Despite overwhelming scientific evidence, some American politicians continue to deny that climate change exists, while others question the severity of its impact. But public opinion is shifting, and today even oil and gas companies publicly admit that climate change demands action. So why does climate denialism continue to influence U.S. politics? Here's a look into who is funding the movement, and why denial is mainly a U.S. problem.

What I took away from all of this: If you back up ignorance with piles of money, you can start a revolution even against fact itself.

It is strange that politicians in America are freely supported by corporations. In my country it is a criminal act of corruption.

It's crazy how someone can look at the vast amount of proofs and data and then throw it all out of the window just cause they don't want to believe it

The traditionally conservative International Energy Agency in a huge report said that as of this year (2021) no new fossil fuel extraction projects should begin to meet emissions targets. Already several countries and corporations have disputed or refuted their findings and plant to carry on as before. This is to say, some one needs to require compliance, action once it gets worse will be ineffective.

who remembers Mike Pompeo saying it's great that polar ice is melting so they can get in there and exploit the resources?

It’s the same in Australia, Canada, Europe (incl Nordic nations & the UK) - most people simply lie when interviewed. No Aussie family will give up its fossil fuel lifestyle. People just make fashionable statements and then support coal power stations, fossil fuel exports and the destruction of the Great Barrier Reef. People in the USA are just more outspoken whereas in the rest of these countries the focus is to subvert and blame India or China - never a word about OPEC nations or nations that house the world’s largest oil corporations.

I know global warming/climate change is real because i live in the southwest USA, and i can see and feel for myself over time, its VERY real. The area i live is extremely vulnerable to this issue and is being hit first in the US, its affecting my life and the lives of everyone else around me including wildlife and ecosystems.

I support free markets, which means I oppose fossil fuel subsidies. The energy market ISN'T a free market, and that's the problem. Fossil fuel companies have an unfair economic advantage.
