Rusty you state your case for CBCS very nicely. I would not be able to help you with prices as just don’t do slabs. Verified signatures has to be a huge huge plus.

Thanks appreciate it. When I do list any cgc books I'll approach it like it's just as valuable as cgc and then go from there.

I like CBCS slabs. Plus the new labels 😊
@otakutourguide
@otakutourguide 10 месяцев назад
Unfortunately the market doesn't think so and CGC's greatest asset is its census count which legitimizes its slabs' collectibility. Therefore, unless CBCS drops its pricing, a shiny new label isn't gonna do much for people wanting to use the service.
@big90sspec9
@big90sspec9 10 месяцев назад
When CPR became popular and CGC removed credits for old labels, the census has become more and more inaccurate. Not to mention CGC's inconsistent, yet common overgrading. CBCS has a better product with the the stronger, clearer slab and consistent grading, they just don't have the history to make them as desired. It's unfortunate.
@otakutourguide

@@big90sspec9 that's a matter of opinion. What isn't is market share in comic grading.

CBCS cases are superior for clearness and fit . CGC inner sleeve is wavy , the books are wavy , newton rings . If I wanted a book purely for pc , I would use CBCS .
@CollectorAuctions
@CollectorAuctions 10 месяцев назад
I guess I'm also used to cgc more by this point. Also chc has done much better with newton rings. I am considering sending in a few cbcs yellow label books to be reholdered with the new label. They are running a $10 special right now.

CBCS for modern. CGC for everything else.

Only way to start the way of thinking: Value the slabs the same when selling at fixed price. If someone wants your book bad enough, they will pay the comparable CGC price for same grade and PQ in CBCS slab imho. Auction is a different story.

This comment is before starting, I already know it’s going to be good. The comic, the book, the item! Is what matters not the grading company between CGC and CBCS, just don’t buy cbcs signed unless to avoid conflict in the future. As of know cbcs books are a bargain way to take advantage of the comic market correction/cool down period. Start looking at the pictures more closely of each book, don’t just read 9.8, 5.5, or 9.4 etc… you’d be surprised how many 9.2-9.6 books there are that can be cleaned and pressed into a 9.8. Alright let’s see if this jives well with the video 😅

So I’m curious of what everyone else thinks about CBCS signed issues? I may be bias as a numbers/risk management guy but there is more room for cbcs to assign authentic signatures to forged sig books. Both CBCS and CGC have been caught allowing signatures of artists/celebrities/writers assistants only to sell the public a forger sign book. Having a signature up for debate on a high value book I feel is a gamble because it’s either “signed” or “marked with pen”. Do others have the same sentiment? Don’t get me wrong I have tons of signed issues (nothing of crazy value) but I’m hesitant to send them in for grading due to question of authenticity (yes they have COAs, for what it’s worth, some are even part of a limited signed first print run.

Your double-check to confirm the label noted 'verified' gave me pause and had to run to check the only valuable CBCS yellow label that I own (Thor 705 virgin signed by Stanly Artgerm Lau). It was verified. I've never submitted to CBCS... the ones I own were Ebay purchases. But a quick google makes me think all yellow labels = verified or witnessed (older books used red for verified, but that's been retired). If they can't verify you have the option to blue label it - with the grade hit for the 'writing'.

You made me laugh. I sent in that 705 to artgerm's cgc signing.

Ok here me out if cgc is the most popular, and most valuable at the moment, then doesn't that make cbcs tomorrow's newstand variant of graded books?

I think they look good. People shouldn't have an issue with them. Next people will want custom labels too and probably complain about that.

@@CollectorAuctions I actually feel more inclined to send a few signed books in now for the signature verification. I think they look so much better.

Hi Rusty, I have been watching your videos for awhile now but just actually subscribed. Sorry about that. You do a wonderful job with your videos so keep up the great work. I have a few CGC Submission questions that I hoped you wouldn’t mind answering. 1. I have a very clean copy of X-Men 101 probably 9.4 or higher. Do you recommend a pressing on books of this age even if pretty pristine? Should I submit myself or do Authorized dealers/Group submitters tend to get better grades and turn around times than newbies? At what tier and what value would I submit a book like this that lets again say that it is X-Men 101 newsstand at a 9.4 minimum but more likely a 9.6 or even possibly a 9.8? Could you also answer the same question for let’s say X-Men #130 in the same pre assumed pre graded conditions? Also, last 2 questions. When dealing with books that are possibly worth several thousands of dollars in high rare grades can CGC Authorized dealers Always be trusted ?Do you think they ever replace your book with a slightly lower copy and then submit your copy as their own hoping no one notices? I definitely have trust issues. Last question can you submit directly to CGC headquarters in person anymore? Thanks for your responses in advance and again keep up the great work? Donnie

There was a guy on RU-vid who faked a signature then sent it to CBCS & it came back with a yellow label. He documented everything on RU-vid too so I think that hurt CBCS a bit.

I remember back in 2019 while at Heroes Con trying to go to bothe CGC and CBCS to get more info on both before deciding which way to go. Neither were good at talking to a newbie. I watched a lot of youtubers and learned generally that CGC sells better, so that was the deciding factor. However, with all the recent problems CGC has that might be changing.
