I agree that it's creepy and zombifies kids a little. People had a problem with me for not wanting my kids to watch teletubbies back in the day, and they're literally toddlers with televisions IN their bodies, living alone, being raised by a vacuum cleaner thing instead of parents, with a terrifying laughing baby head in the sky as the sun. Nightmare stuff!! 😜 And about it being "multisensory," all TV engages vision and hearing, any show, so I don't understand that comment. If kids are rubbing, smelling, or tasting a TV show there are more serious issues there. 😂

I completely agree. My son started watching a lot of cocomelon after my daughter was born and his behaviour got worse with time. The behaviour got so bad that I decided to ban cocomelon for a week to see what would happen. After a week and a half without it he fell into the routine I had in place for him already. Would always listen to me and go to bed on time. Today, my husband put it on for him again and he started throwing tantrums 😭

It’s crazy how many times the frame changes on cocomelon. It’s the same type of addicting behavior that we experience on a tictok binge. It’s the quick change of frame that releases that dopamine and makes the videos addicting to watch. It’s pretty crazy. Most modern shows are like that for kids. Count the seconds between a change of frame. I’ve found the more the frame changes, the more addictive the show is. That’s why kids attention spans are like .5 seconds. Who would have thought. It’s crazy.

That's actually fascinating. I grew up watching Mr. Roger's Neighborhood and I'm pretty sure that it was designed to have minimal frame changes and long shots, which I guess could have contributed to my relatively long attention span. The show also taught essential lessons to children in easy to understand ways so that's why if I ever have kids, they'll be watching it too.
@playtimeallthetimecbeebies2272
Apparently I once counted the scene changes in an episode of the Blue's Clues & You! nursery rhyme series (which is like CM, except with Blue's Clues characters and more solid CGI) and found that most scenes were one or two seconds! Guess they must’ve been playing follow-the-leader!

It just baffles me how fast parents turn to a screen to distract their child. Children need to learn how to be bored and develop strategies to deal with it. You’ll save yourself huge headaches in the future but putting in a little effort now. You can help your little ones by creating engaging play spaces. 👉🏼 rotate toys- get the blocks out today, the puzzles out tomorrow, the farm animals the next… etc 👉🏼 books! Books! And more books! Keep these on rotation too. Every room in our house has a little pile of books! 👉🏼 art space- always has pencils and paper but sometimes a new little creative project appears. 👉🏼 music! Add more if you’ve got them!

As a working and studying mom, i started letting my baby girl(6 months old at the time) watch different videos on youtube like the sensory vids, other nursery vids along with cocomelon. Then my baby would just only want to watch cocomelon, if the others come right after she would start losing attention, play with her toys to eventually get bored and cry. I noticed late but now at 7.5/8 month, whenever i call her or make a noise she smiles but doesnt look at me and keeps watching them. So now i’m done! No more cocomelon. I hope its not too late. But i dont know how else i can get her entertained/busy while i do my work or school. Loved your video, amazing job mama.

Thanks for sharing your experience and way to go with finishing school and working! I get that you need your down time so you can get things done! Have you tried sensory activities instead of the show? Sometimes I put my 6 mo in the playpen close to me with a few activities in it and she is quiet for a while while I work. If you don't have a play pen you can use a fitted sheet with four toy bins to hold up each corner.

It has absolutely zero, and I mean ZERO to do with your baby watching cocomelon. I have 3 children, ages 5 and under. My daughter in particular absolutely loved cocomelon and watched it regularly. It never affected her negatively in the slightest; she is incredibly bright, imaginative and loves playing with her toys. My baby will be 1 year old next week and has never been interested in cocomelon. No matter how many times I put it on he’s barely interested. He likes other shows but cocomelon doesn’t interest him. My oldest watched plenty of chu chu tv. They are all very bright children and advanced for their ages in many ways. There has been zero academic research proving that cocomelon affects young children negatively; it’s all hearsay.

Ever since cocomelon has been around, my brothers are BRAINWASHED into looking at cocomelon all day. When my brother was younger, he would watch Cocomelon all the time. Whenever he heard that jingle he immediately ran to wherever it came from and started to watch. And once he started watching, he wouldn’t stop for anything. Lunch was ready? He wouldn’t get up. Whenever I put something else on he would have sort of a cocomelon withdrawal and would try to hit me. I eventually told my mom to introduce him to other kids shows because cocomelon always put him in some sort of trance-like state. She obliged and there have been no problems since. I work at a daycare and I had cat videos playing on my phone for the kids to watch for a moment and they all started chanting CocoMelon (3-4 year olds btw). I immediately said "Coco Melon is banned here" My coworker looked at me like I was nuts and said "They can watch cat videos but not CocoMelon?" looking at me like I was stupid and crazy. I just said "Yeah", didn't go into how it rots their brains almost. Like cat videos are real life animals caught on video aamd it's vastly different than CocoMelon. Plus the kids were enjoying the cat videos just as much and actually laughed and talked about the video unlike anything I've seen in CocoMelon

You’re certainly on point about parents really needing to put something on to just shut their kids up; but WHY of all things does it have to be Cocomelon? There’s literally 3 whole seasons of Bluey, probably the best kids show in the last 30 years; and they instead show them an overstimulating repeat of technicolor vomit.

Whatever happened to Baby Einstein? Classical music, hand puppets, slow scene changes... I had a love/hate relationship with it. Loved that it soothed my grand babies and held their attention (18 -24 mo), hated that it made me sleepy. How about Wonder Pets? Great imagination, good music and the adventure was usually based on a famous painting. Or Backyardigans? It took me 2 episodes to figure that show out. 🤭 Or Barney? The Wiggles? Bear in the Big Blue House? Mr Roger's Neighborhood? Sesame Street? Bluey? These shows didn't cause tantrums, had a slower pace, encouraged imaginative play and introduced famous music and art and discussed things important to young children and actually taught the beginnings of preschool. I think they should be on for the new generations. It's the adults - station owners and older parents - who get bored, not the little kids.

My 3 year old son was not exposed to TV and electronics until 2. And we only allowed him to use the tablet or phone only when we were eating out. But we would engage with him while he was watching so that way it would break his attention to the screen. He's able to talk to us while watching. And I would tell him how many minutes left and when it's times up, he can put it down easily. We don't do any screen time at home. He knows that. So he never asks for it. He loves to play on his own and with all of his toys. Our baby girl who is 1 1/2 seems to be more affected by the screen and Cocomelon because of her exposure at grandma's house. She is a nightmare at home. So we won't be leaving them at her house anymore. She doesn't respect us. And she doesn't listen to us. Our daughter was exposed early because of seeing her brother at grandma's. So when she's home with us after picking her up, we have to break her cycle. And she cries for hours. So, absolutely no more!

Ok for one thing I make music, so the reason you're kids are so addicted is because the creators know the Major scale, it's the same for pop. Not listening and texting everything, is a lot bigger than just Cocomelon any show can do that if there interested in it can work both ways, but it's always been up to u of what your kid watches. For my kid she interacts with me but I don't just leave my kid alone when she watches it, I join in with her and all on dancing, singing and all that. If you're using the show as a babysitter your the on who's the real problem, using show's like that just makes it worse.

I been binge watching these negative cocomelon reviews and was shocked that there is no positive comments defending the cartoon. Is it really that bad? I have 4 kids 3 of which grew up watching cocomelon. And they are still amongst the most well behaved in thier classes. They watched cocomelon religiously. They have great speech and no tantrums at all. When I turn off the TV and say that's it no more TV, there's not even a peep. Because they know no matter how much they complain they will not win with me so they have to accept it. If the are throwing tantrums because you turn off a program that is a great opportunity for a teaching segment. They must learn they cannot win over parents. On another note I know of a few children that have never seen cocomelon and have terrible behavioral issues. It's from the parenting not the programming. Not saying anyone is a bad parent. Just saying that a child's behavior shouldn't be based off of what they are watching alone. My oldest (8) now watches all those gamers that be cussing up a storm and crude humor, I am comfortable with him watching it because he doesn't repeat what's on the channels. He doesn't have a potty mouth and he's just the sweetest thing with his little sisters. No bullying no crude humor or misbehavior from him. On the other hand people hear thier kids. Opy everything they say and just put it off as "oh thats just the way he is I don't know how to make him stop". We have to step up our game as parents. All of us including myself because nobodys perfect. Good luck my fellow parents...
@CouchMomClub
@CouchMomClub 2 года назад
I agree that it all boils down to parenting. But I disagree with your choice of language when you say "winning." I must admit at first I didn't like the show either. When I first saw it I didn't want my kids watching it either. I thought it was pretty dumb and promoted misbehavior as well, with out needing anyone else to point it out. But I let them watch it nonetheless because that's what they was watching at thier mommas house and I knew there was no way I could prevent the exposure. So I figured I'd just monitor thier behavior and look for any changes that I could link to the cartoon. And to my surprise there actually was none.
@yexialderman3779

I totally agree with you. For what I have experienced with my 15 mm month old daughter, she loves Cocomelon and honestly I have not noticed a slight misbehavior on her part from watching this show. On the other hand, she actually has learned from it. It's crazy how many good things she has learned from it: hugging, play with her dogs, eat with her spoon, help around the house, climb up on things, she loves the outdoor videos, she loves to help others and be kind the same way Cocomelon does, and when it is time to turn the show off, she does not even complain. And if some days we don't turn the TV on, she does not miss it. I think this video is double standard because I know of many parents who let their kids watch Harry Potter and many other shows which to me are evil and a horrible influence for them. I think what makes kids misbehave and act weird is not Cocomelon, is everything else which they are exposed to and parents think are ok.

My baby got to see some videos on Jewtube today with me, but when I said she had to stop, she began a tantrum, so I hit her butt. :-) I say this because I know there is probably a libtard on the iternet who will complain. Cocomelon seems like it was made by someone who sees music as a way of getting those synapses going, to the point where they studied the entire “system type” they’re aiming for to crank out as many action potentials as possible. I always felt like most of those songs had a very specific swing beat that reminds me of a human heartbeat - a sound that humans associate with the womb and cuddling. The heavy use of keyboard percussion instruments, like marimbas, seems intentional too. Marimbas are clear, but their “attack” is brief. It’s a sound that can get your attention without being explicitly loud or overwhelming. Additionally, it seems like the marimbas were played on a keyboard; keyboards generally guarantee a very consistent sound. People shell out thousands for string sounds that take up gigabytes of hard disk space to avoid the consistent sound of keyboard strings, but the consistency is less noticeable for mallets, and might be desirable. After all, some adults like synths too. But these synths are higher fidelity than the Roland synths that made up the soundtrack of my childhood shows and tapes. Still, I wonder if culturing kids with these universally non-native sounds is even the best idea. Then we have the lyrics. Everything is “good for you”. Let’s keep those little sparks going.

My mom and others use to hate that I watched YuGiOh 😂And anime but my vocabulary was complex from a young age( only in English) and I am common with alot of words that are not common in speech but are in text in simular shows .

If there’s any Kids Show I love a lot more than Cocomelon, it would have to be good ol’ Thomas the Tank Engine! 😁

In my house, I banned Cocomelon in my house. I'm tired of seeing Cocomelon toys and videos at Target. The only thing we OGs was watching as a kid was Thomas The Tank Engine. Thomas has always been my favorite show, I have a baby cousin and he loves watching Thomas with me.

I don't need Cocomelon or Ms. Rachel to teach my kid that's my job as a parent. I don't need any of that. There's no Cocomelon or Ms. Rachel in this household. I teach my kid and we do activities and do playtime. I rather play and teach my son rather that have these channels teach him. Thats just laziness. I understand sometimes we need Mom time. I got my son engage with toys & he loves playing with his toys. Play guess the colors play peekaboo etc. My husband agreed he doesn't want our son on ipads and phones and Cocomelon&Ms. Rachel are prohibited 🚫 in our household. He watches Bluey in Disney+ for only half hour. I agree with her.

Yeah I didn't want my daughter to watch it but somehow it was found...(I think her aunt or her friend's house) now I use it at keypoints to get her to eat longer.

Very smart to take control of when and how you watch the show. We should always use shows and devices as parenting resources, never as a measure to control or over stimulate our kids.
