Dooku seemed to be very much more in control of his anger. He's always very calm. A duel was like a chess game to him, a challenging intellectual exercise.

Because Sir Christopher Lee's natural eyes are more terrifying than a pair contact lens.

The answer is actually quite simple. Count Dooku had his own agenda and was no longer affiliated with the Dark Side or the Light Side. It is my opinion that under the right circumstances he would have paired up with any Jedi who were willing to help him overthrow Darth Sidious.

Because Count Dooku is not blinded by the Dark Side.

Dooku was always an interesting force user. I feel like he had the power of the dark side and the disapline of the Jedi so he was in-between

There were a few times in the Clone Wars series, that whenever Dooku was really embracing the Dark Side his eyes turned Red instead of Yellow and that too me was far more interesting. My thoughts on this is that Dooku was a Jedi most of his life before becoming a Sith, he truly embraced both sides of the Force, the Light, Determination, Discipline, Steady and Calm Mind and Letting the Force Flow Through. The Darkside, Zealousness and the Embrace of Raw Power of the Force as a Weapon. That Dooku was a true prodigy of a balanced Force Wielder, he always fought his opponents with tact and care much like a Jedi keeping a calm mind, not allowing himself to immerse in the Dark Side to lose focus in a fight, only until it was necessary and even when he did fully immerse himself in the dark side, his tempered training made him a much more powerful. So I think that being truly balanced in the Force, that instead of acquiring Yellow Sith Eyes, Dooku got Red Eyes. If Dooku was younger he truly would've surpassed all others, even Palpy.

I really liked Dooku, he was portrayed very well in the clone wars cartoon. He also has one of my favorite lightsabers. I wish we were able to see more of him in the films.

That's because Dooku didn't fully embrace the dark side within his heart. He was still recently new and had good intentions, even though he was misguided. That's my view on the character.

When Ahsoka damaged Vaders helmet during their fight on Malachor we see Anakins eyes were indeed yellow.

When obi wan was captured, I think the way Dooku acted there explained it all. He still was in tune with the Light Side, he was able to understand the dark side but not be blinded by it. Which is why I think if given a good reason, he would have turned against Palpatine.

I think it's because Dooku really was on the line between Sith and Jedi. He was a master Jedi already, so couldn't be entirely corrupted like a child, but could be steadily influenced to the dark-side with subtle persuasion and division, which Palpatine was working on all the time.

The Legends explanation was that Dooku had full control of his emotions and only showed his yellow eyes during moments of intense emotion.

The reason for his eyes not turning yellowish, is because he didn’t fully embrace the dark side like Anakin. He just accepted the dark side, and kinda slowly let the light side go away. He kinda cast the light side away after he left the order.

I felt like Count Dooku kept toying with Anakin's emotions until Revenge of the Sith.

Dooku is to me a dark jedi, still a jedi through and through just he will use the dark side to achieve things but he still embraces the jedi teachings of self control and discipline not letting emotions cloud his judgement. One of my absolute favourite characters in all of star wars and I really would love to see Dooku vs Darth Vader or even Starkiller in a fan movie or something as I just wanna see that battle.

I believe Count Dooku was closer to a Grey Jedi than a sith. That's the power he had over Qui Gon truly and that's what hid him best amongst the jedi

In Legends, the change of eyecolor is the first stage in the physical decay caused by the Dark side. When channeling Darkside energy you also draw upon the Force within you that gives your body life. In new canon, the only suggestion of this symptom of Dark side usage is how Sideous' clone was deteriorating so quickly which is why he needed to essense transfer himself into Rey. Therefore, the amount of Dark Force energy you draw upon will influence how quickly you develop symptoms of decay. Dooku did use the Darkside, but as you pointed out he had only started to use it recently and his connection to the Force was inferior to both Anakin and Sideous. Also note what happened with Master Krell, his eyes did progressively turn more yellow through each episode as he became more corrupt. But he was also considered in lore to have an especially strong connection to the Force. It therefore can be concluded that a person's connection to the Force determines how quickly their symptoms manifest due to the quantity of force energy they can channel. It's like conductivity in metals; the more conductivity, the greater the electrical current. Midichlorians determine Force "conductivity". The more midichlorians you have in your body the more Force energy you can channel. But much as high electrical current can quickly damage wiring, high Force sensitivity can quickly damage the body if drawing upon the Dark side. In Anakin's case as the Chosen One, the Dark side decay is very rapid.

So essentially to cut the video short, Dooku was an emerging Grey jedi before being killed.

Respectfully @Star Wars Comics, I disagree. The answer why Dooku / Tyrannus did not have Sith Eyes are already in plain view, if you'll pardon the pun. 1) He was using the same technique Sidious was using to hide his Sith corruption. 2) Why? Because Dooku was the public face of the Sepratist movement and trying to present them as a liberating force rather than evil conquerors. Hard to do garner sympathy or charmismatically rally support if you look like a demon. 3) He was very vain, it showed in his clothes and fighting style. 4) Sidious had plans within plans. Yes, Sidious always meant to throw Dooku away for a superior apprentice, however the Sith grand plan was still the main objective. If somehow, someway Sidious was killed, the back up plan for the Sith lay with the apprentice, Darth Tyrannus. 5) Dooku was a true Sith Lord. He bled his own lightsaber crystal. Sacrificed a friend Syfo Dias. And pledged himself to the the Dark Lord.

Because he never truly embraced the savage power of the dark side. He was a man of elegance and refinement.

Behind the scenes explanation Sir Christopher Lee probably didn't wanna wear contacts. In-universe Dooku spent decades as a highly skilled and trained Jedi master and always kept his emotions in check in the heat of battle. Even as a Sith Lord.

Basically, he never had the passion of other Sith, he remained calm and collected.

Cos he ain't doing anything extremely naughty when they film him.

For the most part Dooku didn’t really side with Sidious for the purpose of gaining power through the dark side. He mostly wanted reform for the galaxy. He thought the Jedi had become blind in their hubris. His padawan’s death didn’t help his view of the council. He mainly just wanted to change the status quo by any means necessary and joining with sidious was the best option in his view. Also as explained in the video Dooku was a duelist and prided himself on it. Practicing his swordsmanship more than his connection with the force. This most likely contributed to why he didn’t fully tap into the power of the dark side. He didn’t feel like he needed to unless when necessary or (to torture) because he was such a skilled swordsman. Unlike Anakin and Sidious ,while yes Anakin was a prodigy with a lightsaber, they both more frequently incorporated force abilities when engaged in combat.

Dukoo used the dark side to gain control and power, but wasn't fueled by hate or blinded by rage like most others. He knew how to use the dark side, but not give himself over to it. Honestly he really wasn't that bad of a guy.

Darth Vader didn’t have yellow eyes at the end of return of the Jedi because he turned away from the dark side but in rebels you see he has the sith eyes when there is a hole in his mask

I think that the ability of Dooku to keep the balance is what made him such an interesting figure - he used the dark side a little, but had his own agenda. One of the characters that was able to balance the force. But I think that he was actually betrayed by both the dark and the light side because none of them really understood his motives.

Fascinating. I believe Dooku to be the most accomplished Sith ever. He had the power (one can argue about scale) but he never gave up his sense of "self". There was nothing he couldn't do, force manipulation, levitation, augmentation, & of course, lightning. Maul trained as Sith from a boy & never achieved that. One thing curious about, what of Revan's eyes?

That's the thing though... Dooku throughout his time in the series never showed or ever really acted out of anger. He held composure even up to his death with the only emotion he ever really showed was fear as he looked up to Anakin right before his death.

Dooku is a personal favorite of mine, as much as, if not more, than Vader himself. Refined, dignified, calm, cool and collected at all times, even after his turn to the dark side. The man commanded respect, even if you were against what he stood for. You get the sense that people followed him because they WANTED to, not because they were forced to (I'm speaking only from what I remember from the live action movies, I've never seen the animated features). When I saw his lightsaber for the first time, I thought the handle was bizarre and didn't know what to make of it. But taking a second look, it reminded me of a cane sword, specifically a "gentleman's cane sword". It gave it an "elegant" vibe to it, and matched Dooku perfectly. Others have said that they had wished Dooku had lived. I have to agree with that. He was an interesting character, and I would've loved to have seen more of him.

I always figured you got red eyes when you draw your dark side power from anger. But that’s not the only emotion that gives strength to the dark side. I just always figured he was not an angry sith but a calm one

That whole thing is interesting, but having in mind that Lightning requires hatred and anger to release, or SUPREME justice (Green Lightning) it would be really hard to believe that he didn't touch the dark side that much. I believe that he was using to conceal his true form, most of the time due to being not part of his style so to speak.

Dooku didn't have Sith eyes because he was such a good duelist that he didn't have to resort to the overpowering madness that brings them about. Except for his last duel with Anakin he was never in actual danger and when he was it was too late.

I think that Dooku never really committed to the dark side, he just used it to be able to fight against the Jedi a little easier.

it's always sad to see how poorly 'Revenge of the Sith' managed Lee. I would be down to had Dooku for the whole filme and eventually going the Grey Jedi way at the End or so. I hate that they kill him off so easily at the beginning.

One of the strengths of the dark side is how they can focus their determination/anger. That’s where sith eyes come from. It’s not a permanent thing. That’s why anakins eyes were blue at times and yellow at others.

The more time goes by, the more I really like the Dooku character. I think they could’ve done a lot more with him. In the end he was kind of right.

Moff Gideon is quite similar to Count Doku in a way of not showing much of the dark side. They are extremely good strategists manipulating other’s emotions in their favour.

Didn't Dooku actually believe in what he was achieving though? He wasn't twisted or bent into form by the darkside, he was always aligned with it's ways going by his backstory.

He does. I'm watching Clone Wars series right now, and on season 4 episode 18 Dooku is fighting with Anakin. And he really has to defend hard, and for a moment he actually has yellow eyes.

The Sith have always had the ability to mask themselves from the Jedi... This "normal eyes" is probably tied into this as well. Also the eyes don't pop-up unless you going all out and the combination of these two is probably why Dooku never showed his eyes.

I saw Dooku more as a Grey Jedi similar to Qui gon Jinn, who thought that the Jedi had lost their way they had become arrogant with their ideas and ways, the Jedi were trying to bend the force in their favor instead of just going with the flow of the force and being in tune with it...

I always thought it was because he wasn't a fulfleged sith, because to me he didn't seem that evil that he thought both the Jedi and the sith were wrong.

i would argue that palpatine had more control with the darkside and emotion than dooku, yes dooku showed restraint as to not allow his emotions/anger to control him, but, palpatine allowed his emotions to take control at exactly the right moments, and did not allow his anger to control him in moments that were not beneficial for him to do so. he had encapsulated the darkside in him to a degree where his anger often did not cloud his judgement or intelligence, but of coarse eventually, he was defeated by the very thing he had almost forgotten existed, forgiveness. luke forgave his father, and offered his own life to his father as proof, and this was enough to defeat the darkness within him.

Legends did a better job of explaining how the dark side works. Essentially, it's the question of using the dark side versus letting it use you. Letting it take control takes a toll on the body and it corrupts flesh and takes over many functions of the body. There were upsides and downsides to that. Among the upsides were nearly bottomless stamina, enhanced endurance, enhanced longevity and supernatural strength. The downsides included physical dependence (in some cases it was so bad that those cut off from it suddenly died instantly, though this could happen to Jedi who relied too much on the Force as well), irritability and even madness. It's notable that force users who used the dark side without surrendering themselves to it (like Gray Jedi, Jensaarai, many of the ancient Sith and some of the original Dark Jedi to name a few) did not exhibit the physical symptoms associated with dark side corruption like yellowed eyes, pale skin and the likes. The dark side in legends functioned like a drug and those that bathed in it were quite literally "drunk with power", it caused their reasoning to go out the window.

Dooku to me always seemed like a Grey force user rather than a Sith or Jedi, he remains Calm and collected right up until the end, his actions never seemed to come from anger or hate but from objective and whether or not he was trying to Trick Obiwan on Genosis, the goal was still to raise awareness of a Sith lord being in control of the senate. just my 2 cents

I always thought it wasn't Palpatine "shedding his mask" that made him look like that. It was the impact of Mace Windu forcing Palpatine's force lightning back on him.

Could be even simpler then that. He chose to join the Sith and walk that path, but in his head Dooku was a hero that fought injustice and corruption. Both of which he saw in the Senate and Jedi order. He was nothing more then a tool in Palpatine's plan as well as a place holder for a future more powerful apprentice. That being Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader.

It never seemed like Dooku was actually devoted to Palpatine like Maul was. It seemed he just wanted to want to learn how to get more power and Palpy was the way to do that.

Count Dooku is basically the Anton LaVey of Star Wars. They both knew how to use the dark side at a better part. LaVey embraced the feelings of Egotism and Individualism. Dooku was more political. LaVey was also a more darker person while being a nice guy and a very wise man using his knowledge. Same with Count Dooku, he used his knowledge to still defeat Jedis, Only LaVey did not defeat christians, only mocked them and made parodies of them.

Dooku and Pong Krell would be a mean combo. Krell had Visions of the Republic's fall and prolly the Clones' betrayal so he tried getting Dooku's attention to join him
