So much negativity in the comments for Carol Danvers. She’s not a bad character, it’s just the fact that writers cannot quite figure out what to do with her. Bendis seemed to do the most damage to her recently with Civil War 2. But lately Jason Aaron is one of the couple of writers that seems to have figured out what to with her. I’m actually excited for Captain Marvel in the MCU. I want her to be Co-Leader of the New Avengers with Black Panther.

Because Marvel's "Wonder Women" are all in the X-Men... screw Carol Danvers I hope Rogue puts her back where we all fondly remember her.

I think Captain Marvel/ Carol Danvers was the obvious choice for Marvel to make their top female character after the way they had built her up during the early 00s. She had become the most prominent & strongest female character that I can think of on the New & Mighty Avengers. The name & outfit change was probably for marketing purposes more than anything else.

This is a stretch but you know who I would have pushed? Thor and loki's long lost sister from the heaven relm Angela. I know she wasn't always marvel but the moment they got rights to her she would have been perfect to push cause she had a lot of power already. C'mon she use to go toe to toe with spawn.

To be honest it's time for a change for comic books because there are so many characters that are out shadowed by the older characters like Batman and superman who have been around for decades i think that it's time for comics to start retiring older characters for new ones to replace them and come up with new villians. One reason they haven't is of older fans that don't like change. Look at the MCU due to aging stars they have to change who is leading the next phase.

The problem is that all of the strong female characters in Marvel are in the X-Men. The X-Men has no shortage. Storm, Rogue, Jean Grey, Kitty Pryde, and Psylocke are all great characters and I'm sure there's some others as well.

They forgot one robin to say could be on the list from the dark knight comic and forgot the second best baat family member ace the bat hound.

The MCU should totally make a Gwenpoole movie, it would be like "The Last Action Hero" of the MCU and would work well with concepts in the comic like plot armor, omniscience do to an outside perspective, exploiting and pointing out stereotypes and tropes for laughs, and even breaking the forth wall literally by entering or exiting the movie via some kind of portal.

The original Captain Mar-Vell is my favorite superhero so it makes me sad.

About Rogue as Captain Marvel, or the new female face for Marvel, beyond what you said it'd be much worse than Carol. Like yes Carol's history was a tad convoluted(but they've essentially retconned all of it) but Rogue was a large part of that history, it's after she gets raped and booted out of the Avengers(because that's how you treat victims old school Marvel) that's when Rogue attacked her and got her powers nearly killing her. Before that, as I know you know because I learned it from yours or Benny's videos, Rogue was a villain. Like a straight up villain. Not a good one either she was pretty ridiculous. There would be so much to explain if you made Rogue the new Captain Marvel, and it would look SO BAD. Carol deserves better. When you look at Carol through the eyes of someone like Kamala she's a fantastic character, and I wouldn't want her any other way(well aside from getting a better solo book, like not on Alpha Flight, but she maybe has that now).

I don't mind Carol Danvers as a character but I would prefer it if they went with the actual comic book history and didn't try to make their own thing. I think if she was closer to how she was in Avengers: Mightiest Heroes then people wouldn't show as much hate. Compare Spider-Man and Black Panther to Captain Marvel based on accuracy and I think I see why people complain about her. Also the fact that some of them just don't like the idea of a woman lead.

There's a *lot* of things wrong with Captain Marvel. But I'd say the main problem is that Marvel keeps pushing her. They're trying to make her the new face of Marvel, just like how Spiderman is. But the difference between Spiderman & Captain Marvel is that Spiderman *earned* his way to being the face of Marvel, he was appealing to young readers for decades, he is literally one of, if not THE most popular superhero of all time. Captain Marvel on the other hand isn't as grand & great as Marvel likes to think she is. Most of her runs get cancelled, she's infamous in the comics, and her movie has the most controversy out of any MCU movie. It's pretty clear that she's not a good contender for "face of Marvel", yet they keep pushing it. I'd say the only reason Marvel is pushing her in such a way is because they don't have that "Wonder Woman" in their brand. They have amazing female characters, but most of them are either team players (Invisible Woman, Storm, etc) or just female versions of male titles (Spider-Gwen, She-Hulk, etc). Captain Marvel is really the closest thing they have, but she's a shit character. But they decide to not put in any effort, they just put her on a pedestal and shout "Look! We have a strong leading woman as well! Isn't this cool?!"

Captain Marvel? You mean Monica Rambeau? I felt the Carol Danvers run was convoluted and yet still bland and lacking in any real depth (aside from negative experiences and emotions). Monica, on the other hand, was mentally strong, had emotional depth and earned leadership (through storytelling) of the Avengers. If I'm to use one of these women to act as a role model for my daughters, it's not going to be the arrogant, cold, and distant Carol Danvers. It's going to be the tempered, learned, and selfless Monica Rambeau.

Well if they're counting Huntress and Zatanna, there's no reason not to include Black Canary as a member of the Bat Family: She has helped train Batgirl, Orphan and Spoiler, helped the Bat Family defend Gotham during several major storylines, such as the Battle for the Cowl, and also becomes one of Batman's closest allies during both Injustice and Kingdom Come. Batman also seems to have a large amount of respect for her, as seen by his decision to ask her to lead The Justice League of America when he reformed the group at the start of Rebirth.

I'm annoyed that the list didn't have David Zavimbe, the original batwing. He was really interesting, especially because he lived in the Dominican Republic of the Congo, so a more rural area, rather than an more urban/city area.

Marvel has never had a shortage of strong female characters, they've just had a shortage of solo series for them, and now there's more food/talking about food than action in the solo series they do have.

Carol Danvers was great when she was Ms Marvel, Binary and Warbird but since she has become Captain Marvel they've ruined her character.

The entire Captain Marvel situation just had me thinking "Jane Foster". Her run got a lot of hate but I loved it, and I loved her. I really liked Thor's finding himself arc, A lot of people are anxious about if he can be written into a new version of his old self cause his character's been taking some hits according to some. But her as Thor was heroic and awesome. She was an amazing female hero. She wasn't really defined by Thor, she just got her Hammer and became the hero she probably dreamed of being after years on the sideline. I love that. For Thor's part it's shown that he's sorta defined by his hammer and he's working through that. That's sort of interesting. She would be a great female character to keep fleshing out. Also in a way her relationship with Thor is like a better version of what I found interesting about Carol. Like, i like Mar-Vell as an origin story. This lady found this alien super hero, then got his powers. It's kind of like a "What if Lois Lane got superman's powers?" in a way. It's neat to think about. Jane Foster did it better.

To be honest Carol is only pushed because her name has Marvel in it. To be really honest if they had the rights to Storm at the time she would have been the woman they pushed. Now I do like Carol Pre-Civil War 2. I just think Marvel did to Carol what they did to Tony Stark durning his Civil War. The only difference here is incels, sexist and ALT right types are more prevalent and voical over the internet now then they were back then. Carol also hasn't had a good writer for her solo books in years. To me want Carol to sell give her back to Brian Reed, or give her to Al Edwing. Especially Al Edwing what he does when he writes her Ultimates, Ultimates2 and in Immortal Hulk.

I think it's funny how at the end they mentioned multiple different times that a character has passed on a mantle but didn't correlate it to the Captain Marvel topic. Top 5 "people who work with Batman" number 5: Harvey dent before he became 2 face (animated serious incarnation) best of friends helped each other when ever they needed someone and Bruce almost died trying to save him a few times. Number 4: James gordan (every incarnation) James is around Thomas Wayne's age so to me I feel like James is like a "step dad" you respect him and you both push each other with how much you can get away with. Number 3: superman/wonder woman (justice league/justice league unlimited) I put these 2 in the same spot because either one could be on this spot. Superman is like the younger brother to Batman (some books Batman is around 8 years older than superman) they have been through alot from hating each other to risking live and limb to save each other. Wonder woman because it was hinted they had a thing/fling and honestly it's wonder woman who else can you date with a rogues gallery of some of the most evil/crazy people in the DC universe and not have to worry about them. Number 2: Terry maginis (Batman beyond animated series) I will admit I'm a little biased with this one. I loved the show when it was on and the twist that Terry is a clone/son of Bruce was a big "holy shit" moment. He is trained by Batman to be on par with the old Batman and is smart enough to outthink his opponents even faster than what Bruce can calculate (and that's hard to outsmart Bruce Wayne) number 1: Alfred. Its mother f*cking Alfred do I even need to explain? Honerable mentions: joker (dc metal) joker (white knight) Zatanna (Batman animated series) Deadman (Batman brave and bold version) and Harley Quinn (injustice universe). Before anyone asks "why no robins, batgirl, batwoman, catwoman" it's because personally I feel they are more "family" than "I work with them" as for Alfred he isn't in a costume on patrol which is why he is on my list. Otherwise my list would just be robins and nightwing.
