Why canoes in the Old Town, Maine area 

This presentation tells the history of canoes in the Old Town, Maine area. It is focused on how the Old Town, Maine area became one of the canoe capitals of the world. This opens with the native Penobscots who started making bark canoes in that area a few thousand years ago and quickly moves to the huge canoe fad in the late 1800s and early 1900s. It traces the small boat market’s evolution to from canoes to motorboats and then to kayaks today. It was recorded at the 2023 Antique Boat Show at the Antique Boat Museum in Clayton, New York.
