsible party.

1) Baltimore tried everything when the colts left to Indianapolis. From attempting to start new franchises, to vetoing the move of the colts in the first place. There was no momentum at all. It was a last resort. 2) the colts left in the middle of the night in secret, browns did a similar thing but it wasn’t as bad. The colts owner lied to the public and employed frat houses in the middle of the night to move the equipment on busses and gtfo. Baltimore woke up with no team and no warning. At least you guys got a little bit of a warning. Sure it was still scummy how it all went down but it could’ve been worse. 3) Baltimore was classy enough to make it a new franchise. We had the opportunity to take it all. Names colors championships, and we started from scratch. The colts took everything and even erected a statue of Unitas outside of their stadium. All Colts everything was completely stripped from Baltimore. 4) it was expansion time. The nfl was all over expansions at the time. The Jacksonville Jaguars, the Houston Texans. If there was ever a time to lose a team with hopes of getting a new one it’s the 90s. And of course you didn’t have to wait long at all. With Art Modell’s help, something I rarely see browns fans remember, the browns were gifted a new team only 3 years after the move. 3 years is all that it took. Sure it was uncertain how long it would’ve been, but what is the point of holding such a grudge for 3 years of no play? Especially since the man who you blame it all on worked with his best friend and your hero to get the team back? Want to know how long it took Baltimore? 13 years. And remember they moved in 83, expansions were not on the table, and team moves were rare. There was no hope, but by some miracle it happened and the ravens were born. No I’ll offer a silver lining. Modell was a bad business man, and made some stupid decisions and almost ruined your chances of football in Cleveland forever. However, it was only a three year wait, and he helped you get a new team. And you cannot blame him on the browns sucking for over 20 years. I’ll give you like 5 seasons. But all is fine now. You finally have some momentum in really the first time ever in your history with Baker Mayfield, who is by all accounts an insanely good qb. And it seems like you are finally taking the Steelers place for AFC North division contenders. As a ravens fan I respect your franchise and am excited for the rivalry that is too come in the following years.

It not the people of Baltimore it the Political leaders of the city and Art Modell is the blame

I can understand the betrayal of Art Modell, but he was also gypped.

The problem is the NFL forced him out of his Baltimore ownership too; he just couldn’t find a way to make money when literally everybody else could.
