I'm here after Charlie (who played Rodrick) made his video about how awful and mentally draining the hate for him was and guys. He was a teenager doing his job. Hate on execs who make a quick buck, not kids trying to get a break.
@@Islamphobeyo what are the chances you could be here for me tomorrow night at seven or eight and then we could meet at your place or whatever and I could come to you if that’s easier and I could get a little earlier if that’s cool
@@Internetexplorer-rc3lo don’t plan on it. Anyways let’s talk about what op wants. Op wants people to not hate on this kid. Ok, what’s the original video and comment section say? What do I say? Light hearted and funny insults? Oh. Definitely not the place to tell people to not hate then.
@@Islamphobe The The Big Lie was the most important story in this series and it is the first one I read about the Big Story and I am so excited for the series and I hope to get the next chapter soon and the rest will come soon
Just saw Charlie Wright's video I can only imagine what it's like getting trashed on by the entire internet just for doing your job I was never behind the whole "notmyrodrick" thing But i think I hate it even more now
@@ZeroIsStillCool._. yeah he didn’t deserve the hate but I don’t think notmyrodrick was that bad. It wasn’t against the actor as a person just against the horrible casting .
@@ShadowGaming26548 it seemed pretty bad to me to be honest It put I'm in a depressive state for like 3 years or something and I think it casts a shadow on his acting career But you're right, the casting was pretty bad
Idk why it took so long for him to just get that out of his hand in the first place, seemed a bit dragged out imo, and why is everybody laughing at that particular thing? It's not like it would've been that big of a deal irl...
The cheese touch wasn’t that bad it was only the whole school that knew that but the diaper was pretty bad because the whole world knew it was live and who knows a guy could’ve told the whole world
@@aestheticgthicangle939 yeah honestly the diaper one was pretty weak, I still think it's more embarrassing to have your mother call you out to everyone, like when the pissed off principal calls your name to get to the office, you know how many heads that turned?
@@intelblox7354 i was never part of the whole notmyrodrick thing, but wright’s video made me feel bad for the guy, so i still think we need to apologize.
@@intelblox7354bro thinks people regretting being assholes and participating in a trend that led someone to depression is “bandwagoning” 💀 you’re the loser here buddy
@@fnbaby9549Stfu treat the dude with some respect. There’s too many Retarded people like you who lack decency and actual respect and care so much about one poor movie and blame it on the actor for doing his job lmao wtf😂
I get the whole joke of not my Rodrick, but I don’t like the negative attention it brought to the actor himself. He was trying to make his break in acting and that’s commendable. It’s not his fault that the writing, directing, and executives were trash. I wish him the best of luck in his career 😊
This movie gives me the same vibe as a saturday afternoon when you realize that you've done nothing with your day and this weekend is almost worse than going to school. Like it makes me feel like I have no meaning in living.
When I was watching the movie I was so excited but then I saw the new Rodrick and I was like what the heck that is not Roderick and I couldn't watch the movie without complaining
Zahn really was thinly caged unhinged insanity and also "soft subarban dad" the entire runtime of the original movies. I love how he goes out to get Greg off the skating rink. It radiates "I'm a pussy-whipped middle-aged dude who just decided its easier to do what my wife says before she gets passive-aggressive" energy. He and Greg both know its social suicide, but the chains that bind, lmao
I'm making an entire video on what it was like for this poor kid. I mean, Devon Bostick's performance as Rodrick is one of the greatest acting jobs I've ever seen, and this kid probably thought he could never measure up. And evidently, he didn't.
the first three movies were so well done and every actor perfectly captures the essence of their characters. this movie was just unmemorable to the point where I’m honestly not entirely sure I watched it (I definitely did but…did I?)
I don't know why the newest comments are blaming Nick for the hate Charlie got. He literally says in the video he doesn't deserve hate as a person or even as an actor, he just doesn't fit Rodrick. If some kids watched this video and decided to send hate to Charlie, blame those kids, not Nick.
people should be hating on the directors, not the actor lmao. crazy how buddy had to make a whole video before people realized hes also a human being lmao.
At my 11th birthday I had a sleepover, and near the end of the night, we watched the first diary of a wimpy kid movie. During the Loded Diaper talent show scene, we all started dancing, and I shit you not, a couple of my friends were dancing in their underwear (because we thought it was funny) and all I’m saying is the new rodrick could never inspire that level of weirdness in a bunch of pubescent girls.
@@aarongaming2878 Sounds ok on paper, but would be even worse than this movie, and the book would prob suck too. DWK revolves around staying young. there is character development, yet no passage of time.
It doesn’t make any sense because they could’ve just made a movie where Greg and Rodrick are all grown up it would’ve been just as funny as the other ones
@@njyawndra8609 *Plot Twist: Cher Horowitz and the Impostors kidnapped him and said that they were the Heffleys, even though they aren’t---* . . . _Yikes!!!_
@@zombievfxxx exactly lmao, rodrick is supposed to give the impression as the "masculine big bro", in this remake, they made bro look nothing like that.
Modernising technology somehow makes it more relatable, yet every classic movie you know doesn't give phones, social medias and RU-vidrs screen time. Trying to include them is a pathetic grasp to relate to kids born in the 2010s ("man I'm old now"), which doesn't work since kids at that age are being shown Megamind, Shrek, Will Smith movies and classics from 1990-2012
The worst part: Rodrick actor was so excited to do the movie because he is a fan of Diary of Wimp Kid that he read the books again just to enter in his character
I agree with this, the original movies were are part of my life and when they made this one, I just couldn’t accept it. I miss the old ones, the original cast.
They could have finished off the movies with the OG cast and made it a running joke about their ages. "Are you sure you're in this class?" "Yeah" "huh okay"
@@Split7689 Yep. Idk why this seems fine to everyone and then the person makes a video like "Hi, I'm the one you hated for things way out of my control" and people go "OMG this stuff was BAD?" ...Yes. Of course hating someone and creating a meme trying to ruin their career is a bad thing to do. And of course it leads to threats and harassment. You knew that going in, you were just among people who were on the same side and shouted the same thing along with you. But the people who do that also want to later on be like "Yeah in hindsight it wasn't very nice. Whoops."
4:04 someone working on the movie (I forgot if it was Zachary and robert or Jeff) said the books between Dog days and Hard luck (Ugly truth,Cabin fever,Third wheel and Hard Luck) were too complex. But they *Did* make an animated Cabin fever sooooo. But yeah thats why they did the long haul
@@tvanna2325 true, but since it's a movie it's not hard to look past these differences. Because race, in this specific story, has no role whatsoever and it doesn't matter if he's Asian, black or whatever. It's how the role is depicted that really bothers me
@@rosemarieclark5640 I get your point and I agree but it's been proven that people make a big deal about race with movies. if it were a black family and they made Roderick white people would be pissed. why does that matter but this doesn't. honestly it all should matter. we are all human and equal but if people are going to complain about that then they should complain about it as a whole. All I'm saying(:
When I was younger I always wanted the films to continue with the original cast as they get older and as Greg goes to High School for the first time! :(
You never know, there could be a fourth! A trailer that could be released from the heavens themselves, with the original cast that has all aged in the movies, a perfect sequel that even out do's rodrick rules! A fourth doesn't exist right now, don't know what everyone is talking about.. Actually I think I feel something, a distant memory so traumatic that I must have forced myself to forget... oh well
In the original 3, the cast actually hung out together before filming, and in this one it just seems like they picked up some random people off of Craigslist
I feel like if they kept the same cast it would have worked. I mean in the fact that Greg is pretty much an adult but is still treated like a kid (which would fit his parents very well) and rodrick still looks young enough to play his role
In the old DOAWK, rodrick seemed as if he hated his family but also really loved them and seemed like a normal mean, aggressive teenager even if Gregory snitches but in the 2017 DOAWK Roderick just straight forward says they hate them just because there taking away his PHONE, even the old rodrick says sorry to his mom when he says something mean to his mom when she is grounding him!
@@jem7724 well they were "ending" the series having him and holly holding hands at the end is better than having him chase a girl for 2 movies and nothing coming of it
@@JQ_Productions yeah that’s not right but I’m not the one sending death threats that’s too far only a psychopath would send death threats to Charlie over a movie
@@JQ_Productionsthat’s what they say as someone who probably didn’t send death threats lol. People will find any reason to say death threats so your point has no weight.
@@Islamphobe i agree that people now a days will find any reason to send death threats but im just saying let's not forget how Wright was feeling about it. It doesn't mean that death threats aren't still scary and sad when you get one.
With the new movie it just feels like there wasn’t the same amount of love put into it. I read the movie diary books for the wimpy kid movies religiously when I was little and in the books it explains just how much effort went into making the heffley’s feel like a real family and making Greg feel like a real kid even down to his clothes and haircut. The new movie is missing that detail and care, the new heffley’s don’t feel like a real family and more like their just reading their lines and Greg doesn’t feel like a real kid, he feels like what boomers think gen z and gen z culture is.
1:18 I’ve been to that museum, didn’t remember seeing Rodrick Rules there.. it’s possible I missed it though, maybe tucked away in a corner or something
Not to mention, the movie is literally nothing like the book. In the book, they were on a trip to a water park, not their grandmas house. Also, the whole RU-vid streamer guy and the gamer convention, was not even in the book at all
They weren't even going to the waterpark. they were just going on a road trip because the mom read about road trips in her family frolic magazine. They just went to the waterpark when their car broke down because they had nothing else to do.
The book was amazing, as expected. But the movie just took it and tried to make it HiP and MoDeRn. The books are based off of Jeff Kinney’s childhood. You can see this in the book, but they just took the characters and created a new plot to cOnNeCt with younger audience
Random Stuff In Oregon I think they just put in all the wrong stuff and kept out all the right stuff. All the wrong stuff would be right if they put in the right stuff
It’s so funny that in both of the wimpy kid movies the dads are both from a movie called “That thing you do” and the comparison between them shows in both movies between their acting and personalities. It’s really cool actually and a fun little thing I picked up :)
guys i get it the old movies were better but please lets not bully the new rodrick actor himself.. i mean like what more can he do? he was casted in the role and he probably had no control over the script. it was also one of his first acting gigs. please do not send death threats or be rude :(( if anything blame the director
It also completely destroyed any character development the first three movies made. Like yeah, Greg was still a narcissist, but after Rodrick Rules they had a much closer bond as brothers. And his relationship with his father was getting better. This just destroyed all of that for quick laughs
@@ivewonyhk21 I personally have nothing against the actor, but the role doesn't fit him, they even changed the personality. Anyone would look terrible in a role not meant for them. I'm just stating that Rodrick's old personality and looks would definitely bully him, as that's what his mindset would do.🤷🏼♀🤷🏼♀
