Idk know if y’all know this but Harrison butker has the second best field goal percentage in history, and he is only behind tucker. Ain’t no way we would trade him.
I agree that kickers should be treated as important given how much influence they have on the game, but if you look at the NFL as a whole, they historically don't give a damn about kickers. Sure, Tucker is amazing and I think he is worth any contract he gets. But you don't see kickers getting selected in the draft and you don't hear them talked about much, unless it's to crap on them. At least in my opinion.
Kickers value is increasing more and more. Like a quarter of games are decided by 3 points or less. The last 3 years the super bowl has been decided by 3 points. There are more close games and more scoring and it's important to have a good kicker. I'm a Seahawks fan and in 2017 our kicker outright cost us 3 different games. We finished 9-7 and missed the playoffs.
Without Harrison Butker there would have been no back to back Super Bowl Champion's. While the offense was figuring it out and the defense was holding opponents offense to very little points... Harrison Butker was kicking field goal 's, putting points on the board!! Harrison kicked all the points on the board in one of the winning games. I'm so glad he's on the Chiefs. He's a great player and a great man.

If we took the Constitution at it's words (which I'm certain folks like you do NOT), we would limit guns (for instance) to only people in 'well regulated militias', and we wouldn't be acting all disingenuous about what those words ACTUALLY mean, not what we 'feel' they should mean because we want guns. Even with this very conservative/Republican court, they have said that there can and should be SOME limits on what weapons the general public can have. Yet, for many who aren't just gun-owners or even 'enthusiasts', but the actual gun-nuts, that is still 'wrong'. But is it? Because the LAW has stated one thing (limits, as few as they are) and the people that want mentally ill folks and domestically violent people to have guns have their feeling hurt. By your standard, those are just feelings though, and if they own a gun that goes beyond what was set down in Heller (for example), they need to take those feelings and pay the price for breaking the law. Similarly, one current major party nominee has been convicted of 34 legal counts of law breaking. You are entirely behind those convictions, right? Because a jury of his own (by way of his legal representation) was gathered and found him guilty after his many legal days in court. Everybody whining now needs to stop because the law has decided he was guilty, the way we decide everybody else's guilt or innocent in this country (and he actually got away with behavior most defendants do NOT). The media does. And they will twist and twist the life out of any irrelevant thing to make someone who doesn’t share their personal beliefs look bad, even if they did absolutely nothing wrong (like Butker)
I think multiple things can be true…. 1.) Butker didnt break any laws and can say what he wants but that doesnt disclose him from people disagreeing. 2.) It was a graduation ceremony, yes catholic but Is that really a time and place to talk political policies and his beliefs? I mean, to me doesnt feel like it should be. The speech should be encouraging and not continue the point he made about “Staying in your lane.” 3.) Yes it was a catholic school and a majority agreed, I did hear not everyone agreed but majority. 4.) Anything anyone says people will disagree/agree with. It’s about what each individual believes. But clearly there are more main stream society beliefs.
I think the point was that we aren't allowed to disagree with the media perception of what is "correct" otherwise it's -ist or -phobe. These guys literally break the law and don't get much flak for it from the media but man, give a speech about traditional values and all hell breaks loose.

M_Baker, it is society in general...small groups can sometimes be 'louder', but this was not some 'small group', it was a large chunk of the country, including nuns who live and work AT THE SCHOOL. We all can say what we want, but the notion that ALL speech is 'free' is misguided at best. Free from governmental intervention (unless in Floriduh), yes. But free from blowback at work or home or the park or in a bar? Not even close. People still being surprised that social media might not go the way they want it is what surprises me... We are all 'on the clock' all day, everyday, at this point. Anything we say can and probably will be used against us in the court of public opinion. We had a president (and may again) who admitted to groping (so, sexually assaulting them) with impunity and he got elected after people knew that. How the public perceives and deals with public statements or actions can change (and does, constantly). That is just how things are, and have been for quite a while.
