I am 40, and I am almost finishing my bootcamp of network and cybersecurity engineering and then, going to take the CompTIA security plus around the end of February or begin of March 2024. It is hard, but I have a feeling it will be rewarding at the end. Keep doing what you are doing, good luck.
I’m not African American/Black I’m 1st Gen Latino and I find inspiration in every shape or form from other minorities. Shout out to you yall for the insight and encouragement. I don’t see color just people who want to improve and inspire despite our differences. I’m staring to break into IT by taking a course then cyber starting with sec+ . I’ve been around tech and got sales and construction experience . I know I can break into it, although it seems highly competitive.

I’m 22, and I have a year left for my bachelor’s in cybersecurity while also interning as a SOC analyst. This podcast was really refreshing to hear, I’m glad the future in this industry is looking bright!
Fantastic to hear! Your journey in cybersecurity sounds promising. Keep soaking in those experiences, and the future is indeed bright for you in the industry.
I love the security interviews. I was a copier technician at 30 just 2-5 years ago. I used that job to gather some tech experience. I landed my first help desk job 2 years ago. I will be a systems admin next week. I am enrolled in WGU for Cybersecurity currently.
I also feel like we need programs that educate our communities on the basics of cybersecurity because a lot of these hacks come down to social engineering or being unaware of phishing attacks or what people can do with images, pdfs and even emails for the real technical people. If we can create a spark and teach these concepts while kids are young it will be easier to adapt. Not just to cybersecurity but in any organization because cybersecurity policies for any organization is paramount in the current landscape.
Education on cybersecurity basics is crucial, especially with the rise of social engineering and phishing attacks. Starting young can build strong foundations for adapting to cybersecurity challenges in any organization.
That is another underrated piece of the cybersecurity pie, called cybersecurity awareness or culture. That's my niche, look it up, lots of opportunities in that area as well.
If multiple people that’s aspiring to get into cybersecurity live near each other, they should really meetup or build a lab or even a server that not only allows you to network but it also can help you build real world experience when time comes for your interviews.
Great idea! Collaborating with local aspiring cybersecurity professionals for meetups, labs, or servers is an excellent way to gain real-world experience and network effectively.
I am 40, and I am almost finishing my bootcamp of network and cybersecurity engineering and then, going to take the CompTIA security plus around the end of February or begin of March 2024. It is hard, but the gentlemen is right, as you understand the fundamental of networking / cybersecurity, the rest will make more sense.
Fantastic to hear about your progress! Completing a bootcamp in network and cybersecurity engineering is a significant achievement. Best of luck with your upcoming CompTIA Security+ exam. Keep pushing through, and you're right - understanding the fundamentals is key. You're on the right path!
Thank you very, much and I am glad we have people like you and other that is pushing Black or minority especially young generation, that there are options out there for us. Thank you for your channel and continue the wonderful work you are doing by reaching out to other black professional so they can tell their stories to others.
I’m a nurse looking to get my MS in Artificial Intelligence. My initial path was NP but I’m thinking about all the crazy paths I could take as a nurse with AI.
I just had a similar conversation with a friend of mine the other day about living from the inside out. My time in the Navy definitely drove those principles home, and also set me up to be highly sought after in cybersecurity. Great conversation!! Yall really dropped some 💎💎💎
I just watched this video and loved the idea of monetizing our personal data by leveraging blockchain. The potential for cybersecurity to create future millionaires is truly inspiring. Thanks for shedding light on such an innovative approach! 👏👏
This guest is very inspiring and I manifest that someone that really needs a change in their life; whether being career, skilling up or lifestyle.....get a chance watch and listen to this guest. I wish you Cyrus and Odie much success in what you all are doing. Odie's energy is genuine and sincere. You can see he really wants to make a difference while making his money. The average person that went through the experience he went through, by having a mother literally throw you away (keeping it real). Would have been bitter, dark and angry at the world. However, this man decided to look inwards and ask not only how can he evolve to be better but also how can he help impact other people lives. He is definitely one of those that you want to follow and journey with. He is definitely someone to consider bring back on your show in the future👍

When bro said you gotta “discover who you are outside of external influence” and continue on that path … was so simple but complex…many people don’t think about this although it could be that simple thought process that could change everything… & it’s necessary to reach new levels. I had to ponder on that one for a second
Such a great interview! I’ve watched at least 90% of TITNB interviews and this is hands down one of THE Best ones! SO INSIGHTFUL!!! I’m currently signed up for a Tech sales boot camp, but now I’m thinking I definitely need to go for the Cybersecurity lol. He really dropped so many gems! God Bless you Cyrus and Odie for everything you’re doing for our community!

7:18 I resonate. When I look at how AI is becoming more relevant I see a lot of job opportunities but without the knowledge of the new technology it will be harder to compete for those jobs. I’m pursuing cybersecurity and I’m trying to push a lot of the homies into it because it’s so diverse and when it comes to ethical hacking after you learn the basics it’s the ability to think critically is what matters and I think that’s an ability I see a lot that’s not tapped into
Cybersecurity is a dynamic field with diverse opportunities. Developing critical thinking skills is key, especially in ethical hacking. Best of luck on your cybersecurity journey, and it's great that you're encouraging others to explore it too!
I had to pause this because youre telling my story with the phone but it's a computer in my case therefore, Odie also is serving in his life, openness, humanity. We thank God for all this. Thank you everyone there. I'm in South Africa and hey let's go. This year is going to mad progress
I'm 31 too, and from New England. I'm going to Western Governors University for a bachelor' of science in cybersecurity and information assurance. The degree comes with 13 or more certifications, with 90% of them from CompTIA. I can't wait until I get my certifications either which would change my life for the better as well. #securingthefuture
Thanks for inspiring me to put in the work! Thanks to all your guests I started moving the right way in my Tech education! Keep doing what you do man👊🏿
This is my first time watching/listening to this channel, and this was genuinely the best podcast I've listened to for tech by far. Keep up the great work! I'm excited to listen to more.
Thank you for tuning in! I'm glad you enjoyed the podcast. There's a lot more insightful content to explore, so feel free to dive into more episodes. Stay inspired!
