That's a great point about the "dust" system. It's going to tell Erik how many boxes got cracked vs how many are being horded. That should be an invaluable tool in adjusting print runs. Erik and his team are doing everything right IMHO.

It's just people having FOMO, and they will naturally think it is too expensive, but the beta will have almost each and every card alpha has. I think I am more of a collector than a player as well, but that is not by choice, I live in Norway and there simply isn't that many players around, I need to get my friends and family to get interested. So I preordered the beta precon, a mat and a few boxes that I'll crack, so I have enough to get a few decks going so I can get my friends interested in playing it as well. I think certain cards will still be high in price during and especially after beta mainly because of new cards, but this is something that is hard to predict as it will mainly be decided by printing numbers and the new art. I think I'll be both though, both a collector and a player, I don't have a single alpha card, but I'll be starting to collect the beta when it arrives. :) The prices for alpha isn't necessarily gonna stand in the near future either, they might drop drastically after the beta releases, and then we'll see it increase naturally over the years if Sorcery gains more traction and remains popular, making even beta worth it both for players aaand collectors. What I am mostly eager to see is the set after beta, The Arthurian (was it "Chronicles?") I don't remember right now. At that point we will see if the game can establish a stable structure and balance while still utilizing on its unique playstyle with the elements and land strategies we have seen so far, and this will also be an important pinnacle as to see the survivability of the game itself, it will most likely be a crucial time for Sorcery of will or will not. (I have a strong gut feeling it will survive.) I don't care about missing out, I wasn't there for the kickstarter, and I wouldn't even been able to buy into it at that specific time as I didn't have the money to spend anyways, I think a lot of people have the wrong mindset with these things, it is easy to let these TCG's become more of an obsession than a hobby, and that's not good for the people it involves. Buying an alpha box is from my perspective just gambling at this point, unless you have the money to spare of course and a genuine interest, which very few have. So yes, I agree, just wait for beta, it's not long now. Oh, and sorry for the long essay, I tend to write a lot. So if that offended anyone, I am not sorry. XD

I think Eric was more focused on art than game play, even though the game play is really good. That he realized there were issues and he went back and took a hard look at fine tuning the game mechanics is a good sign.

Hello mate great insight into the game. What is your opinion on keeping hold of alpha pre cons? I know boxes are rocketing in price but not seen much insight into future value of the pre cons.

40,000 to 50,000 boxes is a better print run for Beta. Now when they do revised they can kick up the run a bit once players actually start playing.

monarch at its low is still like 50 percent over msrp ^^ for metazoo, already the 2nd ed broke and overflooded the market. also it came waay to late, lots of players back then already left after not being able to get any cards. now even the 1st ed cards not even get sold. Fab did very well at keeping cards rare next to them being very affordable and available. Keep in mind, the unlimited of monarch got released as well shortly after. still the cf Ls are veeery high valued cards, jfyi :P Lets get back to topic, veeeeery excited for Beta!! Theyre already smart bringing it in different waves watching how demand is gonna be. ✌
