Million dollars a year combined isn't even that much, atleast to 2K, so what the hell is 2K doing...? They think retired players don't deserve to get money from it? Come on man...
They're doing extremely well without Barkley, Miller etc. And Reggie, Chuck and others are doing extremely well without 2K. Why spend the extra money for a bunch of guys people will probably play with once and be bored with?
They're so money hungry and greedy af. Haven't y'all noticed the game almost forces your hand in buying VC to upgrade your career player to be able to compete with others who don't mind throwing money at them to get ahead fast. Either that or grind your life away in earning VC.
Barkley isn't wanting 2K to pay the players $1 million collectively. He wants 2K to pay the RETIRED PLAYER'S ASSOCIATION. From there the money gets distributed to individual guys. Barkley is wanting 2K to help old retired players and 2K refuses.
@@yungl.o.e9211 Lol, it's not a job at all. It's negotiations and yeah they "signed up" for it. If 2K wants to use Barkley then a simple donation is all it takes. They already pay to use all these other retired guys.
I'm not even from the U.S. but just having Reggie Miller alone in the game for all the Indiana fans would recoup the cost. They seem pretty nutty about basketball over there.
Yeah but he's fr being selfish about it bc he either wants the recognition or he just has a damn high horse he won't jump down from, just like Reggie 🙄
@@one_uninterested_introvert telling a successful game franchise that they cant use your likeness to make profit and you dont see any at all is not selfish thats the right thing to do lol you sound 12
@@DesmondErvin I wouldnt call that a diss. He spoke the truth. Mj does surround himself around yes men. Which is why he hasnt been successful as a owner. Too many "fans" working for him
The last time Charles Barkley was in 2K was 2K13 with the whole team usa thing. And that online mode where you can play dream team vs the redeem team and you get to control one player. I scored 30 points with Barkley going 15/15 from the field. Good fucking times!
@@KingExit36 Let me guess you’re a 2K prodigy, nobody cares kid. I’ve stopped playing 2K years ago. I hope you get plenty of VC this Christmas cause I know you’re 15
Honestly, the fact that Barkley just wants 2k to donate a million a year to the retired players association and they just refused to do it says a lot about the company. Just furfill this man's wish and donate the million. The fact that you had to literally buy thousands of packs in 2k17 to get the reward cards which would then get you Barkley was a bit much. With that being said, I am in full agreement with Barkley. They make way more from sales, it wouldn't hurt to donate.
Why should millionaires get a handout from a video game company? Charles Barkley doesn't need or deserve any charity. How about 2k donates to people in need rather than the most privileged people on society.
@@NickMachado It's not a game about homeless people battling for boxes to build a house empire. Most nba players are forced to retire early. The small percentage after 10 years of play time will make around $250k before taxes. Most NBA players take a lot of abuse to their body. They have so many health issues and upkeep to their bodies. If thats not enough they should get paid to put their image on the game.
@@NickMachado its not even charity in the end, they get to use the players likeness and make charles barkley events in myteam which would cause a significant amount of revenue
@NickMachadoc harity? Why should a video game company be allowed to profit from the likeness of retired players for free? Damn sure aint selling the game for free. Even if they did what you suggest, and donate a million dollars to charity, in behalf of the retired players association- would get more appreciation than simply profiteering off someoneelses likeness, w/o paying them to use it.
It's so weird because their face scans are in the game and available on PC. Although I swear tayshaun prince was in one of the 04 pistons roster in one of the last 2ks
Yeah plus Barkley and Reggie Miller... I don't understand why it's such a big deal to give a million dollars COMBINED to retired players per year.... Just fucking greedy..
@@KalmoK for real dawg. they probably make a million off pre order sales alone by just copying and pasting the same game almost every year. The only reason 2k still a thing is because they got no competition
I'm sitting here wondering where people in this comment section are getting this idea that Barkley wants 2k to give 1 million dollars to every retired player out there. He never said that. What he said was that he wants 2k to simply donate "1 MILLION DOLLARS" to the Retired Players Association every year. Then from there that 1 MILLION DOLLARS" would get divided up fairly between those guys. There is nothing wrong at all with a deal like that because 2k makes millions of dollars every year from this game.
literal millions of dollars using these guy's likeness to get kids/adult children to partake in predatory marketing strategies and can't spare a dime for the people making it possible, shows the ethics of 2K perfectly
@@kinghova9197 how?, do u know how much 2k makes off us and the player’s likeness? I paid $150 for the game and atleast $500 in vc after purchase and there’s people who spent and still spending now even tho the new one is about to come out, they make more than enough to donate 1 million lol smh
@@kinghova9197 No you just flat out don’t understand. He’s talking about the older players who didn’t make millions and now living check to check off the NBA retirement fund.
Always hoping for Barkley, R. Miller, & Rasheed. Every new 2K but nope we haven’t had Miller or Rasheed in 2K for awhile now. Barkley was in 2K13 USA team and 2K17 MyTeam at least..
@@FarCup no I’ll get it .. and it don’t cost that much VC to make a new build .. trust me I got 4 different builds right now on 2k22 I’m just saying you capping hard .. they don’t make nowhere near a mil per day off transactions … ✌🏽 and ❤️
Why the fuck would they care about people who already bought the game? 2k already made their money from you, they don’t need to spend $1,000,000 to keep active players happy. Realistically, spending $1,000,000 for Charles Barkley to be in the game would probably only make them an extra $5,000 through MyTeam sales and new players
All is great here on Barkley's part, including Chris Webber and a few others on this stance. Yet it speaks volumes on the many many more NBA players that allow their likeness in these video games, without an ounce of care for the "old time greats" compensation.
Charles barkley is cut from a different cloth. I respect him for giving a voice to retired players that aren't as popular as him nor do they have a platform to speak their mind.
The only one he was officially in was 2k13 because he is on the dream team, and they put him on the roster. But you can’t put him on any other team you can only play with him with the 91/92 dream team because he said yes to be in the game but only with that team.
2k is genuinely the most money hungry organization in the world for a multibillion dollar company giving 1 million dollars to help old retired players is like giving a dollar to the homeless and it would be so cool as someone who plays a lot of myteam having Charles Barkley and Reggie miller would literally be a dream come true
@@JustRed916 that's actually incorrect lol likeness directly refers to the use of your image and mannerisms in-game; if anything you're the one giving 2k rights to use it. "ur right to be featured" doesn't make any sense also the original comment was outlining how the narrator said likeliness instead of likeness, which are two different words. so now you know. double L
@@JustRed916 I like how all the other comments are a roast so I don't have to. But since I didn't get my turn... You're probably too young to know there's no comma after "means." I know punctuation isn't until 3rd grade 😂
Good job Chuck. I wouldn't want a billion dollar gaming company to use my character for free either. Especially when those games CHARGE PLAYERS extra to use some of the characters. It's wild how greedy these gaming companies have gotten
Watch.. Some year soon in the future theyre going to have a cover with Barkley and Reggie Miller. Finally putting both of them in the game. And its gonna sell like crazy
Real selfless guy and it's great he wants to help older guys who may be bad off getting more money.. But this is the same guy known for that $1 salary conversion to bring Pippen to the Rockets.. Gotta love Chuck
When I was younger I was annoyed that he wasn’t in the game, so I looked it up and when I heard what he had to say it made total sense to me. I’m honestly surprised that more retired stars don’t take that stance.
2k would have to sell more 14,285copies to see a profit on that extra 1m they paid for it and I dont think the lacking of charles barkley is stopping people from buying 2k
Take 2 interactive is one of the biggest players in the industry and can definitely afford it owning 2k & Rockstar games they are the Rockstars of the industry
What 2ks u been playing because I seen prince Rasheed Wallace in Ron so that’s cap maybe in the new 2ks like 20 21 22 but they definitely was in 2k from 04 - 2016 I seen them in games even in 2k12 14 too
Is definitely like him to be there, had he been in the video games all these years he’d definitely have more respect & reverence from the younger fans, it’s the only way a lot of them learn about & gain interest about the legends in the sport.
It's so frustrating that he's like this. I love playing with classic teams and reliving nostalgia. But my nostalgia is very limited, since I grew up in Arizona with two parents from Indiana.
Barkley is ALWAYS looking out for the less fortunate, he's just a lot more quiet about his multiple charitable causes and actions than Shaq and a few others.
