I am expecting a money hungry person. This isn’t true. Cause I am disappointed. I blocked a therapist because I don’t like her. That I wonder if these people studied how to help themselves. That I am more interested in human rights. If you listen to them a lot, they’re money hungry people. I knew one who screamed at a woman cause she was fat. That I wonder why anyone needs a therapist when a lot of people with psychiatric disabilities are brighter and work harder than them. My therapist told me me that taking one day off was wrong. No one needs to tell me how to live my life. My problem is my asexuality.

Hi Laurie, I'm a Social Work student from The Netherlands. Personally speaking I am not interested in money all that much and would not call myself a money hungry person. A lot of people get into Social Work because they genuine want to try to help others with whatever is holding them back from living their life to the fullest, not to earn a crazy amount of money. A lot of people in the field do or will realize that every human being is different and that differences are what make us humans so complex and interesting and worth getting to know. I'm baffled you've come across a Social Worker calling another person fat so bluntly. If taking a day off works for you, do it! As a highly sensitive person I need a day off too sometimes. Rest is productive as it recharges you with energy that can then again be used to do wonderful things again. People with mental illnesses can definitely be very bright and hardworking people, just like 'normally functioning' people can be lazy. However, people with mental illnesses may need specific tools or circumstances in order to function (well) in our Western society as it is nowadays (focussed on individuality, focussed on working hard). We as Social Workers will look, together with our clients, how to better their life circumstances in order for them to thrive. Not all therapists are bad people and most have your best interest at heart. Have a wonderful day!
