Another insane fact, that colorless version of catnap is the same monster that the kid in the VHS saw when the 2 adults were talking, and I think the kid’s name was Marie Payne, who was the same person who became mommy long legs, I guess that was the reason she feared catnap and the prototype so much
That was what i was thinking because they left her last name hidden but it might be a mislead due to the fact her mom's name in subtitles is "Ms Harper" and since people are often called their last name when used Ms or something like that so she would be "Marie Harper" or Payne is just the middle name like "Marie Payne Harper" or the switched up version "Marie Harper Payne" but idk about this yet.
Yes this is correct. Plus when caught by this skeletal version of Catnap, it defaults back to his regular form for his kill animation. It's all in your head due to the gas
i find it quite scary that catnap immediately releases the red smoke as soon as he finds you, never breaking eye contact once even after the smoke is thick enough to conceal him.
Story of mine In the eerie world of Poppy Playtime, where nostalgia meets horror, two chapters weave a tale of suspense and mystery, drawing players into a chilling adventure they won't soon forget. Chapter 1: The Factory The journey begins as the player steps into the abandoned walls of the Huggy Wuggy toy factory, once a place of joy and wonder, now a decrepit maze of shadows and secrets. As they navigate through the dimly lit corridors, echoes of the past whisper through the air, hinting at the dark history that lurks within. But it's not long before the player encounters their first challenge: the enigmatic Huggy Wuggy himself. Towering and menacing, with eyes that seem to follow their every move, Huggy Wuggy is both protector and predator, a silent sentinel guarding the secrets of the factory. Armed with nothing but their wits and a sense of unease, the player must outsmart Huggy Wuggy and uncover the truth behind the factory's sinister past. Along the way, they'll solve puzzles, evade traps, and unravel the mysteries of the forgotten toys that haunt its halls. But as they delve deeper into the heart of darkness, they soon realize that they are not alone. Something else lurks in the shadows, something far more sinister than they could ever imagine... Chapter 2: The Sewers In the second chapter of Poppy Playtime, the player finds themselves plunged into the depths of the factory's subterranean sewers, a twisted labyrinth of pipes and tunnels that seem to stretch on for eternity. Here, the true horrors of the factory are laid bare, as they confront the monstrous creations that lurk in the darkness. But the player is not without allies in their quest for answers. Along the way, they encounter the ghostly apparition of an old friend, whose cryptic messages offer glimpses into the factory's tragic past. With their help, the player navigates the treacherous waters of the sewers, piecing together clues and uncovering secrets that have long been buried. Yet, with each revelation comes a new challenge, as they are pursued relentlessly by the malevolent presence that lurks in the shadows. From the depths of the sewers to the heights of the factory's towering spires, the player must use all their cunning and skill to survive the horrors that await them. But as they draw closer to the truth, they soon realize that the greatest threat of all may be the one that lies within themselves. For in the world of Poppy Playtime, nothing is as it seems, and the line between friend and foe is blurred beyond recognition. Only by facing their deepest fears and confronting the darkness head-on can they hope to emerge from the shadows and uncover the truth behind the mystery of the Huggy Wuggy toy factory.Chapter 3: The Haunted Playground As the sun sets over the desolate landscape surrounding the Huggy Wuggy toy factory, a sense of foreboding descends upon the player as they step into the haunted playground. The once cheerful and vibrant play area now lies abandoned and overgrown, its swings creaking ominously in the wind and its slides coated in a thick layer of dust. Despite the eerie atmosphere, the player presses on, driven by an insatiable curiosity to uncover the secrets that lie hidden within. But as they explore the playground, they soon realize that they are not alone. Strange whispers echo through the air, and ghostly apparitions flit in and out of sight, their eyes gleaming with a malevolent glow. Determined to unravel the mystery of the haunted playground, the player braves the twisted jungle gym, navigating its labyrinthine passages and evading the spectral guardians that stand in their way. Along the way, they uncover clues that hint at the dark history of the playground, a history steeped in tragedy and loss. But just when they think they've uncovered the truth, they are plunged into darkness as a powerful storm descends upon the playground, turning the once familiar surroundings into a nightmarish maze of twisted metal and crumbling concrete. With each step, the player feels the presence of something sinister lurking just out of reach, its eyes watching their every move with unblinking intensity. As they struggle to find their way through the darkness, they are confronted by the embodiment of their greatest fears: a towering, nightmarish version of Huggy Wuggy, its eyes burning with a malevolent fire. With nowhere left to run, the player must face their fears head-on, using all their courage and cunning to survive the terrifying ordeal. But just when it seems that all hope is lost, a ray of light breaks through the darkness, illuminating a hidden passage that leads to safety. With a final burst of strength, the player races towards the light, leaving the haunted playground behind them as they emerge into the cool night air. As they catch their breath and survey the wreckage of the playground, the player knows that their journey is far from over. For in the world of Poppy Playtime, danger lurks around every corner, and the true horrors have yet to reveal themselves. But armed with their courage and determination, they are ready to face whatever challenges lie ahead and uncover the dark secrets that await them in the shadows.Chapter 4: The Puppet Master's Lair Having narrowly escaped the clutches of Huggy Wuggy and the haunted playground, the player finds themselves drawn deeper into the twisted world of Poppy Playtime. Following a trail of clues, they journey to the heart of the abandoned toy factory, where they uncover the lair of the puppet master behind it all. As they step into the dimly lit chamber, they are greeted by a sight that chills them to the bone. Rows upon rows of life-sized puppets line the walls, their eyes staring blankly ahead, their strings dangling ominously from the ceiling above. At the center of the room stands the puppet master, a shadowy figure shrouded in darkness, their features obscured by the flickering light of the candles that surround them. With a wave of their hand, the puppet master brings the puppets to life, their wooden limbs creaking and groaning as they lurch forward with a sinister purpose. The player watches in horror as the puppets advance, their movements jerky and unnatural, their eyes gleaming with an otherworldly light. With no time to lose, the player must navigate the treacherous maze of puppets, using all their wits and agility to evade their grasp. But as they dodge and weave through the onslaught of wooden limbs, they realize that they are not just fighting against the puppets themselves, but also against the puppet master who controls them. With each passing moment, the puppet master's power grows stronger, their dark influence spreading like a virus through the toy factory. But the player refuses to give up, drawing on their inner strength and determination to press forward in the face of overwhelming odds. As they reach the heart of the puppet master's lair, they come face to face with their nemesis at last. With a flick of their wrist, the puppet master summons their most powerful puppet yet, a towering monstrosity with razor-sharp claws and glowing red eyes. But the player refuses to back down, summoning all their courage and resolve to face the puppet master in one final showdown. With a mighty roar, they charge into battle, their every move guided by instinct and determination. In the end, it is not brute strength or raw power that wins the day, but the player's unwavering determination and indomitable spirit. With a final, decisive blow, they defeat the puppet master once and for all, banishing the darkness from the toy factory and restoring peace to the world of Poppy Playtime. As they emerge from the puppet master's lair, battered but victorious, the player knows that their journey is far from over. But armed with the lessons they've learned and the friendships they've forged along the way, they are ready to face whatever challenges lie ahead and continue their quest to uncover the truth behind the mysteries of Poppy Playtime.
Notice how when catnap first entered through the door, he was normal, but then he kind of vanished in the smoke for a few seconds and then turned into the nightmare version. The same is when the nightmare catnap kills you, his jumpscare shows his normal form.
The reason this happened was because in one tape, catnap had to be recalled because when children inhaled the gas they had violent nightmares. So this is why we hallucinate catnap in that nightmare form and hugged wuggy in the nightmare form as well.
In the end, the computer said to use the flare gun to shoot at this ghastly version of him, as it is a hallucination. As the player had breathed in much of the gas, which, another theory about how they can breath it in later, was maybe because they breathe it in much through the gas mask and got used to it. As this caused less, but more horrifying hallucinations throughout the game. As well memories are in black in white as of a 19’s picture could almost explain that the player, who was also a past worker, thought that Catnap looked like this ghastly version, and caused him to be slender and more horrifically scary, but for me, what I think makes most sense is: this ghastly version of Catnap was probably from the nightmares of the gas, causing it to also be a hallucination. I really hope some people will take their time to read this, as I had thought about these, but I also hope that this helps a lot, and maybe will be shown in the next short.
I thought at one point you did actually fell into a deep sleep, and the character was in a lucid dream you able to control their dream and able to fight and defeat CatNap. The deeper in your sleep, Catnap gets more scarier. The only thing that holds this up was that one tape, a child (forget the name) who was in a deep sleep saw the colourless monster but the mother didn’t. Honestly your theory makes more sense then mine.
Answer: Catnap doesn't really "transfrom", because the protagonist inhaled some of the gas before the mask on so we hallucinated(hope this helps!) Edit: 10K LIKES IN 8 DAYS?💀
I don't think the mask is meant to even be used during the fight, given how quickly Catnap appears you would have likely already inhaled the smoke Catnap emitted from his mouth before even getting the mask on, making it pretty much pointless to even use.
@@Ogishapur Except this can be assumed its due to the smoke because someone tried to see what happens to Catnap when the room is entirely engulfed in smoke and the models are just swapped out meaning the smoke is meant to be you hallucinating Catnap looking the way he does during the fight since he turns back to his normal appearance later on and conveniently there's no smoke to keep the hallucination believable.
@@cursedhawkins1305 even if you put a mask he still transforms and by the way protoype controls catnap deforming him into monster like in chapter 1 and 2
Hot take on this but I personally think that the prototype ripped off catnaps old legs and arms and tail to sew on new and improved bigger ones as dog day is the first smiling critter in bigger form that is friendly and he is no where near as big as catnap so it leads me to believe catnap was the same size as dog day and the rest of the smiling critters but prototype changed him
OHHHHH IN ONE OF THE FIRST TAPES YOU HEAR! One of the kids has a terrifying hallucination while going to bed after inhaling catnaps smoke, the one detail we got about this monster was that it was colorless. Maybe the monster she saw was catnap who looks normal to people who aren't breathing the gas but this withered gray version of catnap to those who are.
Catnaps stitches: Hot take on this but I personally think that the prototype ripped off catnaps old legs and arms and tail to sew on new and improved bigger ones as dog day is the first smiling critter in bigger form that is friendly and he is no where near as big as catnap so it leads me to believe catnap was the same size as dog day and the rest of the smiling critters but prototype changed him. Also on CatNaps normal appearance the stitches are around his limbs and no where else.
Hallucinogenic gas. The red smoke dows that, its mentioned that it happened to one of the kids in one of the earlier tapes, and his scary form vanishes after you ignite the gas at the end of the boss battle
This is actually what happened:In the poppy playtime ARG,a scientist(forgot the name) said that catnap can change his appearance and change his skeletal structure, and when he comes out of the red smoke,we know things get serious.Hoped this help(gosh I never have gotten these many likes thank you🥹)(almost another 100 likes in the next day holy smokes😳)(thank you for 200 likes🥹)(ok guys I think this is enough likes)
I doubt Catnap is able to make changes to his body that drastic. He also lost all his hair. Funnily enough, when there's no red smoke, Theo becomes his normal form again.
@@hrnsnfhsjddhsjfnsmjdjsd-xs9sethey’re lying to your face. he can’t morph his body at will. None of the toys can. What he’s doing is using weaponizing his gas as a fear factor. Making us hallucinate and see him as that; This can however be disputed considering it’s mentioned that children from the vhs tapes and records witnessed catnap in an odd state, leaving the children mentally scarred and unfit for testing.
Poppy playtime took notes from Trevor hendersons work and was like "Yeah we can do somethint with this, BAM LITERAL CARTOON CAT, BAM HUGGY WUGGY IS NOW TOOTHY WOOTHY!
Well it is a hallucination. When Catnap is trying to get to you in the safe room he is in that form, yet notice when Catnap catches fire after dropping from the ceiling and dies and see how he is in his normal form. It’s just a hallucination
All right, so reason why he transforms is because in one of the tapes there was a woman that was talking about her kid with the cat plushy. She said that her kid was with the catnip plushy, and she saw a pale cat, like a pale something, and she also said that she was flopping around like she was all having a stroke and catnap does this, so he can catch you cause he's supposed to really actually make you fall asleep, but for some reason on the last scene, he didn't fall asleep from the gas. We don't know why
that is actually not correct at all! there was no catnap plushy? it was catnap himself in the room administering the red smoke. she says "The children were sleeping and catnap was in the room with the red smoke." it also was not her child, it was a child of playcare (not sure why she refers to her as "my little girl" but whatever), and all of the children are orphans. you are correct that the smoke makes us hallucinate a nightmarish catnap, as does everytime we inhale the gas. The gas works differently on adults than it does children - with children they fall asleep, but with adults they vividly hallucinate. hence why we never fall asleep when we inhale the gas, but we do hella hallucinate.
@@matiganschumacher2259 we actually do fall asleep when we initially inhale the gas because after the huggy jump scare we "wake up" on the ground just inside of home sweet home right afterwards, if we were just hallucinating then why were we still in the entrance there and why were we on the ground afterwards?
@@matiganschumacher2259 to furtherly prove this, the child who had the hallucination was a girl named Marie Payne, who was the child used to create exp #1222/ Mommy Long Legs. And if the company were to just take someone else's kid who wasn't an orphan, they'd most definitely be sued and investigated.
When the player inhales the gas, you will hullusinate that he looks like this, so he didn't transform, he actually still looks the same. But with gas, you will hallucinate him scarier.
This may be right but the body changing is just a feature that Catnap has. Every Bigger Body Intiative victims have been given a purpose and, you may say, a feature. Mommy Long Legs was created to direct kids to places in the game station and was super elastic and Boxy Boo was made to carry things and was able to hide amongst other boxes. In this case, Catnap was created to spread Poppy Gas or the ”Red Smoke” to put more Bigger Bodies victims to a sleep state to then be experimented on later. His feature was also to CHANGE his physical form. You also at that point in game no longer have he gas mask because Catnap took it away from you during the dream cutscene in the counselor’s office, meaning the gas there doesn’t effect you, just like the gas hovering above the ground in the boss fight. I hope this helps 😊.
"earlier in the game, we inhaled the red gas and end up *hallucinating* this nightmarish looking huggy wuggy, and this is probably the same thing happening right now."
@@Lunarcreeperits a short.. so its no longer than a minute. I dont play poppy playtime or watched gameplay of the current chapter so i wouldve assumed it was mutation and not hallucination.
Me personally I think that normal purple catnap is creepier The big pale one is doing a lot to look scary, while the normal catnap is creepy because of how simple he looks, yet still being unnerving, and how he feels like what he is, a predator that hides, hunts, and kills, and not some skeletal cat demon
Another weird fact i think is happening rn: Well if i may say i think the metal hand is getting pieces for a New and more evil Poppy Playtime character let me explain. So first as you saw Huggy Wuggy fall down we never know what happend to his body right? I think the faild experiment (the metal hand) grabbed his body and started to take revenge by using it. Second you saw Mommy Long Legs getting half of her body crused later you saw the faild experiment (the metal hand) grab her head and took her away making her the second part of the New character. Third you saw CatNap get killed by the faild experiment (the metal hand) Just to make sure i know not much abt the New chaper but as you saw he took CatNap away too use his body to make part of the New character. Last for what i know you saw DogDay get eaten by CatNaps cats ig but you may think "But CatNap was killed right?" Well i think the faild experiment used CatNaps body to make DogDay on its (the metal hands) side to take revenge on all the humans ever lived for not making it (the metal hand) special too! So of they make more Characters the faild experiment (the metal hand) adds them to its (the metal hands) final form making it (the metal hand) the final boss/the last chapter. Weird plot twist i tought of right?
In the ARG, it says that CatNap is able to contort its body in size and shape. This means that catnap can alter its height and shape, meaning that it simply just altered its body shape as a "crazed" form, like mommy longlegs and her big black beady eye form
The red smoke makes you really trip and it's nightmare inducing like the mom from one of the VHS's pissed off that her daughter's CatNap toy gave her such horrific nightmares that her daughter went into shock and wouldn't stop screaming. That's most likely why the pictures of the orphans we've seen from the Play Care all have dark circles under their eyes, ESPECIALLY the boy who was actually turned into CatNap, because the scientists were pumping their bedrooms full of Red Smoke to induce deep sleeping so they could observe and perform experiments on them. That's what those shower head things were next to the beds and why many of the bedrooms had 2 way mirrors in them.
The red smoke makes the player hallucinate, thus seeing the “hypnagogic” form of catnap. In reality, this form doesn’t exist, he’s just regular catnap.
@@ezc_d2yt329 If youre watching it through gameplay, the actual video itself can be watched on RU-vid and he very much has his grotesque boney structure.
I think that red gas is opium gas. I watched a Game Theory video and MatPat had a theory where the scientists use opium gas in the process of transferring souls into toys. And it makes sense because poppy flowers release opium and they were used in the experiments that we get evidence of in Chapter 1 or 2. Opium gas makes you lose consciousness and have wild dreams, so I’m pretty sure that CatNap releases opium gas from his mouth. That would explain why the Smiling Critters asked him to help them fall asleep in the cartoon that plays in the beginning of the game, and the complaints of children who have CatNap dolls having horrible dreams/nightmares. So the hallucinations aren’t actually hallucinations, they’re just dreams. That explains the Nightmare Huggy chase scene.
He is the bigger body exclusive to project playtime, the devs included him to show that ALL toys (including the ones we haven’t seen yet in Poppy playtime) did a revolution
@@Kevin_Ramirez2020Bron must've done something because in the chapter 3 teaser is shows a sequence of toys: Huggy Wuggy , Mommy Long Legs and then Bron and many people thought Bron was going to be the antagonist but then people thought Boxy Boo was the antagonist and it turns out... CatNap was the antagonist
The ARG actually showed us a research paper that said that CatNap is made out of a rubbery material similar to Mommy that allowed him to alter the size and shape of his body
in the toy versions of them, the zippers are how parents can change out the scents that each of the smiling critters comes with (Ex: Catnap is supposed to release a lavender scent) I assume that when they created the Bigger Bodies they kept the zipper to keep with character design
@@yes57373 Nothing really changed in that transformation He only got skinnier and his mouth changed Maybe He's flexible and can hide that mouth in the suit
@@ImNotMrNooby what youre saying is extremly ridiculous, he got a lot bigger, even his skeleton got bigger, what youre saying has absolutely no evidence to back it up, only against it
@@yes57373it could be it's a cat if it's head fits it can fit it's body also the gas comes out the mouth of the suit like it's being forced through fabric as it has no hold in the arg it says in the smoke cat nap can change it's physical form it could be storing the gas in the suit to fit or it could be flexible like a real cat
The player is supposed to lose the gas mask in the counselor office (your gameplay having it is most likely a bug) So the player inhaled the red gas for the third time right before the boss fight and that is why Catnap “transformed”
The only main antagonist that didn't distort was mommy long legs, I wonder why, my theory is that huggy wuggy might not actually be dead and so this gives catnap the ability to distort his body as a fake version and since mommy long legs is dead, she can't be used as a distorted hallucination version, this is just a theory.
Huggy's dead. His head was dismembered on a spike in one of the CH3 teaser trailers. I think the reason why we saw Huggy but never MLL, is because we were around Huggy more, when we still worked at the factory.
@@hrnsnfhsjddhsjfnsmjdjsd-xs9seYeah, and Huggy was the start of it all, so it’s only fair to include him in the third (and second) chapter. He might show up in some way in the fourth chapter too.
@@hrnsnfhsjddhsjfnsmjdjsd-xs9se It was just a theory and I never saw the teasers unluckily, but that makes sense, I was just thinking of my own theory just to finally have one.
As not PPT enthusiast I didn’t really dig into the game, but y’know, sometimes it’s just so many facts are lie on the ground, it’s simple need some attention to figure them out, and people still miss them… I love what they’ve done with the game, chapter 3 is what that game really needed in my opinion.
No. In the ARG, it said catnap has the ability to twist and contort to a 3rd his usual size. The catnap we see chasing us is Catnaps true form, while the one we usually see is him shrunken.
But still, they could have made the scenes actually scary. Means like chasing scenes and all. The puzzles only helps intensifying mostly. I hope in Ch4 we could see our villian (May Be Kissy) more powerful and scary with good jump scares.
Cat nap’s gas causes hallucinations because in the beginning of the chapter, the video tells that cat nap’s smoke makes violent nightmares when inhaled. So the smoke makes the player trip and see the nightmare version of cat nap, even tho it’s not what they really look like.
You're not supposed to have access to the gasmask after catnap slaps you through the door. So when catnap surprises you next to the big battery insert, you're supposed to be breathing in that red smoke, making him look like a much more terrifying monster than he already is.
The thing that makes this boss battle so terrifying yet intriguing is that you’re fighting both him and the smoke around you. The red smoke is meant to put others to sleep, so the player is basically resisting the urge to sleep while also defending themselves against CatNap. Fighting him in his own element, only this time you don’t need a gas mask to fight back.
Chapter 3 is pretty good but it came with another FNAF “similarity”. The gas versions of the monsters are strangely similar to the nightmare animatronics, they’re even called the same, and they also have the concept of illusions. Coming from different things but they’re still both illusions (the difference is that in PP the hallucinations are caused by toxic gas affecting the player and even tho there are multiple theories about the nightmares in FNAF, the 3 biggest ones are that either the nightmares are just.. nightmares, they’re endos with illusion disks or they’re costumes with illusion disks)
